Remember, it's supposed to be ancient Egypt. Then again, Radames' father's men look like they're dressed as ninjas, so the wardrobe was pretty peculiar in the entire show...

Im sorry, but that is just not good. She KILLS her voice at the dramatic "shocks me" part (Thats why it sounds gravely). Yes, It has a lot of passion and the emotion is there, but not the talent. She is an average singer that is not very versatile.

Actually there is nothing wrong with her placement, she's just belting. If she were to sing it classically (which would not fit the style of this show) then the placement would be wrong. I doubt she was hurting her voice.

@imawesomeholly I completly disagree with you. 1) comparing her role here and in Rent AND Wicked I'd say she's rather versatile. 2) keep in mind, despite what you make think of her, she is a professional and has, no doubt, had PLENTY of vocal training, why on earth would she do ANYTHING to harm her voice?

From what I have heard and will be seeing soon on the 17th of September...she is a brilliant singer LIVE. Audios/vids do not do her justice. Some voices do not translate onto media very well. Though I do admit that part was a bit off but I think it kinda fits...

I think she is the best at putting pure raw emotions in to her singing. She is not always pitch perfect but there as so many people out there who can hit the high and low notes. But so very few who can take a song and really strip it down and touch people.

could her tempo be any more awkward and all over the place? Im amazed the orchestra could follow her at all. she sped up and slowed down all over the place in the middle of phrases in the beginning. also don't really agree with her note changing. she made it more into a pop song rather than a pivotal moment for her character. too much idina not enough amneris...in my opinion

Honestly, as much as I loved Sherie in this, I prefer Idina in this song, her voice isn't quite as harsh, it comes across as more sad, broken even, which is perfect for Amneris at this point of the show.

I'm sorry, I LOVE Idina, but she tries to hard to make the character her own, that she loses the beauty and softness of the character. Granted she isn't a boring and soft character, but she isn't the outspoken, rugged Maureen.

Also Sherie is my favorite actress on the stage. She is the actress who can play anyone! Anyone, but Ursala. I was SO excited to see what she did with the character, but it sorta sucked. She made the grungy, dirty old woman into this squeaky woman from the Bronx. Too bad:(
