This is the best thing AT&T has come out with in some time. It compares right up their with Mac innovations. What I would like to see more of on Youtube for prospective buyers is the use of citrus through the Atrix 4G with the dual core processor. I am able to hook right up to my Mac at home and use Business Office 2011, access my time capsule, Mac TV, anything you can do with a laptop accessing your computer with Citrus or for Windows Users PC ANYWHERE. It is truly outstanding. Print too!

The laptop dock for this will be expensive, but i reckon 6 to 8 months after its release, u'd get other companies making similar docks for compatible phones and they'll be way cheaper

that way you don't need to pay for 3 separate computers, only different mediums for one...

I really like this idea. The problem i have with the iphone and ipad is one doesnt replace the other. Im not going to carry an ipad around if i want to listen to music and the iphone doesnt have the battery life to sustain playing a movie and calling and texting all day. This basically puts the two together. Great idea.

@codymannthedestroyer The phone is essentially free if you bundle the phone and laptop. Both together are $500 if you do it this way. If you get them separately, it's $700 for the pair.

Aside from all that, Motorola isn't much better at times. Last time I checked, they get angry if your root your Droid and update the firmware without their blessing.

@stylezNsmilez Possibly. But, considering the functionality of the phone, you're not going to want to root it and update to a stock 2.3 firmware.  It would probably not work with the dock or netbook attachment after that.

@Moshenokoji they can be angry, law states otherwise, you can modify your mobile device, in fact google was court ordered to release the codes for some devices, i doubt they're that angry, only htc blocked one phone for root, besides doesnt every other iphone jail break their phone? except when we do it, we get amazing results, ios gets "widgets" and port android os over. i despise apple and their IOS for misleading the public, thats where my "snide" comes from

@kfki its optional, but if you were an entrepreneur maybe the laptop dock might be useful, and if you're in the media business the standard dock might help too. i believe these accessories don't cater to everyone, but its sure nice to have options. i have a droid x with 4 batteries, battery charger, and 2 usb cables for about 13 bucks on accessories. thank hong kong and ebay.

@Leong428 it seems unecessary, but what if you juggle 4 computers between multiple homes and offices? all those desktop/laptop files, settings, bookmarks, applications ect. are in your pocket all of the time. this seems crazy now, but it could be an industry standard in due time

@Dustin52456 True as that may be, i think that's where cloud computing comes in. Realistically, for next year these smartphones would not be able to run heavy applications like MatLab, photoshop etc.

The tasks they would be able to perform on a "netbook" would be limited to tasks you could well complete on the device (smartphone) itself!

Especially with bigger screens and tablets coming along, it really makes one question the point of the docking feature.

It is very impressive, and be sure it will attract attention from corporate clients, and anybody on the go. I wander the story behind this phone, it would have been very cool to see Android 3.0 add this feature and use Chrome OS to run the laptop part with the same phone interface window.

I think this just demonstrates how innovation can blossom when hardware makes don't have to worry too much on software or pay for the basic code. Go GOOGLE - I would buy this over the Nexus S.

While the webtop aims to add value to the ATRIX 4G, not including a webcam definately throws to the trash one key feature: video chat.

And one thing that really blows is that when motorola decides to stop releasing firmware updates for your ATRIX 4G you'll be left not only with an outdated phone, but also an outdated netbook.

Still, it's the most impressive smartphone ever. period.

@fedemenoyo i agree with the lack of webcam. I hope motorola includes this this feature in its final release. Also, it'd be amazing if when docked in the HD dock to a tv, that Google TV would be an option instead of Chrome OS.

Another cool feature would be if it could be docked to a tablet.

Unfortunately it was, but it looks very snappy in all these hands-on videos, even better than the nexus s on gingerbread, even though its a pre release software

Other than the sluggishness I have no problems with Moto Blur, and it looks more polished in this version

@fedemenoyo - The phone already has built in video chat. When you connect it to the laptop dock, the front of the phone will also pop up. This will allow the user to continue using the phone (video chat, text or make phone calls), as well as use the laptop. Motorola has been very up to date with system upgrades for the Droid, so I doubt very seriously that they will leave Atrix users high and dry ... unlike Apple and the iPhone.

@jcgray66 The Atrix docks on the back of the laptop, so... if I want to videochat, I lose sight of the laptop's screen and keyboard. Regarding OS upgrades, motorola has been updating only their high-end line and only in USA, in the rest of the world the Droid is called Milestone, and it's still on 2.1. That's REALLY lame and unacceptable. The Atrix is impressive, but moto is very close-minded, they keep bootloaders locked and don't release updates, they expect you forget and buy their new stuff.
