Guys guys lay off Bobby. Yeah he may look really spun all of the time but it's still good old fashioned Bobby wether it looks like it or not. He's in his 60's and can play better than about 95% of currently playing musicians. He may have dyslexia, but you have to admit he is a very good speaker and quite a smart guy. Most likely he was tripping very hard or was just really frustrated in this video.
interesting ... this is the #1 viewed Furthur Video on YT. Sad, but interesting. A historic wreck, glad I was there. I got video too, though didn't post.
He is almost 70 and still can remember all of the words to every songs almost i give him props to that give him a break he is still the greatest Rythem Guitairst of all time
lol he's DEFINITELY faced. That's the look...that or he really is just too old and is having senior moments. Doubtful though, Phil had the explanation "That's why you don't drink from a cup that wasn't poured for you"
Bob come on roses cantina...he flubs the second line the 1st time and after trying again he flubs the same exact lyric. This scared me a lot these guys are aging and I really hope if he got dosed it was at least good or not something weird going around.
HIs hideous pants and beard bother me more. They all (and I mean all rock stars) had their moments - what are you going to do. Age/drugs/drink/etc all take their toll. Part of the unpredicability of live entertainment.
With that said - if this is the only show you ever get to see, then I can understand where it would be disappointing. Artists make the committment to be on the road and play the shows, and people pay hard-earned money to be there.
@drexmanus don't be stupid, Bob wore those kinds of things as early on as the eighties... for one
and for two, people are only human, even if "people pay hard-earned money to be there." They know who they are going to see, and how old they are. Life will be life my friend
Kind of looks like Michael Schumacher's return to Formula One. LOL!! Been there, done that!! When you forget the lyrics, the harder you try to recall them, the 'further' they are from your conscious memory. I would have wrapped it up quickly as in instrumental instead of trying to 'start over'.
it made for an interesting first set for sure.Bobby was definitely dosed, you could see it. He was shook and didn't make eye contact with anyone. Messed up thing to do - to anyone - but he soildered through and they got it back in full. Thursday night they killed and Friday at The Vibes was just perfect.

Messed up thing to do - to anyone - but he soildered through and they got it back in full. Thursday night they killed and Friday at The Vibes was just perfect.
Five-and-a-half minutes in "I'm gonna start over"- classic. Of course Bob was in no condition to start over, and the band mercifully cut it off. Even without vocals it's a nice little ditty, and John had a bit of a groove going. They should have just played the B par of the song and let JK tear it up without vocals rather than just repeating the same chord progression ad nauseum. Oh well and anyway, get well Bob. You've had enough good nights to get some slack for this one.
If It was for Real the case that Bobby was dosed. What kind of asshole would do that to him. that is so not cool to really do to any one. exspecially some one his age. though i would think a veteran like him could roll with it a lil better but he did his best he looks faced. i dont get why phil or john didnt take over the vocals. Love you Bobby your a trooper!!!
Chill out, we've all had these moments. Bobby went blank and thats all there is to it. He has been singing this song for 30 years , dosed, drunk, high you name it. It's just one of those things. You rock Bobby!
if you have never taken acid, then it may not be obvious to you, but to anyone who has dosed many times, Bobby is obviously dosed and very very high. he literally stumbles on himself. That is not how Bobby acts, ever. Hey Bobby, Hope you enjoyed the ride!
We love you Bob!! Hope things are ok. If someone did dose him they need a true blue Class A Deep Elum Ass Whipping. There are many of us that would gladly make a mess of whoever dosed Bobby if that did in fact occur. And please let JJohn sing ALL Jerry tunes. RIP JJG. Never had such a good time............
Maybe dosed drunk tired sick confused having a senior moment all rolled into one glorious deviation from the predictable. more more more! Hooray for the confused weir!
@wexplex i was there he was and you are correct,... the rumors phill said on mic that bobby should have learned not to drink from other peoples cups is not true ,he never said that
When you can't remember the words, you just want to run away and hide. Especially in those pants. But Weir is a real pro to get through it. What was the rest of the show like? This looks more like a senior moment than it looks like tripping.
Well something sure doesn't seem to be "just exactly perfect". Hopefully it's just as reported that someone dosed Bobby and nothing more. If that be the case hope he "enjoyed the ride"?!, but I suspect not and he looked a little understandably scared.
@ishallnotbenamed I don't think he was having a "bobby moment". Something was going on, whether it was health, drugs... whatever. The complete show was absolutely horrid no matter how you listen to it (i mean no disrespect to you ishallnotbenamed). Bob was so far off throughout the show, that he discombobulated the entire band most of the show. I just happens that the El Paso was the worst of it. Put your headphones on and listen to the sbd to give you a better interpretation.
Yeah, it's painful to watch, but every year had a couple of bad shows...the guy is also 60+ years old and they're doing a ton of shows in a very short time period. I'd be sick as well if I was away from home for a month, going from hotel to hotel, etc. And I'm only 18. Be happy they're still touring
We've all seen Bobby kick ass so many times that we know what an awesome performer he is when he feels good. This is a rare blunder. Let's pretend that it never happened & move on.........
Yeah it's bad. I'm thinking that the life they're living right now is practically guaranteed to make you sick -- they're playing a LOT of show in a row with very few days off, living in hotels on hotel food, not in your own bed, everyone pestering you all the time for something or other... if I idid that it would take me, oh, five days to get really sick. I don't think Bobby's lost his talent -- I think Bobby's not feeling well here.
