ok this was really helpful! i heard that skipping was a good way to get fit, but i didnt want to just skip. thanks so much for the variety! God bless!
@bloomtofit , can i ask you , do you recommend me jumping rope instead of doing cardio simple running or walking on incline ?? can u tell me ? i love jumping .. i will burn at least the same as cardio by running ? is so important to me , thank you .i enjoy your video. i will learn from u
@jamaika112 just get a simple speed rope. That's what I would start with (and what I'm using in the video). You can also get a weighted rope in the future - it's a great alternative.
This man makes this look simple but he is really a fantastic skipper. I would try most of those skipping excersises all my life and never get them done. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kipping ropes excerises.. could you tell me how many we have to do each day? an can we actually lose weight by doing this. Also does doing this shape our body or it's better to do push up and seat up. Thanks!
@lyricisible I usually skip 10 to 20 minutes every day, but you can do as little as 3-4 times per week. Skipping can definitely help you lose weight (in fact, you can burn up to 20 calories/minute at a good pace). I would definitely combine skipping with other bodyweight training exercises for a complete workout. There's a ton of information on my blog about skipping so you can check out some stuff there too!
Hi im only 11 but does this keep you fit if you do it regularly. i do this for 30 minutes outside every morning, just wondering if that is enough? Nice video.
I'm focusing more on time when I jump the rope I jump for 40 minutes but without doing tricks although I've got some.I heard some people can jump for over two hours I wonder if that's true.anyway next achievement 50 min
@slugfestdude 40 minutes is quite an accomplishment! Good job! I like to focus more on interval style workouts when skipping rope so mine are much shorter than 40. Let me know when you get to 50min!
@MrJonnski1 I use two kinds of ropes. The one I used for this video is the most basic speed rope you can get at any general fitness store (or even some big stores). If you plan on using a speed rope for a while, I would suggest getting a better quality one because you'll want it to last you.
I also own a weighted rope. These are much more expensive but you can get one online if you're interested.
Thanks dude...I've been doing skipping for the past one month every alternate day and was looking for some variations. You video would help. Can you please tell me is it ok for a normal physique to do skipping everyday? How much calories can one expect to burn if one does skipping for 15-20 minutes a day (1000 - 1500 repetitions)?
@123rajeeb I'll be honest man. I skip every day. I love it. If you skip at a high intensity, you can burn up to 20 calories per minute. I've put a link to one of my blog posts in the resource box (under the video) that goes into detail about the benefits of skipping so feel free to check that out. It has some good info.
@bloomtofit Thanks for your reply...also can you pls advice what to do to avoid injuries of the ankle...I mean yesterday while trying a few of your variations, I realized that my ankle got slightly hurt...are rest and recuperation the only option? Are their any specific warm up exercises before starting skipping. I am sorry if you have already addressed all those queries in your link, I am going to visit it now. Thanks once again.
@123rajeeb I would always advise doing some sort of warm up prior to skipping if you're feeling some pain in the ankle. Put the ankle joint through its full range of motion. I have a post on my blog about this stuff. Skipping takes a bit of time to get used to so you have to take it slow if your ankles or feet are hurting. Also, start with the easier variations before you move to the harder ones. For instance, skipping on one foot places a lot more pressure on the joint than other variations...
Srdjan, great vid...I've always keen on adding a jump rope into a workout whenever I can. These variations are sure to lockout the monotony. Also, great coordination skills you've got there.
killer exercise ,I need to go bye a jump rope and try it. to me its easy when u do it, but when I try,I'll probably be tired in less then 5min.spectacular vid
