My school nurse is SO STUPID! I have really long seizures.. they last 8-15 minutes. they are tonic clonic seizures. My stupid old bag of dust nurse tires to hold me down! Thank god my teacher who's an EMT walked in because at least HE knows what he's doing.
My culture is so dumb, they believe that seizures are CONTAGIOUS. If it's contagious, then how come my grandma hadn't caught any of my aunt's seizure? And they've been living together for 40 years!
Hi, Thanks for the vid. Great info. I to have hydrocephalus and suffered seizures as an infant. Up until 5 years ago I was seizure free. Since this time I have had 2 seizures on seperate occasions. Most recent, September '09. Simply sitting with my dad and uncle, next thing I know, I'm waking up 9 days later from an induced coma. No clue what had happened. Still have no reason to this day and am back on medication. Thankfully though, I'm still alive to talk about it.
i heard that the patient could bite their tongue n start a very serious bleeding if you can't put anything in their mouth then what do you do instead?
@FLHandSHE Sorry for the late reply, but basically you don't do anything other than what was stated in the video until the person regains consciousness. If they did bite their tongue then you can get some gauze or other suitable material and get them to apply pressure to their tongue.
This is good. A client at my workplace just had a seizure. Although I have CPR training I definitely needed refreshing. I am happy to know I did the right thing. Thanks.
my boyfriend has epilepsy and we both have a feeling that he's going to have a seizure pretty soon.. soo this video was really good for informing me what to do. and you actually cant swallow your tongue, but my boyriend has bit pieces of his tongue off several times. so that is something that worries me
Having seen a LOT of these films, I have to say that the acting is surprisingly good. There's worried concern from the person who knows nothing, and patient observation from the one who does.
My fiance is having seizures now, and I've been looking for anything which advises on what to do/what not to do for her. The 5 minute time frame is important, and they don't mention it, but everything else was clear, concise, and conveyed exactly what I needed to know. Kudos.
My mom has seizures, you make them comfy because when they are flailing their arms around they might hit the ground it's better to hit something soft, especially the head, when you are having a full seizure youre head is going to be going all over the place, you gotta make sure it's comfy and help it out.
But when they turned the head to the side, your also making sure they don't swallow your tounge too
No, the reason for putting someone on their side is to allow one to clear their airway and let them breath. Not sure where you got that info. One can bite their tongue, not swallow.
Its physically impossible to swallow your tongue. Thats an old tales myth..its kinda like saying that if someone has a heart attack you better put them on their side or they'll throw up their heart...
yeah all you can do is watch my sister and brothers and mom have seizures the docters said just let them act it out dont forget not to let them choke of their on salava
Usually, a tonic-clonic seizure will take around 1-2 minutes. If the seizures goes on for five minutes or longer, you must call an ambulance, because it can be life-threatening.
(I'm afraid I don't know exactly why this is. However, even a short seizure can leave a person drained and exhausted - it may take days to recooperate. Perhaps a five-minute seizure is dangerous because it will use up so much energy that it puts the person's life at risk???)
RebDeb64: When a seizure hasn't stopped after 5 minutes the brain might be damaged due to lack of oxygen. Also there's the possibility that the seizure has developed into status epilepticus which normally will aquire medical help to be stopped. It's a potentially life-threatening situation because of the physical/biochemical changes the constant seizureactivity causes in the body.
It seems a little weird to be watching this, considering the fact that I had seizures when I was a kid (due to hydrocephalus). I was on medication until I was thirteen, then it was discontinued, and have had no seizures since.
someone Plz Explain to me what epilepsy is!!! It looks really bad!!!

if the person is rather muscular or big you should also look into shoulder relocation.

You can swallow your fucking tounge, doctors have told my mom that is why you put them on their side, this video has a lot of bullshit

you also put them on their side so they dont choke on saliva or vomit

generally, anything that is in the mouth. But whatever is blocking the airway will clear it up.
