I'm a road enthusiast but I don't enjoy driving at night because I won't be able to enjoy the scenery around me.I usually stop at an inn before dusk then continue on my trip the next day in the morning.
hey just wondering what you brought with for any emergencies you may have run into, also did you do anything to your truck to make it ready for the trip in the cold temps? I made my first drive down from Anchorage to Wisconsin mid spring- had my hand tools, jack & stand, spare tire & plug kit, jumper cables, flares, water & food, sleeping bag AND EXTRA FUEL :-p had to help 4 other cars that ran out of fuel in the yukon territory lol. to prep all I did was air up my tires & change all my oils.
What time of the Year is this Trip? I am thinking about leaving end of September so most likely begining of Oct. From Anchorage to Vancouver. We have an RV and I am not sure if it's safe to drive this time. Let me know soon
@fb767 yeah we did go upto Canada. Not a good idea to drive up there after september. It was too cold. Saw a really really bad accident. Also someones RV was broke. Roads after you enter Canada are horrible. Must must have spare tires...like two atleast. The roards are totally tire damaging...I was expecting a huge sign..saying "Welcome to Canada!!!" but nothing just one little youkon territory sign...LOL.
North Canadians didn't seem that Welcoming...maybe it was just me.
nice, id like to make similar trip except from nyc to alaska ..and def not by myself on frozen road. i want others to drive so i can smoke my shit and chill
@alnllc thats 5-6 days of driving with stops and sleep breaks. If you have a friend and both take turns you could prob do it in 3-4. Make sure you plan your trip tho. Don't want to end up in bumblefuck nowhere and your out of gas.
Great video!. I am curious: would the view during driving from Seattle to Alaska more spectacular than the other way around? I'd love to know this since we're planning a road trip this summer.
Hey this is great. You look like Josh Hartnett. Ever heard that before? Yeah I'm in Denver and lookin to make the drive too here real soon. Alaska looks amazing!
Outstanding! Most have not a clue or any idea of the distances & time involved in driving up north, nor the winter temps. Personally I love winter driving for the challenge. "The Woman" & I may just be making the trip soon. Applause to you for a great trip and video of it.
Loved the video, did you set out to make one, or just do it to kill the boredom? I plan to drive the Alcan in 2010, when I finish grad school. So I love watching videos like this where it shows the road and the different legs. Great video!

spectacular documentary! is that a toyota tacoma regular cab you're driving with?
Bimo165 3 years ago
It's a 2001 Nissan Frontier XE... so there's like some child-sized seats that fold down behind the normal-sized seats.
