I feel that QSI would have been a better sound choice for Intermountain seeing as to how Tower 55 is out. Otherwise, solid model. Soundtraxx just doesn't sound prototypical to me. BLI still takes the cake when it comes to sound.

@ovationpdh Yeah you are correct. I know what a number board is but I was so tired last night I could barely walk straight. Thanks for the correction.
@ovationpdh they don't match but this is the very first model to go out from the first run so Intermountain is aware and making sure they don't go out to the consumer when they release these sometime next week.
@damianbradley Yeah Nuclear Bright headlights too, at Dusk one day I was looking down the track and at first glance thought it was the sun!!! Those lights are BRIGHT.
@railfanfromiantha I was about to tear it apart but the engine arrived early and so I wasn't prepared for it. I need to clean my track and I have 26 inch outer curves and 22 inch inner curves.
@jlwii2000 Hi, I have 12 UP 57'mechanical reefers with KD #5's and metal wheelsets, new in box and was wondering if you might be interested since you model UP.
Good review man! Did you buy it or they gave it to you? What's up with the layout, are you building abetter one? Sorry for all the questions, anyway you allways do great review videos keep up the good work.
im lookin for some tips, i have a samll circular n scale set, bnsf dash 8 widecab, 6 cars etc, i know you do HO but any tips im lookin for some conrail and csx units, any help would be greatly appreciated, i wanna get scenery , more track engines etc
@MARCTRAIN426 intermountain made an exception to send me one direct from the first few engines just so I could do a review. However, due to the cab number problem I will be doing a full review later and deleting this first look.

What are ditch light numbers? There are no such thing. The numbers on the upper part of the cab are on the numberboards.

So the numbers on the numberboards don't match the road number of the unit? I don't think I have ever seen that mistake on a model.

these horn sound is better than tower 55s
gecx6000 1 year ago
@gecx6000 The Tower 55s had Digitrax decoders which have 16-bit sound. The Intermountains have Soundtraxx Tsunami which is 32 bit sound.

Looks like you got a nice engine. on your tracks problems, have you cleaned it? Also what radius of curve are you using?

Did they record custom sounds or are they stock tsunami sounds?
apl1031 1 year ago
@apl1031 not sure I would have to research that for you. The decoder is Tsunami sound though
jlwii2000 1 year ago
@jlwii2000 It's a Custom Non-Public Release Of Sound Files, Much Like Athearn had Done For the ACe.
mountainlova1009 1 year ago
@jlwii2000 They recorded authentic Gevo sounds from the UP yard in Denver.

@apl1031 Those have to be custom the stock sounds are terrible for AC4400's and ES4400's
