  • iv ben thinking about being an apprentis because i can draw like crazy good no lie

  • how much does being a tattoo artist make?

  • QUESTION: I am a good drawer, ive never tattooed but always wanted too, Is it possilbe too not to get a apprenticeship and still get licenced?

  • And while you were sweeping floor and cleaning bathrooms for a year for no pay

at Joe's Tattoo's..The self starter with time to practice the art just passed you by

  • This greed is going to kill apprenticeships for all but the better artists.

$5000 and a year cleaning bathrooms to learn what is readily available on the

Internet and DVDs. For a determined beginner.

  • 5,000 is way to much just to work and do shitty work meanwhile you could spend like a 1,000 for goood quality guna and practice instead of washing bathrooms and taking trash out and being someone elses bitch.........

  • If I want to become a Tattoo Artist, Sweeping Floors and Taking out the trash has nothing to do with it. I'd get an ink Gun and practice on pig skins for 5 years. Fuck the whole apprenticeship bullsh1t. In this economy everyones out to make a buck off every innocent mind. Do it on your own.

  • You are learning a whole career so do not complain about the price. It is a form of education, like college so expect to pay.

  • Some of you people need to STOP WHINING. Anything WORTH DOING ISN'T EASY. Tattooing is ALL I've ever wanted to do, so if that means sweeping floors for a year and paying 10 grand- I'll do it. It takes conviction and patience, and if you don't have those two qualities, you need to look into a new career path.Tattooing is a respectable art form, and those of you whining about the cost are the ones who are destroying it.

  • thats way to much money these days i guess ill never be one if thats what it takes my art work gets better and better the more I do it. Not running errands its a shame that its came to this 5k- 10k I would do all the grime work \for free but not 5k-10k to do it

  • If your working for them for free to learn a trade, then why are you paying so much money?

  • i am an artist of 10 years now and if i wanted to learn from some of the greatest artis around i would have to pay 1000.00 a day for thier seminars...its worth it to me so quit whining about how much an apprenticeship costs and either do it or hack away at your kitchen table and give real artist some job security reworking your garbage scratchings. your learning a lifetime career..not learnign how to ride a bicycle...

  • @MonikerMCR Having that self confidence is the most important thing to motivate yourself into doing whatever u want!

  • who the hell charges 5-10k for a apprenticeship thats bullshit.

  • I am 14 and I want to become a tattoo artist. I didn't know how much it was to apprentice and now I do so any job I get I'm going to try and save as much as I can for a apprenticeship. Thanks for the advice!

  • @coutterboy dude being an apprentice means u'll do shit for them for free in exchange for learning that trade,!

  • @fattygamer94 I know what it is. And I'm willing to go through with it if it means becoming a tattoo artist.

  • @DamnedMissDisaster Thanks, that means a lot! I think tattooing and art are universal, so if you want to tattoo, totally, go for it! I I think the world needs more actual ARTISTS in the tattoo world then people who THINK they're artist by watching LA Ink and buying the cheap tatto machine they can. Props dude!

  • This "guide" pisses me off.

  • HELP NEEDED: my friend taught me some skills for sum time and recently got one of his friends to give me a full apprenticeship at a shop he told me to get some good equipment because the stuff i have is cheap. but im not sure where to buy it from so any1 know where i can get quality equipment.

  • My wife and I opened our own tatt shop in Alberta, Canada. All we did was learn how to tattoo on our own, and a few friends that are in the biz showed us a few tricks here and there. No apprenticeships, no 5-10 000$ payments. F that!

  • it would be awesome if you didnt have to pay 5k to 10k -.-

  • Well, First and for mostly all of you looking to get into tattooing don't. Unless your 1000% your ready for a life changing move. I started to chill at a tattoo shop when i was 18. Got my first tattoo and came back for my sleeve through out 3 yrs. 2 of which i was being apprenticed without my knowledge. Just hanging around a shop and getting work done by the artist and being loyal and honest got me into tattooing. Even if i had to pay, It wouldn't ever be enough for what i learned.

  • @tattoocrazy10 thats awesome man! Im looking to teach myself too.

  • Watch my "Inked" music video

  • ive heard of up to 3000 dollors but i kill some for 10gs before id give it to them to teach me, ur full of shit

  • i gave my friend a tattoo yesterday for my first time, and i like it a lot

  • I love these kids, pay what are you crazy don't you know that all the kids today have entitlement to anything they want to do,hell the whole world should be free, what a bunch of idiots, can you become a hairstylist for free? No,can you become a lawyer for free ,a dentist No i payed in 1978 $3000 for three years and went on to be a tattoo artist with 2 studios and now retired, and anyone that would give away there know how doesn't know much.

  • @tattoocrazy10 How'd you tattoo your left arm? Do you have 3 hands ?

  • they would have to pay me 5 grand thats horse shit!! the internet is free and tattoo machines are a dime a doze!! and nothing takes place of practice!! for five grand you can order a tattoo machine, power supply, every color ink there is,transfer paper, gloves clip cords, foot peadal, green soap, autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, flash, first aid,!! save the other $3000.00 and practice, practice, practice!!

  • Some parts had some useful info..

  • These type of tat studios represent there character. GREED AND FEAR OF COMPETITION. Stay away from. Real tat pros will eagerly take you under there wing.

  • Real sincere tat artist will eagerly take a novice under there wing. WHY! Cause they know competition want effect there trade and if there good, they make enough not to worry about greed. These kind of shops identify the owners character so stay away. I would eagerly advise customers to do the same. Who wants a permanent pic on there body from someone like that.

  • Most tattoo studio owners take this attitude with appreticeships now. Truth be known between haven a big head (think there all that) and dont want any further competition, this is what they do. If you find a tat studio that takes this approach just find someone else. Use your own judgement when determining someones character. They have been watchen Miami ink too long. Real genuine artist will be eager for help and will jump right in to teach someone interested in there trade.

  • Yeah, I'm happy I found a retired nurse who does this. Doesn't want 10 grand and doesn't want me to be her bitch, just wants me to make sure I know needle cleanlyness

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • thats not realy all they will be doing, they show you and teach you stuff, but you dont do any "hands on" work untill later

  • @tattoocrazy10 did you have to pay for your apprenticeship? What kind of portfolio did you have? And congrats on your progress! That's fantastic.

  • This video is on becoming an apprentice. I f you want to skip this step & just become an artist all you have to do is get the machine, ink & a lot of dumb friends.

  • I have my on gun and do all my husbands tattoos. My family said I have a talent for the art. I have always wanted to be a tattoo artist so this video gives me hope that if I go around Valdosta Ga where I live that I might get an Apprenticeship ...Thank you and I love you videos!

  • what idiot on here actually paid for an apprenticeship? i got one almost a year ago and all i had to do was tell them how into te art i was, i never had to clean shop or any of that shit, i started tattooing after one month and have been for almost a year now

  • @tattoocrazy10 thats awesome, but honestly more time under your belt would make you more trustworthy. some tat artists that are just starting out don't have that level of talent. so more time is needed. this is just a generalization i'm guessing... but if you are doing that well as an artist already, i'd love to see your work!

  • @followhertrailoflies If it covers the cost of equipment that you use during your ENTIRE apprenticeship, then yea, you pay. Afterall once you start tattooing on your own you have to cover the cost of your equipment yourself ususally. That price is a little steep though.. the highest I've ever seen was 2000 a year for CONSTANT hands on training.

  • will tattooing you self then just bringing that into the shop to show them as your art wont that help a lil.

  • @LoveSquirrels420 no proof it was you though is there?

  • i wouldnt mind being the cleaner and errand boy but NOT if ive handed over cash to train. She is basically advertising herself and her studio and not the greater tattoo world

  • You pay for your apprenticeship by doing the cleaning and other work. You don't pay money for your apprenticeship.. you earn it. Check out TeachMeToTattoo or Basic Fundamentals of Modern Tattoo...Best of Luck

  • Plastic tubes and tips , new needles , throw it all out / thEre you go / why they say we are not the same and infect peOple / so they get to robb people for $ thats why / screw a "shop" no better then home tattoo artist that is good , not any one that just pics up a machine and tattoos with no sKill at all/ i speak for amazing "home" tattoo artist

  • in addition they charge this apprenticeship fee because they are scumbags if you are doing an internship in other fields the fact that you are working for free is a trade for services. im giving my time for your knowlledge please and thank you. They charge theese fees to discourage ppl from comming into their field and proffession ,and they are scared that you will become better then them open your own tattoo shop across the street or around the corner and take their clientele.

  • alot of theese tattoo artist's act like they are above and beyond most of them like this braud did'nt pay 10,000 to get into this business they came into this biz before the craze ,and the Miami ink and L.A ink's and now that more people want tatt's and more people with an artistic talent want to seek this field as a profession .... theese already established artist want to make something off of the expansion as well. it's the american way....

  • She makes some very good points. When ever your are training someone in any industry in theory you are losing two people. 1. Person as they are not trained and also 2. person as they have to take the time to train the first person.

So I see why some tattoo studios (not all) would want to charge a fee.

  • I know this easy to learn way to become a professional tattooist. I am showing you this because it will save you time and money.

    c274d0ros5sox-0ijs0fr733x8.hop.clickbank.netx <---- remove the x

It worked for me, although I am not professional yet, but I am definitely getting there.

  • @ptrider12341 no affence but she is a veteran in tattooing and i think she knows

  • this is non sense. shes not an authority on apprenticeships. im about to go to tattoo school in albany its an 80 hr intensive. not 2 yrs. anyone that is stupid enough to take two yrs of cleaning the shops floors and bathroom and sucking up to the "artists" on the hopes that maybe they will actually show you something about doing a tattoo, should really get there heads examined.

she is preaching dysfunctional old school apprenticing yet look at her site and see the hippocracy

    what ever...

  • @ptrider12341 i live in albany and i know the tattoo school youre talking about!

p.s.- dont go to intern/work at dead presidents lounge on madison ave, its a very VERY dirty place!!

  • my first tattoo i did was a full back tattoo when i was 17.. 1 now... pissed cuz i lost the pics of it... but im not gona do that... best way to becom a tat artist is not to do tattoo on people but practice..even thothat tat was the shit

  • How much would an artist make once he got hired?

  • its not a get rich quick job!

  • I'm already saving up money for my apprenticeship.

  • you cant buy an apprenticship! save up for art supplys for your portfolio!

  • I am interested in learning to tattoo. I have been an artist all my life and with my last class of Modern Art History, I fell in love with tattoo and graffiti art and for my art project painted on some boots of the koi fish from the Ed Hardy design. Everyone loves them. When I was at the doctor's office...a tattoo artist commented on my boots..I told him I painted them and he was so surprised and asked if I ever thought of tattooing. He offered to have me come to his shop. Thanks for the tips:)

  • Do any of you know if after the apprenticeship if there is a health board examination or actual certification process test that one must take to become OFFICIAL? I want to make sure I do this sucker right. I know it varies probably by state... but if any of you have input, please let me know. Much appreciated.

  • in new hampshire every artist must take a bloodborne pathogen course once a year. not sure about other states.

  • i think there is o few things to go through ive been in a few parlors and my friend is a tattoo artist. There is a course you may have to go to for pathogens thats what its like in ireland. you can easily learn about pathogens through the red cross thats where i learned it

  • luckily i had a friend who was a tattoo artist and aprenticed me no problem. i have been tattooing for a year and hopefully will get a job at a shop soon.

  • o man i wanna go to collage to become a tattoo artist, i dont draw that well anymore but ill still do it ,thats y we always have to keep learning

  • no need for collage man just practice at home study and broadin you thought on different designs one you have a high quality portfolio just try for a apprenticship but mostly people get turned down 90% of the time. it took me 13 shops till one guy took me on

  • i want to be a tattoo artist but i can't draw very well....

  • wow then its not for you ~~unless you want to put in alot of time in learning

  • @damilkman91 Just to get a B.A. is like 4 years, maybe 2.5 if you push it with O.T.; and then what kind of a job do you get with a B.A.? Nothing special. I know many tatoo artists that make about a minimum of $150 per day. Most tattoo artists I know charge from $90 to $100 per hour, so that's if they only tattooed once everyday. It is certainly enough to live on as long as you have your skill. Unless you get brain damage or a train runs over your hands you should be good.

  • @DeathByFriedChicken hahahah me too

  • @DeathByFriedChicken dont give up man... just practise much!! :)

  • @DeathByFriedChicken i feel the same exact way so i guess just practice drawing

  • That's the same with any occupation. I couldn't agree more.

  • some very mixed views here,i am about to teach myself how to tattoo,i will be starting on practice skins, until i feel confident to put my mark on someones skin.i thought about an apprenticeship, here in the UK it would take alot of time and in this day and age and the state the financial world is in its difficult 2 come off oilrigg work and have no income.bills need paid.hope it goes good 4 me and all the others on here, hey no1 knows where the next piccasso of the tatoo world is,IT COULD BE YOU!

  • This is what I really want to do. But I have no . . direction, and obviously watching videos on youtube gives me a little bit of help and such, but how to actually approach a person and say 'Oh hey, do you wanna teach me how to put perminant color into a person's skin?' kind of takes a lot of courage . . What the hell do I do first? . .

  • im adding all her videos to my bad list .. if you want to get into it take ART CLASSES build your art skills and ill help you learn if you can draw and have art training the rest can be learned for free . if they see you have great art skills and can run a machine your in no need for a bs apprentice scam.

  • take English while your in school

  • Why do most people charge 5000 to 10,000 for apprenticships?

  • because its an art/trade where you will make well over 10,000 when you can tattoo on your own.

  • i want to be one so bad
