  • A cool looking car discreet yet potent. It's a cry-shame the company is facing such difficulties.

  • A shame... these could've evolved to great looking cars... oh of all brands to cut GM... of all brands...

  • WTF!!!... the interior is horrible!... Looks old!... The exterior is OK... but not compared with the interior! :S

  • I can't get over how much this car's tail lights resemble the Saturn L-Series, or the new Honda Accord. Awful.

  • Nice car, reviews have been abit harsh in the UK as they have been comparing it to audi, merc, bmw. Which isnt fair considering saab has had all this trouble and its not really intended to compete with them. I see the new 95 as being a contender against the octavia, exeo, mondeo, passat, insignia. Anyway Saab have got the 91 or 92 to come out, atleast one of them will be a mini, DS3 contender as Saab have bought the BMW 1.6 engine. And WRC in 2012 im sure they stole my idea i said that years ago

  • Hello DJFG85

I can confirm all the manufacturing has been brought back to Trollhattan, Sweden.

  • bugger, bugger bugger,GM have only gone and rebadged the vauxhall Insignia. I drove the vauxhall and was very dissapointed, the interior felt cheap a bit of a gimic and unless your skinny you cant pt the seatbelt into its catch and the 20lt tdi felt like you were towing a dead elephant behind you all the time (heavy). The worst feature on the vauxhall was the stonking great "A" pillar that when you pulled up at a junction you couldnt see past. So in short not a great base to build the new 95 on.

  • The new 9-5 has little to do with the Insignia when it comes to driving capability. SAAB was developed by Swedish engineers.

  • All day long I see this car and 100 more...

  • BEAUTIFUL CAR.

  • @kennymertzi WHAT?!???? LoL

  • Ruined Saab???? GM saved Saab, and now Spyker has done the same. I am the proud owner of 2 Saabs, and have owned 10 during the past 20 years. Old 900's and 9000's as well. GM and Saab were just not a good marriage. Now GM has set Spyker up with all new tooling, saving millions of dollars. Spyker got a sweetheart deal, so lets hope they hang on at least as long as GM did.

  • What a plain looking car ! Saab deserves to struggle for making such a plain car.

Where are have you gone Saab, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

  • Fuck.. damn they are soo fucking nice ! but im happy with my 93aero ss :D

  • I don't know about the new 9-5. Probably a pretty good car but it's huge as hell! The biggest success SAAB has had came with the 900. What's so hard about making a smaller not so freaking expensive and luxiurious car? The idea that Muller had about a retro 92 sounded better. Tehy should make the concept Aero X too. That looked rad! Although profit wise it may not be a smart move!

  • MERCI

  • fucking awesome. Good to drive and safe as hell.

  • Did you know you can test drive the New Saab 95 at Quest Motor Group Essex

  • Cute car love it.

  • I own a 9-5 and 9-3. I must say I'm not impressed by the new shape for the 9-5... looks too much like an Audi.

  • spyker cars will keep saab alive for alot of years i expect a lot from it

  • One was standing on my street today. Are you allready able to buy them?

  • @GBGPUNX

Hi! I think that the one you saw was a testing car from the factory, I have too seen one on the road. You can order a car now but it will be delivered in May.

  • @hjallo yeah they are only out to testers, my neighbor is a car tester for motor trend, and he is getting one in a week or so he said

  • If they manage to make the paint stick on the logo for once, they might do better this time around!

  • kick ass

  • I don't think it looks American @ all... It looks very Saabish. This new 9-5 looks more saabish as the new XJ is less jag

  • jak w samolocie

  • nie wiem. jak miszlisz?

  • they´ve totally destroyed the classic look.

Now it looks like any modern american car :(

Wish saab still belonged to sweden.

  • Fuck YES, GM has the "TURD TOUCH" which being the oposite to the "Midas Touch".

It is corporate strategy to undermine other businesses using volumn sales, an old trick of Sloans.

I personally wish GM had been broken up after the "crisis" and the units fobbed off, -the dismembered entities to any and all. (SKODA perhaps)

FUCK GM - FUCK GM DRIVERS, (i own a GMH and am EMBARRASED to own it, to me it is like wearing SS insignia, ie: it labels you as a criminal, at least by ASSociation.)

  • GM did ruin saab they are no longer relaible. Yes i know because i owned one before. and owned it since new gm sucks ass.

  • beautiful car, but totally the wrong song

  • Well OK may be GM didn't ruin SAAB the two companies never merged well and SAAB got the short end of the stick, yes GM lost a boat load of money on Saab, GM reaped the benefits from SAAB technology but GM never reinvested money back into SAAB. and this is coming from a person who drives a 9 5 ex SAAB employee still working for GM dealership.

  • Really nice car, it's different, like Saabs used to be. Looking forward to seeing them on the roads.

Anybody know what engines/transmissions will be put in them? Probably GM ones, I think Saab should develop their own turbocharged engines, maybe they will in time

  • Seriously?! "Maybe they will in time" ?? Read your history PLEASE. Saab and Porsche were the two companies in the late 70's and early 80s who INVENTED the turbo-charged engine! Saab has made their own turbo-engines since (and they are the best). The only fuck-up with Saab is that they were owned by the greates hack in car-business since the dawn of time --> GM! They build friggin trucks with 70´s technology, american cars are the laughing stock of European car customers!

  • I know that, but Saab have been using a lot of GM motors since the GM takeover, and it looks like the new 9-5 will be too.

  • im now owning a saab 9-5 2006 and i think that people should support saab as it is great to drive. its wide and the engine is very soft... good job saab!! and saab is not ruin by gm.... its just that nobody is buying saab as it is a low profile and gm has its own difficulty and i think that gm also had no choice but to sell saab, if he had another choice, he will not choose to sell his amazing saab

  • gm ruined saab, since 92 saab made no profit and 1989 gm bought 50% of saab and later on in 92 they bought the rest of saab, so it's all gm's fault

  • i totally agree, that is the worst looking backside of any car i've ever seen, a bit like the volvo S60 2010, which failed at styling.

  • @flaxplan yea they did but they had also designed this sooo did they really?

  • @flaxplan that is not true! saab bought half of saab in 1999 and the rest after that!

  • @flaxplan i mean gm bought half of saab in 1999 and the rest in 2000

  • GM did not ruin saab ! it pisses me off when people say this its a total snobbish attitude, Saab built under the GM reign were good cars and still are highly desireable today they have great engine and Build quality, to say GM ruined Saab is insulting to the Saab Designers and engineers. I would happily buy a Saab built within the last 10 years over a BMW built within the last 10 years.

  • GM ruined Saab. I drive a 2008 9-3 and see the poor fit and finish that is so far removed from typical Scandinavian engineering.

  • Looks so much better than most of german cars!

  • funny guy

  • Is this the 1990's closest resemblance to affordable luxury sedan?

  • Let's see what the the Dutch will make of the next, if there will be any...

  • I think the car looks well poised, looks very fast even when it´s not moving, definitely love it. If I had the money I´d buy it without hesitating ;)

  • Test

  • Very nice vehicle indeed!!!

  • Materialized awesomeness

  • Comment removed

  • Lovely Spyker!

  • it is very cool

  • Good-bye MJ, good-bye SAAB...... :'(

  • @WoZIMoo

    It's actually coming back!

  • @WoZIMoo Goodbye MJ... Hello Newborn Saab!! =) Thanks to Spyker ;)

  • It looks great. I would buy it if Saab will manufacure it in Trollhättan. Swedish workers are efficient and affordable. If you would be manufactured in Germany it would be a lot more expensive and If they manufacture it in china, nobody would like to pay 30 000 € for a basic 9-5.

  • Where is it being manufacture now?

  • GM planned to build it in Rüsselsheim, Germany. But now when Saab is sold it will be built in Trollhättan, Sweden.

  • Excellent!!! Back to its Swedish roots where it belongs to be. Tks.

  • @Sanpedranoazul The manufacturing maybe, not the brand =P. Also time will tell about the future development, if any :)

  • Rûsselsheim in which factory?

  • Opel plant

  • Rüsselsheim is home to GM's Opel, but now as Saab is owned by Spyker, the new Saab 9-5 will be built in Trollhättan, Sweden.

  • @FContreras85 oh really? Saab is owned by Spyker? Best look again - no deal has been finalized. There is trouble because Spyker is backed by Russian banks, and GM doesn't want to release the company to the Russians. Also, they are trying to figure out the future of Saab parts (mostly made by Opel in Germany).

  • stop bullshitting PLEASE! thank God that damn GM has sold SAAB.

  • @Sanpedranoazul Nowhere I think since GM wasn't sure it would ever be released. I guess it will be now and since SAAB don't have many cars in stock I guess it will start to be manufactured, but what do I know.

If it is I guess it will be manufactured in Trollhättan, Sweden.

  • id buy it

  • lets hope this is a bmw killer

  • Too bad if the GM to stop Saab. For us in Finland and Sweden the Saab is an important one. Saab is stopped if I miss Saab

  • Fucking Detroit.USA cant make their own good cars, they buying european technologies and then killing them.

  • I wish the Koenigsegg buying Saab deal didn't fall through :(

    I wanted a Koenigsaab :(

I hope GM sells saab instead of killing it off...

  • So sad that saab, the inventor of the turbo for cars and several innovations like front wheel drive....

    is now kaput...

i have a saab 95, and to this day over 10 years old still to me is better then any subaru....

its just has such a punchy, tourquey, high output engine....

it just boosts so hard, its more like a porsche then anything ive driven...

i know people laugh if you compare a saab to a porsche, but thats the best similarity i can think....

  • Word! ;)

  • Actually it have not. Though it may be better than in your old cars. And of course it would be possible to get one.

  • mmm not such a nice car, i support saab but think they look kinda retarded, very technologically advannced but ugly. still would choose 1 over a volvo if i had too. But thats the thing! Because saab is so mind blowingly complicated to produce, they become fuckin expensive, then add the cost of SLOW SWEDISH labour! (and swedish factory workers earn much), you have an expensive car which are known in sweden for being hard to maintain. Saab should outsource production to india and sell cars cheaper

  • The Russians are still trying to buy Saab through Spyker.

  • Can I just say I will never buy a GM product. There products are souless, jack of all trades but master of none. I wish Opel and Vauxhall had nothing to do with GM. Saab are a great company with great history. The new Saabs that were in the pipeline looked like they would take Saab into a new bright future but GM are too short sighted to see this. Dont give up all hope, Saab may still survive

  • Totally agree with you,GM have been making so much mistakes and currently keep making mistakes ,and by killing SAAB is a huge one ,that would be like closing VOLVO,and i will never buy an american vehicle, period.

  • what..? Saab never has been sucessful, so closing it down makes so much sense actually.

  • I thought the Chinese would jump at the chance to get Saab. Its a perfect entry point into the European/Western car market. Saab have 4 new models ready to roll and variations on each model. Saab have great expertise in comfort, alternative fuel technologies and safety. They are a well loved brand with a cult following. I really dont see how you could loose out. GM neglected saab, thats why they havent been to succesful. But with a new direction they could do very well indeed.

  • I hate GM for closing a wonderful car company....WHY?!?!?!?!!

  • Great looking car, really a shame Saab is closing down =(

  • disaster!

  • In my opinion it is the nicest car. I really hope that Saab will survive and be able to sell this car. This may be a big wish-be-noticed, 9-5 cheer!

  • good video horrible song

  • RIP Jackson and SAAB.

  • @joathann

why rip SAAB ? Spayker bought saab so its not over with it yet ;)

  • Looks amazing. Much better than the preceding model; inside and out. The interior is MUCH better than before. I never forgave myself for trading-in my 2003 9-5 for a Passat. I think I'm gonna go back to Saab.

  • A Saab 9-5 is much better than Passat and 95 old and New looks very good. I don't like Vw what cars have, i think are of shit. Take back 95 is much better and have exclusivist car. Passat have many and other cars.

  • I don't like the fact it's built in Germany and not Sweden, I really HATE when GM has done with the greatness and prestige of Saab

  • Actually now they have moved the production from Germany to Sweden. The one above is build in Trollhättan, Sweden. The production has started since week 45.

  • I like the lights, but my final verdict on that stretched C-pillar and short boot lid will come once I see the car in real life...

  • gotta say pretty classy looking car no doubt but hypertenzion is totally wrong mercedes bmw and audi will alway own saab no doubt as their cars are more likeable with fit/finish power handling prestige ect. but in the end its all what the buyer is looking for

  • More BRILLIANT than Mercedes, BMW and Audi!

  • Never thought a SAAB could remind me of... Mexican... gangster style!

Anyone else here catching that, indeed very unexpected, vibe?

  • Holy fuck! This i call a dream car!

  • After I pay off my used 00' Viggen 1 more year! I will lease a new 9-5 to show my support even if it is mostly GM....we need to show SAAB that we can back them if they have a new plan! Best of luck Merbanco, chinese, Rennco, whoever can step up to the plate!

  • looks like a unfriendly dog..

    Its still cool~~

  • agree with you i'm in love with my 95

  • OMG I cant believe it. Koenigsegg have pulled out of the deal to buy saab from GM! Things were looking so peachy. Please, VW, BMW, Merc, Fiat or somebody save Saab. They have 3 models ready for release, they have a very loyal owner community. Saab has plenty of life left in them they just need some backing. If you want to help saab then google rescue saab. At the minute either saab gonna close or some crappy Chinese firm will buy them out. We cant let that happen.

  • mmmk

  • Looks like we have a nice S-class competitor now! Way to go Saab!!

  • i like that

  • This car looks very awesome AND distinctive. The styling is very functional, including exterior and interior.

  • i think that the car is great but the engines are small and without power..by the way i love this car.:)|

  • have you ever driven one?

  • overall very sexy design, but i think the plastic surrounding the vents, the dash and the back of the seats looks a bit cheap. I haven't seen it in person, it might just be pictures.

But it is a GM car, so I hope they didn't use the same crappy plastic you find in all chevy, GMC, buick, pontiac and saturn vehicules. D:

  • Konigsegg is buying Saab now so no more gm for 2010

  • Koenigsegg has bought SAAB, but don't expect the new cars to have any koenigsegg influence yet... it's still a GM platform.

  • still even when it was under GM very few of the parts were made in the US the biggest thing that was changed was the transmission is made in japan now

  • Looks like that deal fell through :( I just hope the brand isn't sold off to the wrong company, like Jaguar/Land Rover were.

  • 0:41 - The dash looks waaaay to busy from that angle, unless its just the aspect ratio.

  • You raped a beautiful car with bad music

  • There's no accounting for taste!

  • the interior looks like a scania truck

  • i H8 the v6.. v6's DO NOT represent saabs..... btw. they should put the viggen pikes piek engine in it lol

  • they need to be putting the V6 2.8 turbo engine in thayt thing, ive got it in my 93 with the hirsch upgrade(275bhp). the German competition are all way ahead of these!!! come on saab...sub 6 secs to 60 on all the top models should be standard

  • Nice and safety car. What do thing about it?

  • Damn that's sexy, I'm about to get the old one though haha.

  • haha, You'll love it, I have an '03 and it's great.

  • Love the song, Love the car, Love the brand, great video, this car will be in my driveway

  • Although my '01 9-5 LPT crapped out on me at 97,000 miles, I loved every bit of that car. She gave me all sorts of headaches, but I learned so much about cars from her. This new 9-5 looks so sleek and advanced, but sadly I'm not ready for another Saab yet (financially, that is! Otherwise I'd get a Turbo X.) I only hope for the best for both Saab and Koenigsegg.

  • i saw the new 9-5 during the IAA in Frankfurt and was shocked about the cheap materials and the finishing.

I think an KIA has a better quality. What i saw is far away from a Premiumcar

  • give me ooone........

    Nice car!

  • WHAT A SEXY CAR. I have the previouse generation, which we all no to be a class leader in comfort, saftey and satisfaction. We all hope the new one to continue this job, and stick there middel fingurs up at those snobby germans.

  • very excited for this car. Im so glad saab made it, and now they are out of the chains of gm. I would rather it was based on saabs (or a koinesegg developed one!) own platform but the insignia platform is very good anyway. It just shows how in other countries people have pride and care for their own icons of industry. Sadly in the UK the government and even the British marque owners dont give a damn and let our car/motorcycle industry die or be sold on to foreigners.

  • i cant wait for that saab to come out my dads gonna give it a test ride!!!!

  • I would declair this car the most beautifullest in the world!

  • Looks great, defenetly saving up for one now! I've always wanted to own a Koenigsegg you know!

  • The xwd system that saab has is from Haldex gen, 4.

    volvos v8 are from yammaha.

they say that the new saab 9-5 are better then Audi a6 on every stage.

  • how can they say that when the car hasnt even been build yet for production?

Becides the A6 is starting to get a bit old in car years, so if this car isnt better than a 2004 A6, saab can kiss their dreams good night. the only reason why they say it is better is because some motor journalist thinks it might be as good from auto motor and sport.

  • I always believed it was Renault to fit turbochargers into cars but Renault was the first manufacturer to apply turbo technology in the F1 field, in 1977. The first production turbocharged automobile engines came from General Motors in 1962. The A-body Oldsmobile Cutlass Jetfire and Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder were both fitted with turbochargers. Saab on the other hand is the only manufacturer who maintained the use of turbocharge since there introduction. Greetings

  • Actualy you are damn right exogy, BUT the Saab 99 presented in 1977 on the IAA, was the first turbo charged car that survived on the marked. Saab were the first who maintained the simple idea of turbo charged engines, because GM completely failed with the cars you enumerate. Saab's turbo technology was the well-engineered and still is.

    Greetz.

  • Yes, the turbo was infact used in airplanes in WWII. The turbo did however not work well on smaller engines because back then the turbo only loaded 100% when you had full throttle. Saab invented the automatic wastegate (both the internal and external wastegate) wich made the turbo work well on small engines like those in cars. Modern trucks still use the old type of turbos though.

  • This Saab really does break the traditional design theme that Saabs usually always have. Not that it was a bad thing. I loved the Saab 9-5 wagon between 2002 - 2005. But this new Saab 9-5 is just amazing. I love the interior, something that always drawn me to Saabs.

  • nothing special !

    Volvo S80 is still better..

    espicially with V8 engine ;-)

  • Sorry dude, you are wrong. Koenigsegg is coming up with V8 engines for Saab aswell. Already announced and released at the same time are these engines:

    - 160 HP 1.6 l

    - 190 HP 2.0 l

    - 300 HP 2.8 l V6

    Now let's be honest.

Ford wants to sell Volvo at all price, and the V8 engine you talk about are actualy built by Ford.

  • cool

    third engine is exciting

but as you said 300 is not enough compared to the german cars

I do like Saab's exterior style

& its better than Volvo's style

but Volvo's cars are more luxery

& they have more technology than Saab's cars.

I believe that Volvo can build its own V8 engine.

they build engines for trucks and air planes.

  • No doubt, Volvo got plenty of know-how, especialy when it comes to trucks. It is true, Volvo could build their own V8 engines, but it's not worth the bother, because they don't sell so many cars. Let's take Volkswagen: VW builds the SAME engines for -SEAT -Audi -VW -Skoda Here, the effort is appropriated. It's one engine for thousands of cars. As it comes to luxury, I think - we should'nt debate about taste :) For me, my Saab is a good-looking powerfull armchair on wheels :) Greetings.
  • One last thing, as it comes to technology, well Saab became the first with a turbo charged car in serial production. They still got the most know-how here, and turbo's are the future. The german car manufacturers laughed about it in 1979, now they better shut up :)

And the Saab-XWD [Cross Wheel Drive], invented in Sweden by Saab, is the best 4 Wheel Technology on the market.

    Greetz.

  • Comment removed

  • True. They've pretty much designed all the present GM turbo and biofuel line-up and also developed the Epsilon II platform that was used in Opel Insignia for their AWD and FWD.

Before this car GM killed 4 of SAABs models, for whatever reason, and have kept them from releasing their own tech first, which is crazy and shamelessly abusive to the brand.

  • Actually Volvo AB builds engines for trucks, and also build complete trucks.

Volvo Personvagnar AB which sells the sedans and combis we all know and love :) is not that company.

But I'm sure they can come up with an engine regardless. :)

  • Unfortunately, GM stupid management has ruined Saab identity & philosophy; they confused nord sea quality tuna with ...big mac: impreza-> 9-2x, tahoe -> 9-7x, and now the front of new 9-5 it's so similar to Insignia! Good luck to the new 9-5 jet!!!!

  • GM has had a stupid management for the past 30 years at least.

No wonder they almost went out of business.

  • amazing! the one thing i dont like is the way the vents go over the guages, it looks unfinished to me. saab has always made luxury cars, but this one is REALLY a luxury car

  • big refresh

  • Saab at it's finest.

    Amazing!

The only problem at the moment are the engines..

With Koenigsegg, Saab will get even better engines. I think 300HP is not enough compared to the german cars in the same class.

  • 1.6 and 2.0 engines with four cylinders

are there any other engine for this car?

  • Seen this is person. Looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g and totally different from anything else. Very clean, swedish design with a agressive stance - like a badass executive car

Shame if SAAB never gets to realease it. Crying shame.

  • Nice car. Silver is beautiful color for this car.

  • Now thats a Saab that can take on a BEMER

  • Well, I am not impressed over the current 9-5 I drive. Ok, the interior is nice. However, the exterior, especially the tail end says Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable to me. Booo!

  • the music spoiled good video :(

  • The back is awful (especially the cheap looking lights) and the front looks like a fucking American car. Sorry, drove 4 Saabs in the past, but this one is not going to win me back again. Hopefully with a new owner things will become better.

  • benz, bmw, audi look dull and boring compared to the stunning looks of the new saab 95

no other luxury car in the world looks like this new saab 9-5

  • really nice car, we have 9-5 my02 very good car.

  • This will be the Classical Saab in the future like the old 900.

  • I thinck thet SAAB will be better in everuthing because GM isn't owner any more. GM abolish SAAB,but I am glad because SAAB is in the new begining and whit this car,and I hope new 93 and 9x air they will coquer world. This SAAB 95 i so amazing, and good luck SAAB! Greeting from Serbia!

  • i don't know why but I FUCKING WATN THIS CAR :D

  • Sharp car, I wouldn't mind the trunk being a bit flatter.. it kinda took a GM shape, looks too cookie cutter....

  • I like it from Brazil ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Nice of this person to post these pics, but what's up with "Billie Jean" as the soundtrack? An odd choice. Why not Paul McCartney & Wings' "Jet"?

  • from the profile view, the back does look like a lexus, the front looks kinda like the front of the i robot audi rsq and i see saab kept the weirdly thick c pillar as well. this car looks kinda weird :s

  • NO it looks like a SAAB!

  • MY family have owned many saabs. ANd all have been good, solid, reliable, well equipped, nice performing cars. Im so glad saab have survived, and this will be a good car as it is based on the insignia. Ok I know people will say is it a real saab? But people have been saying that since the old 900 stopped being produced. You might as well say the same about audi, rolls royce, aston martin, lambo etc as none of them are independent either. Good luck to saabs new future.
