  • She's the girl

  • what do you mean from the west country whats wrong with that twat

  • AGUANTE MASSIVE ATTACK!!! ... DESDE LATINOAMERICA

  • God cannot sing better...

  • this song sums up the essence of unrequited love

  • opened my mind and led to my spiritual development. So many years ago and the love still goes on. Peace to all x

  • @CJFilmz are you ACTUALLY serious??!?!!??

  • no offense but i dont get whats so good about it. i personally think it's because british people never see or hear black women, so they think it sounds completely new and amazing.

  • Good songs like this are timeless

  • The video reminds me of a ghetto version of the Bittersweet Symphony music video.

  • @ThomasLimbrey They're from the West Country... Hardly Ghetto.

  • @ThomasLimbrey Bittersweet Symphony video was a chav version of this video

  • someone has a question about these wizards

  • class

  • I like how Daddy-G, Robert Del Naja and Mushroom all make cameo appearances in the background.

  • Fuck. I'm 27 now, and I remember listening to this song in the radio as a hit, I must have been 7 or 8 years old. Damn, music has regressed.

  • not my video but a general opinion, so its not me trying to get views as i have no vids on here anyway.

  • watch?v=eu57i3r7Tyg for Massive attack unfinshed sym... but better bass, quality and volume

  • Great song ans featured on UK shameless last night.

  • <3 <3 <3 This was the song that started by love affair w/MASSIVE

  • InsatiabLe_PieCe__________!!!

  • I never heard of these guys until I started watching House and I am so glad I was curious about the intro tune. Massive Attack is an era I would have loved to live through. I love the music and the beats and the voices!

  • Fantastic to remember this song. A truly international sound. I was in the Netherlands when it came out. The video made me homesick for Oakland. It looks like LA or Oakland. But, the sound is really WORLD!

  • best sound expressing freeness and living it up in every way

  • God is a dj

  • lol i thought this was 'unfinished symphony' for years

  • nevertheless, still a bad ass track

one of my favorites, next to Protection

... Massive keeps on killing it

  • Moby? Great artist but nothing like Massive Attack. His most popular album was a few years after this song. Moby isn't comparable really.

  • @TheLinz76 I agree with you but Moby had a top 10 hit with Go in the UK. That song came out in November 1990 and was a hit in early 1991. 2 months before Unfinished Sympathy came out but Go was a straight out dance tune while this was a completely different sound.

  • Infinitely Superb; Sheer Class

  • Don't fancy going there for my holidays.

Not sure what those metal balls are for, but I wouldn't want to ask him.

  • @mrbeancounter90 Chinese stress balls, nothing sinister you roll them in your palm, they are a stress relief method activity (a hollow metal ball with a clanger inside them ... like a bell)

  • @trevpartington the holiday thing tho I totally get . who wants to go to the USA? :D

  • Great video

  • Truly great track, this lasts the tests of time. The outro is superb, but the best thing for me is the simple piano interlude that "cuts" through the track in my opinion - at 2:31

  • Este video es una una joya, de misterio y de realidad.

  • I never heard this before until today- WOW! Was listening to a Madonna song, I wnat you which Massive Attack produced and was led to this. It makes me realise just how much crap we get nowadays, this moves me, makes me want to dance, makes me think, feel and I just cant stop listening!!! I am gonna get the album this track is from called Blue Lines

  • @isohave I know what you mean, I bought this CD. back in 1990 and I still listen to it just about every day... this classic never gets old.

  • @isohave : Really nice comment ;)

  • @isohave WOW! you've missed out - you won't be disappointed with the album - absolutely choc-full with brilliance...enjoy and welcome to the club

  • @isohave whats the weather like on your planet.where you been mate?

  • @kennygriffin1000 Probably from watching too much tv music channels, they only show lady gaga unfortunately.I'm breathing the free air now my friend. Any more recommendations of music from this era greatly appreciated :)

  • the way she enters the song iis like something else. Its like us ,the listners ,came in a middle of her song... Melodie-wise... This chick said FUCK THE POP RULES OF STRUCTURE!!!

  • 20 years and this song is STILL perfection. i don't think this amount of force can ever fade.

  • fire !!!!!

  • this is my favorite song of all time. everything about it, her voice, the range of instruments is just heaven. i can close my eyes and think about my childhood and just life in general. i literally tear up whenever i hear this. so beautiful.

  • Vous verres tost & tard taire grand change,

    Horreurs extremes, & vindications:

Que si la lune conduicte par son ange,

    Le ciel s'approche des inclinations

  • This song just kinda puts everything in perspective.

  • SHE IS SO RIGHT ! Love this song

  • One of my fave songs of all time - one of the most powerful voices in history - You can really see its influence on Emeli Sande in her 'Daddy' xoxo luvit

  • The Title...is a Joke?

  • 4:37 I love how the lady in the turquoise sweater sways her umbrella back and forth.

  • classic x

  • why is Kurt Russle on a skate board with no legs following the singer?????????????

  • Lynch's :)

  • love this song and this melody

  • can I watch this street on StreetView?

  • @jackmatthewtyson.... no its forbidden....

  • @heba1979 oh, good thing I haven't done that yet then :)

  • Just a sound of a free multicultural civilization. No homogenous nor communist societies could accomplish these vibes, I think...

  • Bought this when titled UNFINISHED SYMPHONY , why the change ? Bought it same day as BITTER SWEET SYMPHONY by The Verve , guess i was feeling classically minded at time or else just in the mood for a walk.

  • kids... i present to you...real music :D

  • Glad this has got the high views it deserves now. I remember watching this 2 years ago at 500,000 and thinking WTF!!??

  • im sorry but why has the top comment got nothing to do with the dog wearing sunglasses at the start ... ITS A DOG WEARING SUNGLASSES!

  • @MrMcpimpy Holy shit youre right! It passed my mind like its normal doggy style :-O

  • probably the best song making love

  • I think this song came out in 1991...that means its 21 years old its timeless...I started smoking weed in 91 and I still am smoking it...I have to stop.

  • @MrBennys youd be better off to stop drinking thats the real killer

  • @benhart47 Hallo,I don't drink alcohol,I have lost to many loved one's threw alcohol,I just want to be T total, have you seen the massive attack, live with me video, that video is enough to put you off alcohol, have good one mate.

  • ohhh! best track from M.A., hands down.

  • when are they finishing it?

  • 20 years later and it still sounds fresh:-)

  • thumbs up if you are listening this on 21th decemb- [meteor crashes his head]

  • Bruce Springstreen - Streets Of Philadelphia is similar to this, anyway, both captivating videos and songs

  • I didnt come for the ads, fuck vevo!

  • Not unfinished listening

  • Such a Brilliant feel good sound, i still love and play it now!!!!

  • Where this video was shot?. I think it is a spontaneous video shot in any street of L.A

  • Understated heartbreak love it.

  • I think that's the sound of NY..

  • @smirnesca British band, British sound!

  • @itsanillusion100 yes, but I think - although the many differences between the both of you - that british and american people are sons of the same seed..and this sound is close to moby, in my opinion, and he's american..

but, to tell the truth, I am usually quite able to notice the proper sound of american music, as something different from the british one...this time I've failed, I can say it without any problem.

  • @smirnesca this is not a NY sound. This is a sound from the UK.

  • @Starkardur like i've already said, my comment wasn't blinking at any kind of musical patrioctism..for example, for me moby' "porcelain" is the sound of san francisco because that was the music i've listenend to when i was there..but moby is a newyorker, so what I feel does not mean that I underestimate or ignore is "newyorkness"....!

but I understand that you must be proud your country has massive attack between its sons..

  • @smirnesca I am not from London or from England or the UK for that matter. I´m from Iceland but listening to this song in Reykjavík in 1991 doesn´t make me say the sound of Reykjavík because it isn´t. Its a british band with a sound originated from there.

  • @Starkardur well, now I can live an happy life....honestly, I wouldn't waste my time answering to your topics, if you could only stop to attack me for a line I've written long time ago..i can't understand it..because there are so many enciclopedia everywhere, that here it would be great just to listen to the music and say what you have in mind without any "I'm-the-smartest" someone waiting behind the corner just to criticize and correct you..

  • Ron Paul... e.e

  • @EchoedSentiments Is he in this video?

  • I love the 90's.

  • @tomharding i prefer 80's

  • kommatara lemeeeeeeee osa xronia k na perasoun

  • @BluMind, I also found 2005 remake by "BK, VinylGroover, and the Red Head" and started listening to it.

I know it doesn't have the soul of the original, but I heard that one before I remembered this.

Spun by DJ Tom Harding @ Sensation:Black 2005

    youtube.com/watch?v=Yq3skviS2PM

  • I guess one of the best videos ever. Imagine the effort it took to make this one shoot, with all the things happening. The song is fantastic, and Shara Nelson singing it with her wonderfull soulfull voice. Epic.

  • ofcourse im listening to it in 2012, i cant go back in time, retards seriously

  • @DeadFishDirector of course we can listen to this song

  • awsome

  • Because it's winter in The Netherlands. And it's very cold. Sunday night it's going to freeze.

  • @micheldiab1992

I looked at the forecast for The Netherlands. It's actually pretty warm there.

  • I'm missing the summer if i see this video.

  • yep.no age had more mystery in the air then the 90's.now you just meet a woman and you hope you'll fuck her before she fry your brain.

  • Riddems likes these... Pure Flava!

  • I can't stop listening to this song, so laidback and relaxing for the soul and mind.

  • Why do so many fucktards leave comments saying 'Thumbs up if your listening in 2012' and it actually gets to the top comments. WHY??! It's not even a worthy comment and people should vote it down!

  • the rising intensity of those strings starting at 3:27 is insane. Like not "Oh wow, what an enjoyable moment, this song is most good" insane, like "Holy shit I want to go run bollock naked in the rain then sit down and write some poetry" insane.

  • I was listening to this on my iPod today when I was walking home and just like her in the video I just didn't give a shit about the people around me! Legendary tune!

  • timeless, classic

  • Tricky @ he phone. :-)

  • Onother classic British band ! Trip Hop, The Bristol sound etc ! Portishead, Tricky etc ! Great era ! Peace

  • imagine this covered by the royal symphonic orchestra with violins and stuff :)

  • I was intrigued by this woman's beautiful face in the thumbnail. Fortunately, this is a great song too.

  • @nichiren280767

  • I know that I've been mad in love before And how it could be with you Really hurt me baby, really cut me baby How can you have a day without a night You're the book that I have opened And now I've got to know much more The curiousness of your potential kiss Has got my mind and body aching Really hurt me baby, really cut me baby How can you have a day without a night You're the book that I have opened
  • best song..

  • Haven't heard this for a long long time, and first time i've seen the video. Kudos to OP, great stuff!

  • The best song of the 90s.

  • A delicadeza do bom gosto, Congratulações.

  • Does VEVO know anything about volume leveling?

  • my favourite song of all time. Saw Massive Attack at the Albert Hall - Mezzanine Tour - this song was the finale - with a 20 piece string orchestra. The word 'amazing' does not do the performance justice....

  • This is the first time I've heard this song? Why? I've been missing out.

  • Bristol lol great song though. great voice.

  • swietna

  • Still stunning, is it really almost 20years ago?

  • One of the greatest songs of all time, yeah I said it!

  • the best ............

  • I lived and breathed Bristol music scene in the early 90s and this was my wedding song strange just those words"Your the book that i have opened" Unforgettable cheers!!

  • This is timeless x

  • cliche comment - but this is timeless, it's one of those tracks that can't date and was also ahead of its time, and will always remain both those things.

  • this song was only gppd because oakenfold mixed it!!!

  • I like bacon

  • beautiful music

  • R.I.P 90's

    Probably the coolest decade ever

The last years of civilization before the Internet took over the world

  • @1IIOOOO I'm so nostalgic for the 90's! I wish I could go back...

  • immer noch kult

  • @1IIOOOO agree about the ninetees having good music.

but you're enjoying the internet now... xo

  • @1IIOOOO The internet is not to blame for the fall of civilization.. general stupidity is...

Today's kids are spoiled unintelligent ungrateful brats.

Trust me.. I know.. I am one of them

  • @bretert The Internet feeds the indulgence of todays lazy spoilt ungrateful brats.

  • @1IIOOOO It had already taken over by the mid-to-late-90's. Not enough people had realized that, yet.

  • @ViciousCannibal

It truly began to take over the world in the very late 90's (98/99) and by the early 2000's, it had officially taken over, and the Internet age had begun

  • @1IIOOOO You're right bro, but for me the Internet is the biggest thing ever, and only people are laziest day by day.

  • @Sebo92teo The positives of the Internet outweigh the negatives, but there are still alot of negatives. It's turned us into these lazy indulgent hermits who spend most of our day behind a computer and we don't have to work to do anything anymore.

Before the internet, I had to go to the library and really look through hundreds of books for whatever I was researching. Today, people just go to Google and it's got everything you need

  • @1IIOOOO Exactly! Thats the point. Actually our perspective is The wall-e vision. Did you saw a Pixar's story named Wall-e? I think 'yes'. So now I have no qestion.

  • @1IIOOOO thus giving people access to books when they don't have the time or energy to go and search through hundreds of them.

You couldn't whinge on the internet without the internet, I hope you realise.

  • @incrediblejessen I'm not attacking the internet for making life easier. I love the Internet. I'm just pointing out how it's made us less social and active and explaining a small difference between life before and after the Internet

  • Comment removed

  • @jb260683d To true buddy

  • @1IIOOOO amen brother

  • @1IIOOOO You need to blame The Matrix

  • @1IIOOOO I only want remember you, that '90s was a decade od Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys too, so... ;)

  • @jodynaa Yeah, The Backstreet Boys, I remember those douchebags

The late 90's was when Music died IMO

But other than music, the late 90's wasn't that bad, and the early and mid 90's were great

  • @1IIOOOO well... you're right.

  • @1IIOOOO hmmm sad but true.

  • this song/video moves with the kind of speed and grace so many new artists can only dream about

    very impressive, subtle and complex

it's so mesmerizing, provocative, and just plain wonderful to listen to

  • 0:01 i've got ballz of steel!

  • Simply Eternal...Thanks Massive... It's so good...

  • i like to think i have listened to a lot off amazing tunes from roughly 86- present but this has to be right up there as one of the best some tunes really grow on u but this just graps u straight away like when i heard I AM THE RESSURECTION by the roses its just one of those classics u never forget....

  • "a soul without a mind

    a body without a heart

    i'm missing every part"

good thing the song isnt missing anything

  • This song is timeless!!! Still sounds fresh!! Great voice, great video, great music.... Love everything about it
