i think it's the ledge sensor. there's another video on youtube that explains that you need to put aluminum foil over the sensors so that it doesn't interpret black flooring as ledge.
I know exactly what is it about. You have to clean it. Take the screw-driver, brush , aircain and go in to. I have to clen my mothers roomba one-two times at year when the roomba starts with this behavior.
If you search on the internet, I think google "roomba troubleshooting" you can push a series of buttons to put it into diagnostic mode. It will help pinpoint which sensor is acting up. Usually one of the optical sensors is blocked with dust. These things become high maintenance after a short time unfortunately. Tires breaking, beater bar bushings going out, and battery failure to name a few. The wheel sensors are troublesome too.
Yup, that's what it looks like. The real fix was running the battery down to dead, pulling the battery and holding the start button down for 10 seconds, putting the battery back and charging for 16 uninterrupted hours.

That happened with my robot, and that was for the battery. We changed the battery and it's working good again.

Кафель рефленый, у него детекторы, по этому ему кажеться что он на окрайне и дальше плитки не едет. Так что это умный румба.

poor roomba is retarded.
needformadnessman 2 years ago 42
I believe the polictically correct version of that would be "Poorly Programmed". Shame we can't apply the same definition to humans =P
britbeetle 2 years ago 3
oh lol XD
needformadnessman 2 years ago 2
I don't think it's that, I think it's seeing the mortar in between the tiles as cliffs.
d0md0mt0mt0m 2 years ago 5
Perhaps it sees the room between the tiles as clifs?
stephano1990 2 years ago 4
mine did the same thing, i cleaned the cliff sensors, but it didnt help.
i ended up just throwing it away.
neat machine, but not reliable at all. mine lasted a year...barely.

If it is still a trouble, you might as well hack it and make it do YOUR stuff. And you have the same Roomba as I do.

George21T 3 years ago
Thas is no true, in Europe it cost this type cca 320$, i have my scoobas and roomba from USA, it is cheaper only the reclamation can be difficult.
AxelX1 3 years ago
really? cos they don't have them here in Britain, well i've never seen one.
squarebanana94 3 years ago
i bet that one spot was pretty clean
fireonice12492 3 years ago 3
It looks to me like the bumper on the front is broken, so it is always thinking it is crashing into something (and thus always backing up).

Ours has exactly the same malfunction. We were on the verge of sending it for repair, but now we've got to try this "cold boot" strategy.
garyspokane 3 years ago
Very impressive devices. Can't think of anything I'd rather spend a hundred bucks on.......even IF they crawled around the room spreading dust.

You should have gotten the brain surgery Roomba.
