  • with a good surround sound stereo you can mimic headphones' bianural ability very accurately

  • Pearl kam binaural

  • the sound of his shoes sound like mario jumping on yoshi

  • Brilliant this is honestly the best Holophonic audio Ive heard in a while, and when I opened my eyes for the video the second time round it made it even more amazing. Brilliantly done Keep up the good work XD

  • cool sound on my sennheiser hd 497 ;-)

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • you must remember that everything is supposed to be happening behind you, also lol no chord in reflection at 3:41

  • holophony?

  • thanks for uploading

  • Great job. Seems like the binaural could have used a teensy bit more center fill, but othewise well done.

  • Nothing new

  • if you want to hear a REAL example of bi-whatever search virtual haircut

  • shouldnt the sounds side be reversed in the mirror?

  • @inferno596 i wondered this myself until i realised i was looking intoa reflection, when ti ges to his'left ear' its actually a reflection of his right ear, hence you hear it in your right ear

  • For those who don't know, binaural IS stereo, but it's recorded by getting a hollowed out dummy head and putting the microphones in the ear canals for recording.. This allows stereo sound to be recorded in the same manner as you would actually hear it in person. That's why binaural stereo sounds 3D. You have to use headphones because they are separate speakers, and "out loud" speakers overlap their sound waves in the air and messes up the effect. It's basically just stereo in that case.

  • So... the dummy head is behind him? :D

  • Well... Audio quality is incredible, left/right effect is just great, but I have the impression that front/rear depth is working too slightly to being noticed, hence the simple stereo sound impression. And there's no up/down depth.

There's a free App for iPhone/iPod (3D Aduio Illusions) wich plays some holophonic audio clips, and it's so well made you can really guess the position of the audio source. Not only left/right or front/rear, but also up/down. It's incredible.

  • @SeymourDrayton really, holophonic sounds dont really give that good of a front/behind feel at all.

  • Binarual recording only really gives you sound BEHIND you, hence the mirror effect. Still a clever use of the medium. Love it.

  • I honestly have no idea what I thought of that video.

  • @timothy22597 Same, I was tempted to give it a 'dislike'

  • THIS IS AWESOME.

  • the guy who nails that nail by throwing it in the air

  • isn't there Holophonic porn ?

  • damn that was great!!!!

  • I could really only tell it starting to be binaural at the 2:45 mark, before it, it seemed stereo.

  • I found the visual performance to be more impressive than the auditory. Sound stage for me was about 2ft from head on average.

  • I don't think some people commenting on this video understand what a binaural effect is.

  • where can I buy Holoball??

  • Odd that the bunarural effect doesn't work with my surround sound headphones...

  • haha at the ball looping around. Well done guys!

  • This is addicting sensory sensation right here!

  • THE LAWS OF PHYSICS NO LONGER APPLY. I MUST TRY INCEPTION.

  • advert??

  • What was it meant to be

  • The L/R sides are wrong. It must be the other way around if it is to simulate what the person heres.

  • @Maggnet L/R are the correct way around, the mirror is just confusing you.

  • @miku110 Yes, I realized that later as well. (^_^)" I thought I had deleted the post, but seems I failed with that as well...

  • lol @ 3:09 my elbow moved on my leg and made a vibration on a plastic wire, haha that freaked me out. Is this Feel-o-vision?

  • It really works if you don't watch the video, and instead just close your eyes. then it's like you're really there.

  • Weak. the depth field is all up in my face.

  • this is holophonic, just VERY subtle! you almost have to hear for it

  • this is not holophonic

  • Man ! It is so real. :) The sound made me felt like I am in the cinema.

  • I wish they'd make a holophonic porno ;DD

  • It would be better if there weren't so many things happening at once. It's like sensory overload.

  • the video looks pretty and all but this one watch?v=o1cF4yxZ5Wo can actually pull the holophonic trick.

  • YouTube kills the quality I see.

  • Or they recorded each ball bounce individually, and played them in that sequence.

  • @Freekchild No. The ball was rendered in a 3D application and the man in front was just masked out and put onto the scene were they were moving objects.

  • @arkamys Yes, I know how binaural recording works. But the ball seems to bounce in very particular (and very unlikely places), repeatedly. I assume either drums were set up in those locations, or the ball that is bouncing defies physics.

  • It's easy to see how they did this. They just placed drums in the places where they wanted the ball to "bounce" and they repeatedly hit them in the right order. Then the video was made. It's simple really.

  • switch to 480, i think it's pretty vital!

  • When he took out that bouncy ball, I knew he meant business.

  • Congratulations. I think Left channel is in the Right and Right in the Left.

  • I'm afraid many folks today are a bit jaded by the average experience of biaural sound in video games, movies, and even many modern TV shows. No one with a home theater system is going to "ooh and ah" that the sound in this video followed the bouncing ball or other things happening on screen. The point however was accurately demonstrated that one may increase the illusion of "being in the room" observing by splitting up the sounds directionally to either ear to match motion or location.

  • Guys this is incredible! It shows that is not about playing the sound but recording it. Even trough using some cheap headphones one can get incredible quality for brain's judgement of quality is something very funny.

  • sounds so much better with vuvuzela turned on! ;)

  • While it IS holophonic...it doesn't seem the effect was done quite as good as other videos/audio i've seen/heard. It's not bad, but it doesn't really "feel" like there's ACTUALLY a ball bouncing around behind me or anything. It just isn't done real great. Maybe the speakers were too close, or too far away from each other? Not sure, but it's just not done "great".

  • With emerging 3D technologies about to explode on the market, hasn't binaural finally found its time to really take off? We think so.

  • 5 STAR

    Well done

  • maybe it was recorded originally with binaural recording... but it's definitely coming through in stereo

  • hi @weslee54, thanks for your interest.

binaural is stereo. it's an effect for headphone use and always uses 2 channels. it can't anything other than stereo since we only have 2 ears.

if by stereo you mean that it is just a panning from the left to right ear, i can assure you that it is not since i saw the guys who made it moving speakers around a dummy head.

  • @ArkamysListen binaural is not stereo!

  • @weslee54 please use headphones

  • there was no need to make a visual to this realy because it works ALOT better with your eyes shut :S

  • Crap holophonic. Sounds like ordinary stereo.

  • so this isn't just stereo? sounded like it to me

  • Definitely not stereo. This is a binaural recording.

  • @ArkamysListen Can someone create this effect with music or can it only be done by the moving of microphones

  • @rikkeoanna please use head phones

  • HAHA!! Excellent binaural video. What mics were used for this and what software? I like how you got the animated ball to sync with the sound. I assume you recorded the sound first..? Anyways, brilliant.

  • and this is good for?

  • When listening to this video over headphones you will hear the sounds (notably the holophonic ball) coming from all around you. This is an audio effect that is generated by sound engineers and the like and an effect you will not get when listening normally over headphones

  • @ArkamysListen So its just the sound that makes this special?

  • In essence yes. The scenario paired with an impressive audio effect, when using headphones.

  • Look at her hair at 2:18 - 2:24 .... Nice sound anyway

  • awesome sound! my headphones sounded like a cinema!

  • whats it about?

  • i dont quite understand this

  • I would love to have a 1080p rendering of this if it were possible, or available.

  • I will try and get one up asap

  • @ArkamysListen Thank you. That would be very very much appreciated. Very nice video by the way.

  • Yes, definitely reminiscent of the Dharma videos (especially those that showed the clips of the parapsychological testing) and Sprite's "sublymonal" ads.

  • VERY NICE LIGHT SHOW AND SOUND

  • Wow, does this remind anyone else of those Dharma training videos from Lost?

  • very nice

  • that was cool!

  • lol the guy in the back at 2:06 throws the nail up and hammers it to the wall, dont know if its staged and the nail is already in the wall but i thought it was pretty cool.

  • wow nice!!
