Mr. Goldberg's short critique of President Bush's ersatz conservatism is accurate, but why don't more conservatives - Bruce Bartlett excluded - hold him accountable for profligate spending and record deficits?

There are some speaking against Bush's profligate spending and record deficits. The administration suppresses news coverage of those who speak against them. Speaking against Bush would be seen as speaking out against the Republican Party. As sedition. That could spell political suicide. The others will only say something after he leaves office. Pussies!
