  • i remember buying this in the 80's and having my mind blown

...my second fave CT release after the Pink Opaque

thx for making your beautiful vids

  • such a touching spectral beautiful voice among a forest of crystal clear instruments

very unique sound matches by the pics of this vid.

thanks for having introduce me this talented high band

  • @TheMauvetys Hi there, its been my pleasure to introduce

this amazing band to a whole new generation of music lovers :)

Many thanks for your kind comments my friend :)

  • @astralhed Hi there,your very welcome my friend :)

Many thanks for your kind words, :-))

  • Happy 2012 SHUM !!! you're a SPECIAL person... SO happy to be around in the same "time/life zone" as yourself(& CAROPASK)... >the 'twins< will transcend us~ and be played in the future (with awe and inspiration) ((^_^)) !!! much love brother.

  • @egeneric Hi there my friend, your very kind, Im nothing special at all,

but the music of this amazing band sure is, Im so pleased to have such

amazing friends here on youtube, all brought together through the CTs music.

Hope you to have a great New Year dear egeneric Xx ;-[)

  • Well takes me back. I bought this album and like all albums I played it at 33 rpms....I liked it but thought "I really thought it was a female singing" I played it several times and then discovered the album should have been played at 45 rpm's........much embarrassment later And then a restored credibility...it was a great album ( ones child hood embarrassments I guess....Im sure everyone posting here wont even remember 45 and 33 rpm

  • @prestel Haha, I certainly remember 33 and 45 rpm and even 76 rpm

Thats so funny your story of playing their Treasure LP at the wrong speed,

Often bands would for some reason change the normal album 33rpm to 45

the idea was that it gave a better sound quality apparently.

Great story, and good to hear from you my friend :-))

  • Don't mind me, just gonna compare Liz Fraser to Lady Gaga and ruin this otherwise-pristine comments section.

  • @vitriolicAmaranth Lol everyone's welcome, love Gaga to :))

  • heave-ho the journey, this is where it started for me, ever since been

unravelling the golden-fleece. thought to myself i've found this great

greek band and the singer sounds like the most beautiful girl in the world.

ever since being trying to keep the mystery going by trying to know

as little about them as possible and avoiding the real lyrics.

  • @posypity Hi there dear friend, glad your enjoying this awesome

music, loving your comments, I agree, I to avoid any info about

the band or lyrics, all unnecessary, its important to keep the

mystery around them for me, and the mood and feelings I get

from their music is all that matters :))

  • @posypity these are scottish?

  • @MrThereisnogo hi, i know, but i always discovered a group

just by buying an album i liked the cover of and because of

the song titles so i had no idea who or what i was getting at

the time. i did think liz was singing in greek when i first listened

to the treasure album. it wasn't til athol brose that i realised

they were scottish- not wanting it to ruin my greekgoldfleecefantasy.

i think after victorialand i'd pictured them as icelandic though.

    [chameleonisation]

  • Oh my god this voice!!!!!

  • @Opotiti1 Haha well put my friend....!!!! :)

  • It's all true about being way ahead of their time. Still rate this band in my top 5 of all time and mean A LOT to us, we chose them for our wedding music whilst guests looked on puzzled ( 'what ARE they singing?' Many hadn't even heard them before). hee hee Totally beautiful. Love to see these on you tube.

  • @partytearsfew Hi there, always good to hear from other CTs fans,

its true it does give you a warm feeling when others look puzzled

on hearing their music, thats always a good sign ha-ha and yeah

the next comments are usually what is she singing? he-he

  • @PolythenePamm Well said my friend, and a dream you never want to wake from. :)

  • cocteautwins1 i totally agree with u...way ahead of their time, and nothing but good...takes u to a place where emotion and gooodness meet...nothing but beauty...epic..........

  • @nnicholss Hi there, your so right, they were so ahead of their time back in the 80s-

that the music scene sadly still hasn't caught up with them yet.... cheers nnicholss :)

  • I see that the Peel session from 1984 has this song titled "Peep Bo".... I remember having a tape of the session but I don't know if one of the other tracks "Whisht" just never made it to any records or had its name changed as well. ..

    Any idea???

  • @petesn Hi Their, I,ve never heard it called that before, on my BBC

Sessions CD which has lots of the Peel sessions, its just called Ivo,

Thats new to me also Whisht" they may just have been working titles,

and as you say were changed later on, that could be rare the tape you

have, now that would be my friend...sorry I cant help you about that...

Thanks for your top comments petesn......!!!

  • forever in love with cocteau twins

  • @jamf800320 Me too my friend, its an affair that lasts forever..!!!!

  • @jamf800320 Ohhhhhhh yesssss.....

  • Dear Shum,

As a kid in the 80's possessing knowledge of this music gave me a sense of

superiority. I was of coarse simply masking the pain of growing up and the

rejection by my peers! It was what poets and great literary figures would refer

    to as the"Folly of Youth".

Though I know, and am sure you would agree that the music stands on its'

own, I am truely grateful that one such as yourself is among us to reimagine

these classics, enabling others to be moved anew!

  • @blainebill39 Hi Blaine, always good to hear from you my friend,

I think I felt the same back then to, it was kinda like being part

of this exclusive club, a musical style that was way above any-

other that had been before, it felt really cool to have found this

group of people that sounded so weirdly different, and damn good.

    the Cocteau Twins....!!

Your so kind Blaine, it would be so nice if any of my videos have brought

the bands music to a new generation, many thanks my friend.!!

  • Treasure is , in my opinion, the highlight of CT.:s musical craftsmanship . Liz sounds so sweet ,desolated, serious ,relaxed, light and - angry - at the same time. Signature of a master.

  • @Funkywallot Well said my friend....I totally agree with you....!!!

"Treasure" is just that, a pure Treasure......!!!!!

Thanks for your brilliant comments Funkywallot.......

  • We all adore your Ty-dee-bowl.

  • Cheers my friend, good to hear from ya..!!

"Treasure" album, its filled with heavenly

  • ale to dobrzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

mUzyka i klimaty stworzone obrazami są przecudne....

  • Hi amoretka39, I like your video for "Ivo"

    Very cleverly done my friend....

    Great hearing from you...

  • i know that a guy called benni de massa played drums for the cocteaus for a while and another geezer called dave palfreeman did aswell, dave palfreeman also played drums for the screaming trees but dont quote me on that, because im not 100% sure.

  • Cheers for that mate..I didn,t know what

his name was.. but thanks for letting me

    know these two guys names...!!

    Much appreciated NMillar917...

  • There it is at 0:40!!! Finally!! I've just caught my first glimpse ever of the drummer. Most CT songs have percussion, but no credit is ever given.

Shum, what info do you have about who was or who were used for percussion? Just curious if the same drummer used in the studio was the one used on tour as well?

    Cheers!!

  • Hi mate...Wished I could tell ya who the

drummer is,I,m sure someone out their

will know..but as far as I,m aware,he is the same guy who played in the studio,

as well as the live shows..I,ve spotted him

a few times on live shows...sorry I,m not

able to help with his name for ya...

Always great to hear from ya mate...

    Thanks again..!!!

  • when i first heard this i thought the two singers. i've only got the Heaven or Las Vegas to compare (and a few favorited songs on youtube) but her vocals on Treasure seem loads more... powerful? i dunno. and the contrast of her true voice to the falsetto "weep wip"s is lovely <3

  • Hi my friend..yeah,I think on the "Treasure"

and "Head Over Heels" albums, her voice

was getting quite full and powerful, and

as you say,the contrast with these strong

    vocals,and the higher falsetto ones,really

do stand out so amazingly together...

You also sound like a true fan my friend..

its really great hearing from you..!!

    Great comments joelly..!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this! This is probably my favorite Cocteau Twins song. Brilliant video too. The Cocteau Twins are so original and amazing. Elizabeth Fraser is one of the greatest vocalists ever.

  • Your very welcome Alpha, great choice in

song...I,m pleased you like the video.!!

Your right the Cocteau's are so unique.!!

    Like you,I just love Liz's voice,its heavenly.

    Great comments my friend....!!!

  • Thanks! Where's this footage from? Did they release a live video or anything?

Oh and do you know if Lorelei is on youtube anywhere? I can find almost all of Treasure except that, which is there is only a really buzzy live version for. I was kind of surprised since that's one of their most popular songs. Amazing song too. Ivo's even better though.

  • Hi Alpha, I made the video myself by just putting different clips together, and using my own film shots... As to "Lorelei" I did a video for that also, I,ve done videos for all the "Treasure" LP, But YouTube decided to remove it, apu.. I will try to re-upload it,but they block videos, worldwide, alas..!! It was a fave vid of mine..love that track too...!! WARNER are the ones that are forcing YouTube to remove music..!! Simon Raymonde wanted to help me, with my troubles, Ace guy..!!
  • Yeah, brilliant job on the video! It really looks professional and suits the song wonderfully. I was wondering where the clips of the band were from, though? I mean it looks like it's from a live version of this song, right? I'm pretty interested in how something like this would be sound live. Do they have any official live videos or anything?

Aw damn... stupid Warner... oh well good luck with that! Thanks so much for all the songs you've posted and great job on all the videos!

  • Thanks mate..glad you enjoyed the video. The clips I used I think were when they- appeared on a live show, just cant think which one it was off hand (I,ll check that- out!) Could have been a show called- "later with Jools Holland" but they were singing something totally different, thats what i like to do,make it look as though its the same song their singing... They have released some live material, but I,m not sure if they were used for video Thanks for your ace comments mate.!!
  • Oh wow, that was for a different song? You did an amazing job matching it up! Like since I couldn't find a live version of Ivo I thought maybe it might be footage from a different song, but I looked at it again and thought, "No way it's different, the match-up's almost perfect!" Brilliant work!

  • Cheers for that mate..

    That's such a great compliment...!!!

It helps jiggling the camera around, this

can give the impression of Liz singing the

same words, plus for some reason, no

matter what song I,ve done,it naturally

looks like Liz is singing that track...

    Much appreciate your fab comments....

    Thanks again Alpha..!!!

  • thanks for sharing this album, good job mate!

    you are great!

  • Your very welcome ziopoe..I,m very happy

that you enjoyed all the videos,to this truly

    amazing album..!!!

Its really great to hear from other fans!!!!

  • Cheers Funkywallot, Its always great to

    come-across other Cocteau's fans mate!

    mean something!!!

Like you, they also have a very special -

    place in my heart!!

    Thanks my friend,great comments!!

  • My first boyfriend's name is Ivo, so I was so surprised to see a song by that name. That was how I came about buying my first Cocteau Twins album.

Cannot stop, must get home to Columbus, keep driving, 21 hours straight. It'll be okay, this album is repeating in my stereo the whole time. Good memories

  • Thanks my friend! Good memories indeed!!

I hope you got home safe and well!!21 hours-

driving is a very long time, wow!!.

But what music to accompany you! The Cocteaus!

    Fab comments Sashadigsweed!(Top name too!)

  • Treasure was the first Cocteau Twins album that I bought. So, IVO was the first CT music I played on my record player.

It was a revelation to me...

  • super

  • Thanks for that orenatz!

  • This song just rocks my socks!!! Hope you do a video for Aloysius!?

  • Thanks friend! funny you should say that?

  • Wow! Very impressive. Nice thing to end the day with - and I hope it colors my dreams more than all the bad news I just got caught up with on CNN.

  • I hope so to! thanks mate!!

  • ah yes, IVO! one of the first C/T songs i ever heard, and wow was i ever STRUCK by it. every layer, every element like nothing i'd ever heard previous! the way i'd always imagined truly beautiful music COULD be. and this video works PERFECTLY with the soundscape! nice work, SHUM!

  • This song, I think won the Twins a lot of Fans early on. I remember playing it at a little party my Roommates were having, and so many Guests wanted to know who the group was, and could I tape the album for them. Same thing at a record store in a nearby mall I used to often find myself in. Some Guy who worked there would play this track, and I'd here all these Customers asking "Who is this?" (or maybe it was "WHAT is this?) It was liking nothing heard before.

  • Cheers bobbysevensevenseven!! Was "Treasure"

the break through Album in the states for the

    Cocteau's then?

Ive noticed that "Pandora" seemes very popular

    over their,especially on youtube!.

  • I'm not sure, to be honest. I feel comfortable saying that way back then, at least at my backwoods college town, 30 or so miles from the nearest big city, it was the album that first exposed a lot of people who already liked "alternative" music to one degree or another to the Twins. Actually, that college's radio station is how I first heard the song Garlands, over a year earlier, which was my first introduction to the Cocteau Twins. But I think Treasure reached more people in my circle.

  • Thanks mtedora! Its such a top introduction,

to the "Treasure" LP,a sort of opening of the

    flood gates,to this brilliant album.

Hope all s well with ya(hurricane Ike wise)!!

  • Peelie, he's sweet! Or maybe not, who knows. Keep up the good work shum, its like gettin a wee birthday present every day!

  • Cheers mate !!

    Pleased your enjoying em!!
