  • So this is where I got my voice and my love of latin from. O.o go cousin shirley

  • Strepitosa!

  • A qué aria corresponde el segundo agudo?

  • @ubedajils : Blue beard castle. Castillo de Barba Azul

  • @foropera Gracias :)

  • Shirley Verrett is always a class act, sensitive to musical style, text, and never descends into mere histrionics. Her voice is always dignified, regal, and feminine. That's what makes her a Diva, in my opinion!

  • Thanks for listing (hard to believe she was a mezzo) .

  • @Gary2837 Agreed! Most definitely.

  • Excellent ! The high C from Bartok's Bluebeared Castle is phenomenal. But singing is not only high notes, and Shirley Verrett was more than aware of this. She gaves life and meaning to these notes

  • sorry to bother you but could you name all the pieces featured for me please?

  • @bcom11

the first is from ballo in maschera, followed by: bluebeard's castle, anna bolena, tosca, medee, forza del destino.

  • Fabulous!!!

  • Miss Verrett gave a concert at my college in the seventies which I'll never forget. She was every inch the diva.

  • Miss Verrett has been one of greatest genius vocal and artistic of XX the century, a great singer and artist; subtle and modern, without "veristas"s fits as more famous others

  • @fajamaqui I agree.

  • Thank you!

  • Such an "Elegant" voice!

  • Miss Verrett is fabulous

  • Elle est vraiment unique dans son genre! Extraordinaire! Merci à vous foropera

  • Shirley Verrett is unclassifiable, unique, a phenomenon of the nature and intelligence that will not be repeated. Bravo Shirley!

  • Love her, love her, love her; high notes and low. Thanks for posting this!

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm a Shirley Verrett fan & I agree with you. She is much more than a mezzo. Her high notes and soprano register was GLORIOUS. I love her Norma, Tosca, Lady Macbeth & her Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde. Thanks! Loved hearing her beautiful high notes
