A Just Frame. See when she shines? That indicates a JF. It's a specific and timed input that changes properties of the move.

I switch it up sometimes but mostly use pad for Setsuka. I have the same problems online with her JF. Thing is, instead of relying on visual cues for her JFs, embed them into your muscle memory so that it comes out even if there is a visual lag on screen (which is usually the case with online play).

On which combos?  All of this really just requires enough practice, except maybe for a:g:B, which is pretty hard to get consistently (unless you're named Chang's fd).

1. ~ is basically a slide input and : means a Just Frame (precision timed button press). So for 214~3a:B, you would do her 214 motion then quickly do 3a:B.

2. Setsuka is one of the worst you can pick online, IMO. JFs are much harder to time and most of her combos are harder to connect. Though there are some that can pull off her stuff online.

3. I haven't played online in ages, so I wouldn't know. Sorry. :(

Basically, Setsuka is a character good in offline play, so so in online.

For your third question-You don't adjust. You perform the Just Frame with the exact timing online as you do offline. You just have to memorize the timing and go by that, instead of going by what you see on the screen since the visual is late due to lag.

I'm starting to use Setsuka and finding it kinda tough.  Do you have any tips for her Silver Moon combos? The most I can ever do is the second hit once out of like 50 times.

When B+K hits the opponent, you should immediately be pressing 61B and then quickly 44B+K_33A+B finisher. It's..pretty vague since I can't really show you online.. but what you essentially want to do is:

B+K~61B, 44B+K_33A+B.

That's the same advice I read on 8wayrun.... I know this is a lot to ask, but maybe you could do a video showing the controller and exactly how you do it?  I'll keep practicing, and I appreciate the advice. It's just hard to understand, this seems like the most complicated move in the game.

the thing is, first of all, the combo won't work if the first hit doesn't HIT. if you miss or of they guard it, it won't work. Now, assuming it hits, you have to already be going into the 2nd motion as if its all one move. dont try to time it with the hits, just do them all in sequence. the OTHER big problem is, because she changes directions after the 2nd hit ppl think they have to do the same with the input. DONT. even if she switches to the right side, continue the move the same way.

Naw. It was mostly trial and error with this video. I still have trouble pulling off some of the JFs in the heat of battle, like a:g:B.

Normally, it's FC 3a:B.

But if you want to do it from standing, it's 214~3a:B.

It has to be during the wall stun combo. 214B+G won't connect without a high enough wallsplat. Look at CheeseOfTheDay's combo video called Art of War for more details.

After seeing this video I decided to pick up Setsuka. Been playing her for 2 days straight and I hit a wall so I have to ask you a question. The Umbrella endings seem to not work for me. I understand the Just Frame thing, but take combo 4 for example no JF. I can't seem to implement the umbrella at the end. Is it the regular implementation 3aB while crouching or what am I missing?

To make the Umbrella come out faster, you must input it like this: 214~3aB. The 214 motion lets her shift over to her F. Crouching moves like FC 3B:B.

Is it possible to show the damage of some of these combos? I know some really simple ones that does 70+ damage like

CH 4A, bA. (~73dmg)

1B:B, 1B:B, *, bA. (~81 dmg)

are these too low compared to the ones in the video?

CH4A, bA is easily one of her easiest ones. Combos in this movie do around 69~70 damage on average, so I think that most of these should only be used if you want some flash. Otherwise, stick with the easy damaging combos like CH 4A, B+K series, which does 82 damage with the 44B+K finisher.

1B:B, 1B:B isn't guaranteed since the second 1B:B gives a shakeable DOS.

I just got the game today and I honestly don't know how you manage to pull off these combos so fast.  The timing is so much harder to get in SCIV that I almost feel like a total beginner again. Even the Shade Buster isn't as easy to do :(

It's much stricter now because FC 3B:B is a Just Frame. So you'll have to buffer 214~3B:B after 33B and buffer 214~3aB while doing the previous move for it to come out.

Looks like you're having fun with her, though I notice you didn't pull of her Silver Moon combo. That's easily one of the more instantly damaging combos in her game, because once the first slash hits they can't excape the next 2.
