Crappie and Bluegil are in the genus Centrarchidae, so they can crossbreed. Its rare, but its a good possibility that that is what the fish hes holding is, a hybrid. Fish farms have been known to raise hybrids like this, so its possible a few got into the water system and mulplied. Bluegil + Green Sunfish are also farely common hybrids.
its illegal to use goldfish as bait. you can use bluegills or crappies as long as they come from the same body of water from where your fishing (california)
now that looked alot like a crappie because ive been catching bluegills for over 15 years. its a small white crappie
did you hear about the japan guy tied the largemouth bass world record with a live bluegill
I use the BPS aerator and it keeps the bait for a number of days with ease. Also when I use the floating basket in a choppy lake or river I alwys put a softball sized rock in the bottom, it keeps the basket vertical and won't wash up on shore and killing the fish when you're not looking.
@Ballpythondude420 Nah, man. He's wrong. That IS a redear! over 18 years of experience. trust me ;) You dont find crappie in this portion of the river, they cant breed in such swift current.
@DevonGreene999 not a crappie. I catch a ton of crappie both blacks and whites and I know a crappie when I see one. He does have "stoney" markings though, but I have never seen a crapp that has any colored "ear" at all like this Redear does. Plus the mouth isn't large enough to be a crappie, even for that small guy.
Nope its a redear! So not such a good eye after all.
