@urbanterritory LOL you can't just do that.. You can't make a Shelby, Shelby makes Shelby's.. Unless he himself makes it, its never going to be a Shelby. I fucking hate the retards that make fake GLHS's..
@DdgeShelby Its sack-religious.. And all it does is make you look like an ass. Lol I remember when me and my dad drove down to Vegas in our GLHS. There was a Shelby meet up going on for anyone with a GLHS. So we went there and guess what, not a single one of thes "GLHS's" were fucking real. Its pathetic.
I don't think making a clone of a car that the majority doesn't know or could give a shit less about would make anyone look like an ass, more of an enthusiast.. The only difference between a "REAL" Shelby and a clone is a few underhood "Shelby Automobile" emissions decals and a dash plaque that any trophy shop could whip up. If anything a "REAL Shelby" wouldn't be what I want to start with to modify because anything done to it would kill the collectors value
@DdgeShelby Well why don't you use your brain and just mod a GLH? Seriously if your a real car enthusiast it wouldn't feel right to clone something. Your taking pride in something that doesn't deserve it. The fact that Shelby made it means more then any fucking plaque and you should respect that. If you don't have the respect for the car then gtfo.
Your age is clearly showing through, I'm guessing your a whopping 16 years old..
When you get a job and move out of your parents house, live some life and see what it takes to build something yourself, then get back to me about taking pride in something kid.. hahaha I own 2 numbered Shelby cars.. On the exterior, the only difference from anything is a black paint job and some stickers.. Get a life..
@DdgeShelby Thats funny, my dad owns two numbered shelby cars. A GLHS and a CSX. My twin owns a shelby dodge Charger while I own a GLH that I work on constantly. I am 16 but if you think that because of my age I have no respect for these cars your a damn ignorant fool. I have more moral value in these ''junk dodges'' then most adults and I can potential you fucking moron. Lol I'm younger but your not even my level.
I could tell your age due to your maturity level (The way your rollin on these comments)
Calm the fuck down, this isn't even anything serious to get all internet tough guy about.. Your the one coming into my page on a video I posted talking about who's an enthusiast.
What year and number CSX/GLHS's?
I just sold my 89 CSX, I got bored with it and P body cars are heavy.
I transplanted all the remains from a rear ended 87 GLHS #57 into an 84 Dodge Rampage.
This guy can barely get the facts right and contradicts hinself every other second. Either the omni GLHS was a heel aof a ride if you were ever in one
I've owned both a Daytona Shelby Z and a GLHS. They got to be too much to take care of, but were twice as fun as nearly anything else I've had. And I think I paid 5k for both of them from a guy who needed the cash.
There were two Plymouth Barracudas from 1986 (fall 1985 production) made, but Carroll Shelby said no to Chrysler/Plymouth dealers to sell a version of his car under the Plymouth name for, as a Plymouth, it would cheapen the exclusive nature of his partnership with Dodge.
They were essentially 1986-model Dodge Shelby Chargers with all the Shelby trim, but with all references to Shelby removed. And that aspect apparently upset Carroll enough for him to convince Chrysler to stop selling the Plymouth version after these two units.
T1 = suck through turbo setup, same as the Dodge Shelby editions..
The Shelby Automobile modified cars were a T2 "setup" with the blow through intercooled turbo..
Chrysler just dubbed the Shelby Charger in Plymouth gear, the vin number still pointed it out as being a Dodge.. so esentially it was a Dodge Cuda if ou went by the vin.. I saw one of 2 that was white at a Mopar Nationals event..
documented heavily with all sorts of official letterhead ..
That bit about them being titled as Dodges meant further that the front-drive 'Cuda never took off, of course the main reason being Shelby's objection to the Plymouth version.
you guys are a bunch of hp number idiots. horseypower is not what makes this car fast. what makes this car fast, is that it weighs 1,800 pounds. stock, they smoke stock mustang 5.0s, easy.
Your half right, power to weight ratio is what makes a fast car..
horsepower IS what makes a car fast, but if it's light weight, it certainly helps a whole lot..
These cars weighed in the ballpark of 2300lbs.. if you gutted the piss out of it and lexan'd, cut some sheet metal out, fiberglass this and that you "MITE" get it down to right around 2000lbs..
@DdgeShelby right but, i was playing in the world of exaggeration, im sorry i did not know it was 2300. i thought it was less. however, i think i could get one of these down to 1800. we completely stripped out a rally Geo metro, and you could literally lift it on to jack stands.
I've seen a pretty overkill home build where the owner cut tons of metal out of the body, we're talkin cutting the roof off and replacing it with a sheet of carbon fiber, caged, hole saw to anything and everything possible, fiberglass, plexy, the whole 9 yards on some 15x8 wheels that tipped the scales or just 11.5lbs and they got the car down to 1950lbs roughly with hardly any fuel in a 9 gallon fuel cell..
I bought an 87GLHS Chargers new..A lot of jerks snickered from their big block GMs and Fords back then..A few seconds later I was the one laughing and still am
Want one?Dont mess one up,buy a plain one.Leave classic Shelbys alone. Its got all needed as-is.
Shelby MOPAR owners don't have to prove anything. Posers w/plastic wanna-be GMs aka Camaro or Mustangs,go ahead, just spend your time IN the garage stroking your car+talking crap to your no nothing friends
Torque steer wasn't that big of a deal unless you had girly loose wrists.. I pushed well over 250whp in my 87 with no problems other than snapping a few autozone axles on slicks..
"This particular vehicle, 250hp at the wheel"
He never stated they came stock like that.. Hes talking about the car hes driving with the S60 setup.. Not factory..
Watch the video, maybe try turning up the volume.. ;)
i was in the back of one of those while my dad was driving. a grin slowly approached on his face as he said to my brother "watch this" and pointed to the radio and pressed a button. suddenly i was going very fast. that day i got to see my breakfast for the second time.
I know where a very nice 1986 GLH Shelby is being garaged. The owner is a good friend of mine and is considering selling. He's 82 years old (old sports car buff). If anyone is interested, send me a message. Thanks!
I remember watching this epsode back in high school in 02, I was shocked back then and its still awesome even in todays world it would still eat most hondas off the showroom floor.
when i bought my GLHS new in '86 it was the fastest thing you could get for $10,499. Anyone who expected luxury or the finish of a BMW or Porsche was deluded. But the car could blow a 911 or a 'Vette out of the water. I wouldn't waste my clutch on the a-holes in Camaros or Mustangs, since I already knew the answer. It's so much fun to make things get smaller in the rear view mirror. Ugly? sure! Fast and quick? SURE !!!
I had a '87 Shelby Charger GLHS equipped for racing. It was one of the crappiest cars I've ever driven, it was never anything but a problem. Best day of it's life was the day I sold it for scrap.
Don't know who he is, but he should have researched some of the things he spoke of... Like the blown headgasket one, only have to replace the belt not the entire engine. Cheap? An 86 S car is cheap if it's a POS and then its still to much lol
plenty of friends of mine in CA got their 86 S's for 500 or less.. why? blown head gaskets.. cars ranged from a 7-9 out of 10 for condition otherwize..
If your not having head gasket problems, your not boosting much past stock.. ;)
either that or your ARP'd, lower compression and cometic gasket equipped. ;
I just checked it out, you can even look him up through Google. One of his tracks was used in the 2003 Italian Job. I believe he was in the one of the last Olympics for Judo also.
real world driving most the omnis and chargers turned in to rattle traps and started falling apart in a couple yrs. My daytona and lancer have held up. If you just take those cars to autocross and shows ,their ok. That platform just did not hold up well.
