i dont think mortal kombat is THAT bad, seeing as though they spiced up their fighting game with xrays, fatalities, etc. yes it may be unblanced but the majority of video games are unbalanced anyway.

mk vs ki would be interesting to be honest, as they were two rival fighting games at the time. i dont really mind if they make that mash-up i just need a killer instinct game already. im going crazy....just waiting for KI3

Killer instinc always was about that overexageration quotes and funny feel(primary essence of the original RARE developpers) and thats why we loved it. Also for being well designed and balance due to the fact that everyone were broken.

But it never was a serious nor mature game. Proof look at it's back story.

@dragonps I'm not going to agree or disagree with either of you about KI itself, but the whole point about how a game with a 15 rating can be immature. Well let's take a look at Mortal Kombat, Gears of War and God of War shall we?

All three games contain an insane amount of blood and violence. The story is as complex as in any Mario Platformer and they're all rated 18. Are they serious games? Well that's very subjective.

However, they are the perfect games for the younger fans of Call of Duty who think that because they got their parents to buy them an 18 rated game, they're oh so "mature". Let's complete this quick checklist.

Is there blood in the game? Yes, best game ever.

Is there sex in the game? Yes, best game ever.

Is there swearing in the game? Yes, freaking best game ever, everything else sucks for not being exactly this.

@dragonps thats not what i consider mature especially when you have finishing moves like dancing for spinal and some other funny and child features. nonetheless it is a pretty good game.

Mature doesn't mean blood or gore, it's the total oposite(i.e King of fighter is mature/serious)

As for the whole idea of MKvKI, if it is released and enough people do buy it, then it proves that the KI series is commercially viable. Chances are, if you really want to see KI3, you'll have to swallow the shit known as MKvKI.

I'm not saying any of this because I want the MK series to do well either, since I'm not too big on the fighting genre, I don't really care which ones sell.

Rare is an empty shell of their former selves. I believe even the brothers that founded rare has abandoned the name at this point. They've got none of that Rare talent they had before. I would love to see some Rare games make a return to the gaming world.

You Sir are so right, I would pay hand over fist for a new KI game, I only ever played it (and still do) on the SNES. So unique and so different from everything else at the time and today, as you said a mature mans fighting game! Sadly I think we will never get it and thats one of the true great shames of modern gaming.

Hell all they have to do it's test the waters.Take KI 1 put it in their digital chauldron,put HD graphics and all that good stuff and release it as digital download.I'm not even going to go into Street fighter X Tekken........yeah! Microsoft has Rare in there digital sweat shop......

Killer Instinct is close to it's 20th anniversary we need to petition for a third game. I want to see Fulgore,Jago,etc how they'd look 20 years later. I love Street Fighter,Tekken,Mortal Kombat,but K.I. Has a special place in my heart namely the original cool characters,kick ass combos,and great music. I still remember playing the first two games in arcades we need another KI game.

if I remember correctly , the backgrounds were different on the N64, as the arcade used a hard drive to stream FMV data as the background.

Haha I would say the same about Rival Schools and Darkstalkers. Why do companies seem to forget about the main franchises. I have to admit I only played a slight of Killer Instinct because my youth consisted of Shadow Fighter and Street Fighter II. I would like to see a release of KI but as you have plainly answered your own question, companies are shifting fighting games out that aren't great therefore could we expect the same with KI?

I do agree that games like BlazBlue, (New) Mortal Kombat and SFIV aren't the best by no stretch of the imagination but they could be a hell of a lot worse, look at Rise of the Robots for example haha. To be honest the golden days are past us now that we can only revel in what was once a great life for fighting games.
