what explanation does is that it opens a different horizons of connotations, attitudes etc. that may not be obvious at first sight

It is a kind of dialogue in wich the artist ask you something and so you can come to a conclusion. If you came to this conclusion by yourself, this thinking tends to be more valuable therefore lasting to you. Though, if someone gives you all the stuff already made, so it is called entertainment.
