Hey everyone, our recently launched music blog has a post about late-era Talk Talk we’re trying to get out there and hope you might enjoy. Just search SongStacks on Twitter.
This album took 3 or 4 listens to hook you.Bad news for record company but great that they paid for the album of the back of their popular hits and left us with a gem!
TT, my all time favorite!!
Saludos.
i have to agree with "ickleian"...did'nt think this record was as good as colour of spring when it was first released (and i probably still don't) but it can't be easy to follow up an album like that.anyway, it's much better than i originally thought and it has become one of my favorites as well
The benchmark album for years to come, timeless in its minimalistic ambience and vocal work. Bold, naked and an emotionally capturing build with fragments of introspective jazz, thrilling rock guitars and the mesmerizing voice of Hollis.
Still amazes me how the album has not dated in 22 years. Pop musics "A Love Supreme".
The telltale marks of the genre—textured guitars, glacial tempos, an emphasis on dynamics, electronica, ambience and minimalism—were all in place, and paved the way for bands like Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Low, and latter-period Radiohead
"To incessently drive on, dressed in ghost's surrendering gown, heaven bless you in your calm my gentle friend heaven bless you"
Well it doesn't get any better than that? How wonderfull that there is music that you can't put a label on. Nothing and I mean nothing compare's to this. And finally a quote by Mr. Hollis that says it all...
"Before you play two notes learn how to play one note - and don't play one note unless you've got a reason to play it." - Mark Hollis (1998)
I was thinking the same thing when you watched all the old bands performing at Glastonbury this year that it would be wonferful if Talk Talk would get together for next years event, but i think they'd have to do two completely different sets, The rockier stuff up to and including Colour of Spring then a more intimant setting to cover "Spirit of Eden and Laughing stock" but the fans must and an an ideal world the fans would be allowed to smoke "jazz cigarettes " during the show.
Great record yeah...This song too is my favorite by them. When the piano comes in, you stop doing anything else, and just listen, sign of real great music.
got this is a nice song from talk talk . i have got all there music and have liked them since i was 18 i am not 36 and still ove there music nice arrangements and very well produced there music is well polished . perfect . nice dubble bass nice . i do think radiohead has took some of there magic and some of there ideas also for sure
I was already a big Talk Talk fan when this album came out and when I bought it I was very disappointed. However, it grew on me and soon became one of my favourite albums of all time. It still is to this day. Thank you for taking the trouble to post this.
@ickleian This was my first full Talk Talk album i've listened to. Man, I was very disappointed when I heard their previous albums. No, just joking. Great band, but I prefer their last two albums. Enjoy their music!
@ickleian I was the same although I think I got into it quicker than you, just two or three listens and I realised it was awesome. But I was and still am a huge fan of their early synth-oriented stuff too.

@F5unleashed0839
Em, what follows is Am as it seems.
Em - Am - Em - Am - G

Major props have to go to Tim Friese-Greene, co writer, producer, and keyboardist for helping to develop this sound. Absolutely Visionary.

@ickleian Yes, disappointing and as if a new sound. Unfortunatelly, this is not popular enough to alive the band.
