Sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly about the Styles/Rave match, I thought it was a good little contest with some nice flying action and a great table spot at the end and the addition of Mick Foley in Styles' corner and the promo he cut after the match made it even better. I actually think Raven/CM Punk should have been replaced with a better match, it was ok but the cheap finnish gets a star down for me.
Other then that, good review. I definitely agree with the score.
I get whatever dvd I can find. I can care less, Koch, store bought, I dont care. The sites your talking about are elitist pricks that think if its ''mainstream'' bought that their not official. I personally think, that many wrestling fans take themselves WAY too seriously. I just want Wrestling footage, I can care less about where their from, Its wrestling footage
i thought that whitmer v. jacobs was clearly the best match on this dvd. strong and aries v. briscoes was 2nd and aries v. danielson was third. definitely worth ytour money.
Hey TSlay, I'm glad you do these DVD reviews because I want to pick up one of these retail ROH dvd's and its so helpful that you can help me decide which one I want.
Greatest Rivalries is the only ROH koch dvd that I own, and I was also really satisfied with it. I also own the best of chikara dvd, and I cannot wait to pick up that pwg dvd. Great vid.
They could do a sequal you know. Also I see why they'd put Styles/Rave... If a kid who watches TNA sees it, with Joe and Homicide on the cover and they look in the back and see AJ Styles they might pick it up faster than if it was two other guys. Since these are in stores, ROH is smart for trying to get the fans they don't have by having big name stars on this release.
I certainly think that the AJ/Rave match or the Strong/Stevens match could have been replaced by one of the Homicide/Corino matches (maybe War Of The Wire) or replaced both of them and put on Joe/Punk II.
The reason they didn't put Joe/Punk is they already put match three from their series on one of the dvd I guess for time reason and also they probably didn't want to give away one of the hour long matches. Greatest Rivals how come they don't have Colt/Cide or Colt/Jacobs matches on here. I agree Rave/Styles wasn't the greatest. Corino/Cide should have been on here. As for the CZW/ROH feud they should have put cage of death on here. Buy The Best Of PWG dvd it is fuckin great.
I cant beleive how cheap DVDs are in the states, over here regular shows from TNA and the WWE are about £20 which is $40 and compilation DVDs like the best of the ladder match is £30 which is $60.

No offence but you overrate ROH matches like theyre the best wrestling company ever. This is exactly what Jerry Lynn was talking about. I know youre gonna bring up Philly 02 but thats ignoring the fact that he did say that the ROHbots always give each match 4 1/2 stars and if I'm not mistaken, The majority of the matches are 4 1/2 stars.
90% of the guys in that tournament Lynn talked about in ROH has appeared in TNA(Xavier & Bi-hazard make 10%). With the exception of Brian Danielson none are still in ROH. 25% Are still in TNA(it was 40% last year). About 10% are in WWE(Lond-rick)
Have you every heard a TNA chant after chain wrestling? Maybe once or twice. How about after a highspot? Every time one happens.
He's talking much more about TNA than ROH, he was using early ROH as an example.
Yea *appeared* in TNA. They just left like impatient pussies. They need to know that ROH IS AN INDY!!! They've built up an ego saying theyre championship material from a 2 year run in TNA/WWE because they were from ROH coughcmpunkcough, and about Londrick, I've watched Paul London and Brian Kenrdick when they were in Local indies. If you ask me, Paul London didnt do shit in ROH. Neither did Brian Kendrick.
Raven - Punk sucked imo,

Punk Vs Raven: ***3/4
Samoa Joe Vs Homicide: ****
AJ Styles Vs Jimmy Rave: ***
ROH Vs CZW: ***1/2
Aries, Strong Vs Briscoes: ****1/2 (very close to ****3/4)
Jimmy Jacobs Vs BJ Whitmer: ****1/2
Aries vs Danielson: ****
Strong Vs Stevens: ***3/4
Maybe i have to watch Strong Vs Stevens again... cause i thought it was good but thats wat i think.

I think Strong vs Stevens at Final Battle 2007 was way better than ***1/4!!!!

Too many finishers and 2 counts in ROH, those types of matches should be left for main events and special occasions.
