@tulipsxw2 now or when he was actually designing? I like when Yves was at the helm of both ready-to-wear & haute couture. I also love Ungaro, Valentino, Ferre over Karl. I don't like Galiano, he's too over-the-top theatrical.
@AzzedineAliaFan Yes that is what I meant. John Galliano's collections for Dior is spectacular though but I would choose Karl over Galliano. I love Elie Saab too, more so than I love vintage Chanel couture gowns circa 1920s-1940s. I feel he's underrated but I would want to get married in one of his couture gowns!
i'm sorry, i didn't explain well,, i think that the models are not thin, but ... the second idea was that designers like that type of girls, so the dress will be seen and nor the model !
I'm a 0/2 girl but I have the excuse of being short. The designers need to bring back a good 4/6 girl instead of these girls who's outfits probably weigh more than them
some of the peices were beautiful, but tthe collection doesn't "wow" me like prior YSL collections. And i agree the music is awful... it's amazing how it can affect th emood of theclothes at a show.
ok i dont mean to be rude but i think he is a really bad choice of designer for ysl!
ysl cloths are all about simple, elegant and glamour not street wear this is more Balenciaga then ysl just my opinion i know alot about ysl he is the best but this dosen't represent him at all he use valvet and lace musline and satin not lether!!
this desiner has his on style he should design for his name not ysl!! my opinion
Fair opinion, but there is no doubt that he hasnt done justice to "Yves Saint Laurent", just look at the 2008 Collection. Absolutely brilliant. Everything from the colours, shapes and fabric was perfect. He knows what he is doing, truss me
what on earth? he uses reds, beiges, greens, gold, blues, and yes, black white and grey in his fall collections; they are all fall colours. this is the only collection where pilati has used such a restricted colour palette. the spring collections use nearly the entire spectrum. st laurent is, after all, about colour.
My Lord, I Hate how these models look and I hate the way they walk. They are so skinny and their faces look so sickly that the clothes which are pretty, look unattractive to me. I never thought I'd see the day when I say I'm glad I'm not a model. The models look awful. I can't picture myself in them so if I had the money to buy it I wouldn't anyway. Man, the fashion world needs a rebirth or I wont mind when it falls.
That's true those chlotes may be beautiful but the models are too skinny why d'ont the designers get it . Their collections would be soooo great if they put (just an example) Beyonce in it :d
Thanks for responding to my comment but please no more Beyonce, I am sooooo sick of her. They just need to bring back the great model who can rock a curvy size 4-8.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE YSL! I would definitely invest in those timeless pieces, and wear it for the rest of your life. The tailoring is just fabulous. The leather's back!
I love how everyone who was interviewed--especially the designer--spoke intelligently. Also, who could resist the darkness of those pieces. A couple of those pieces were stunning, really!
Stefano spoke most intelligently of all those interviewed. The depth of his intelligence is hardly underscored by his commentary here; the depth of his intelligence even greater than he lets on here. I've read things he's said, and the depth of his intelligence combined with his reverence for women is astounding. Stefano is in a league of few others. He is the antithesis to the frivolity and stupidity so abound in fashion today. He's also very handsome.
I couldn't understand how his rebellious streak is "gentle" and "fragile".
It's kinda funny, since he and Riccardo Tisci (both Italian) both gave great, thoughtful interviews, but with awfully awkward wording in it. There's thought there, but I don't think he (or Riccardo) conveyed that thought very clearly.
for some reason ive become obsessed with this brand

I don't think Pilati's got what it takes to follow an act like Saint Laurent, there's always something weak and bitty about what he does.

hm...
well there's a problem in Pilati's work all these years, he doesn't use other colours except black - grey - white, and sometimes green or brown.
Wtf is wrong with him????
Winter is not 'dark'!!!

the brilliance of stefano is seen through his work on THAT leather jacket...nicely tailored and all the clothes were YSL patents...

Reminds me of Sean Young in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner.
