I am so impressed his Uchinaguchi:) Although I was born and grew up in Okinawa, I do not know how to speak polite Uchinaguchi. I should have learned the wonderful language over there.
Guys,I have to confess Okinawan sound sweeter to my ears than Japanese. I also found the few words I´ve seen written of Ainu really melodious, their names, etc. But I also find Korean language much softer and sweeter than Japanese - it´s a matter of taste, of course, I know people have ther right to think otherwise.
@Gwynsek I agree with the Korean thing. I mean, it just feels better in my mouth than Japanese does, maybe because it naturally allows for more sounds? I dunno.
@aishashia Maybe ! But I believe it´s just because we do like Korean better than Nihhongo.( smile ). But if a person speaks Japanese softly, not too assertive or heavily, I´ve noticed it can even sound sweet and cute to my ears ! Actually, even the softest of language can go down as harsh on our ears if spoken heavily, on the other hand.We can see this in soft romantic songs as opposed to hard rock or punk, etc.
Here in Brazil,we have many Asian and Native American descendants mixed with Caucasians and they look gorgeous !
I got what you meant, no racism implied.
It´s just a pattern of beauty. The two trunks are closer than it´s often thought and when they mix, it´s easier to recognize this. I don´t like round-shaped eyes myself.I´m half (or multi) -breed and wish mine were even narrower than they are already ! Of course, fair - narrow eyes are the best -looking for me.
Yeah I found that kind of weird, but I think they just did it so that English speakers could learn Okinawan without learning Japanese, but there are some parts that are in Japanese still.
Wow, he's really traditional! We have the same last name 「比嘉」, but he pronounces it as the old way 「ふぃじゃ」 instead of 「ひが」 like most people in Japan/Hawai'i/S.America do these days.
ちなみに八丈島の言葉もヤマトの言葉と離れてるらしい。さらに言えば明治の開国まで隣県で言葉は通じなかった。
