MIDI compatibility was one of the main features we thought would improve the Kaossilator, so the arrival of MIDI ports on the Pro got us seriously excited. Unfortunately, it doesn't support standard note data. The X-Y coordinates are instead sent and received as CC values, meaning that if you want to play the internal synth instruments using a MIDI controller or DAW you'll need to find a way of converting notes to CC.
Hi My Name is Frank . I want to buy one but can u add music from your computer and mix it and save it in your computer? since you have 1 do you have it with hook up with your computer?
@NuclearLullaby Nothing wrong with it at all! I love the screen on my KP1, I just got a new keyboard and was wondering if I could use them together. I'm broke anyways so I guess it doesn't matter... oh well :)
It seems that it will cost a little bit less than Electribe but sounds a lot more cheaper. As a controller - great device but still very expensive. As a music instrument / dj gear - it won't work for me.
i dont like it. the first kaossilator was so simple, practically pocket sized, and was all you ever needed. but i suppose this one will be better for more serious electronic musicians
QUESTION: Can you also unlimitedly overdub signals coming from a line source or a microphone on a particular bank? Cause all they overdub are the kaossilator sounds... Thanks in advance for answering.
@pheecoy Yes, each memory bank ca be unlimitedly overdubbed, using ANY source of audio. Though considering ou now have four banks to dub onto, unlimited use on any one of them would be a streats unless you have maybe two or three units, using one of them to hold four full beats and using the others to hold separate sections for a full live setup. but yes, from voice overs to using a keyboard synth or a guitar you can keep overdubbing all you want. DISCLAMER: more overdubs does not mean better.
Thanks for the quick repsonse SwordMasamune... So this is quite a step up from the KP3 in terms of looping then. Four banks on the KP3 has always been lacking... now it's just a matter of choosing whether i'll get the KaossPro or another KP3 to pair wtih my KP3.
Well If I had a KP3, I'd go with a kaossilator pro to go with it, and make sure to run the K-Pro, through the KP3 so that you can use the effects of the KP3 on the output of the K-Pro. (also just because I wouldnt want to have too much repeated gear on my setup. (mind you right now I think when I get the money my setup will be 2 DS's with Korg DS-10 a KP3, and a K-pro, and a normal kaossilator as well as a mini kp. (since I'll start with the lower priced stuff first)
yes but to have 4 loops independent of eachother it makes it way better to use in a live real time situation... i think its a great improvement..but yeah the guys music sucks but hes just a salesman...
i agree this is very bad i`ve seen several video`s with this guy on the kaossilator pro and he keeps on using the same lame drumloop and mutch the of the same sounds (helllooo there are 200 in there !!!) and he uses (has??) no creativity at all
At that price, this is not a true successor to the wonderful KO1.
My KO1 cost me £100.00 which almost puts it in the 'impulse buy' bracket. And yes, I understand that all those extra features come at a cost and can't possibly fit in the KO1 chassis.
Here's hoping they haven't ditched working on a truly portable standalone synth like the KO1, but better.
I'd have one, but what a pity it's lost the abilty to go anywhere with you- on the plane, the train or out for a walk. That's one of the things I loved about the KO-1, just plug in headphones and batteries and you've got a synth that you can literally play anywhere.
Bet you're looking at twice the cost or more of the KO-1 too, which is also a shame.
There's MIDI I/O in the back. Probably didn't have time to set it up, or didn't want to focus on that for the introduction/announcement. Maybe in later demos in other shows.
this feels like a real slap to the face! i love the original ko-1 but this peice of crap is more like a KP3 - which sucks s**t, and i would know, as i used to own one.... seems to me korg got lazy.
when people asked you for midi, they weren't asking for CC, they were asking you for midi-notes! recording midi notes, hooked up to a computer or to be able to save the data...
not a repackaged kp3!!!
i am horribly dis-appointed and WONT be buying this peice of junk! you just lost a customer KORG!
Dont seem to say anything about this still being battery-driven - others picked up on anything?
Also no word if there's any changes to the actual sound-engine in terms of new sounds or similar...?
Still it's a highly interesting piece of kit. The multiple layers and storage feature really was what the old unit was missing. It's complete production in a box now.
Cant wait to try this out and see how it is in terms of userfriendliness and pure production-value...
I don't get it, why they didn't integrate a melodic step sequencer like the one novations launchpad has now after the Max-for-Live update.
Actually the Kaossilator Pro has all the requirements for it (steps in the display -> horizontal AND vertical)!! And then combined with midi it would be a mind-blowing tool.
Would like to have a melodic step sequencer in the hardware, which is as well usable for midi-triggering.
i agree , and i feel insulted that this is supposed to be the "pro" model, what a joke. the KO-1 is a way better music tool. and the kp3 was a sheer disappointment much like this crunk!
@groovindj the only way the original is better is that it's more portable and runs on batteries. In all other ways, the KO is TRUELY PRO, just great! see my video
@groovindj i bought the original when it first came out and trust me...this WILL be heaps better...wtf can you do without midi sync? anyway this looks much better imo

@yoshisuniverse The KP3 is more of a sampler and effects processor, while the Kopro is a Dynamic Phrase Syntesizer and a Loop recorder.

@soulsonicfarce WRONG! The right price is $395
Gradius0 2 years ago
Fair enough, I stand corrected. I guess it's more expensive in the UK at the moment because of import duty or whatever.
I just googled it quickly and £355.00 was the UK price that came up, then I did conversion to US$.

I see, that sucks. Here on Brazil those "toys" are dirty expensive too.
