  • Upgrade your firmware asshole, that shit only supports wep

  • on a westell 327 all the lights come on when it first starts u asshole, I have three of them

  • I have a Westell 327 wireless router but have lost the antenna to it.............. Does anyone know how i can get an antenna or make one????

  • @wanabtkd Sorry for the late reply but havn't had alot of time lately... I believe they are a 1/4 inch "SMA" connector, or 1/4" BNC. Either way it's the standard for modem/router antenni. I had an antenna from Office Max that had a magnet mount and a 3' wire so you could put the antenna 3' away from the router which was nice for getting a strong signal out the door to the rest of the house when I didn't want to relocate the router. Ordering one online would be cheapest

  • westell routers suck. they make my xbox lag and arnt designed for anything more than email. horrible interface too

  • @shinyfuzzy I agree, they are bottom of the barrel. But they're also free if your on Verizon. It's hard to argue with free. I finally got another freebee from them which is another Westell. Tempermental bitches of a modem they are too. Half decent speed when it doesnt have connection failure or flake out with the wireless connectivity though.

  • @Bitrunner1 they arnt free with centurytel (terrible provider, keeps switching servers!!!) and my parents seem to thing "rental" will be cheaper than just going and buying a better fricken router for 20 bucks at radio shack.

  • nice job

  • wear did u get the 1200uf from i found 1000uf

  • Found them in PSU's from junk PC's, but you might find them in any old electronics. Just make sure when scavanging capacitors, leave as much wire on them as possible. And when you take out the bad one, leave as much wire as you can on the mainboard. Then you can twist the wires on your new capacitor to the wire you left on your mainboard, & get around soldering in a touchy spot. I'd say daisychain 2 or 3 1000uf''s & see what happens. Stick to the same Voltage though.

    Good Luck

  • You are extremely lucky that you didn't blow that one capacitor up, it was most likely plugged in the wrong way. Its a wonder that you got the polarity right when you hooked up two of them in series... If you notice the white stripe on the side of those means that pole is the negative terminal... It should work fine since you got it right, but be careful cause those caps will go bad cause you are stressing them out like that... Just remember what sides the white stripes are on and get a 6800UF.

  • Thanks for the info about the polarity, good to know, and maybe that will save someone else from having to rely on dumb luck, like I did. I guess it was even more amazing than I thought that this worked at all... I was totally waiting for something to melt or start smoking when it first started running again, but it kept going until I got a new modem a few weeks later. Thanks again for sharing some knowledge

  • Oh yeah, one more thing, this is not a hack just a fix.

  • You got me on the hack/fix thing, I overuse the crap out of that word. But I must say, this fix was quick and dirty, using parts in ways not intended by the manufacturer... no extra functionality of the device, but definitely a bit hackish.
