  • I find it easier to take a bucket and drill a lot of small holes in the bottom. Then place it in a bit larger bucket and fill it with water... then you simply lift and let go of the bucket with holes, and the hydroton will get rinsed. It's a bit more work to begin with, but if you use lots of hydroton, it'll become really handy.

  • Rapid Rooters

  • Hi, Can you tell me what brand of "sponge" in which you put the seed in you are using in THIS video.

  • I rinse 100ltrs at a time in a cheapo commercial washing machine I bought at a thrift store. After the spin cycle I shop vac them out into a Brute trash can- works great. Mesh laundry bags work nicely for smaller quantities- a dollar store has them. Doubling them up is a good idea- you can buy sturdier mesh bags with zippers at Walmart or Target. They are sold for washing ladies bras.

I mix 1 tbsp of household H. peroxide per gal. of water or 1tsp of Hourt. grade to insure a sterile media.

  • Is it possible to transplant plants later to soil?

  • yes so long as the plant is under 12" tall it is usually fine. If the plant is too big and you try to transplant, the roots won't be able to get enough moisture from the soil, as they are smaller.
