LOL! 2009 (that's a little over 2 years ago) and these two clowns have selected both Ishant Sharma and Mitchell Johnson (and raved to no end about them)! I wonder if they're looking at this video now and crying!
Best today: Veriendar Sehwag Kumar Sangakarra (wk) Ricky Pointing Sachin Tendulkar Mohammad Yousuf Jack Kallis Shahid Afridi Brett Lee Zaheer Khan Muttiah Muralitharan Mohammad Asif
Guys, this is the best team EVER: 1.) SACHIN TENDULKAR 2.) JAVID MIANDAD 3.) BRIAN LARA 4.) DON BRADMAN 5.) VIV RICHARDS 6.) GARY SOBERS 7.) ADAM GILCHRIST 8.) WASIM AKRAM 9.) DENNIS LILLIE 10.) SHANE WARNE 11.) WAQUR YOUNIS 12TH MAN IAN BOTHAM
1. sehwag 2. dilshan 3. sarwan 4. jaywardane 5. chanderpaul 6. clarke 7. dhoni (wk) 8. vettori 9.johnson 10.steyn 11. anderson this is my test Xi i have chosen these players cause i feel the line up pretty much all can bat to some point and you have the 3 simply amazing seamers with vettori to bowl spin with the help of clarke dilshan and sehwag
my test dream team 1.Graeme Smth (c) 2.Chris Gayle 3.Ricky Ponting 4.Sachin Tendulka 5.Jaques Kallis 6.Shiv Chanderpaul 7. Ms Dhoni (wk) 8.Mitchell Johnson 9. Dan Vettori 10.Dale Steyn 11.Ishant Sharma
1. G. Smith (C) 2. V. Sehwag 3. H. Amla 4. S. Tendulkar 5. J. Kallis 6. S. Chanderpaul 7. B, Mccullum (WK) 8. M. Johnson (OB 1) 9. H. Singh 10. D. Steyn (OB 2) 11. I. Sharma (1st Change)
The game changer in my batting lineup would probably be mitchell johnson. I know it's early days in his career but his power and eye for the ball is out of this world.
I think it's really interesting these fine tweaks to get the greatest side in the world.
Next week we'll pick twenty20 and ODI XIs.
I sent you a message to your youtube inbox as well.
2) Totally agree. Its very difficult but here only lies the key to forge a great team. Batting positions is of great importance. For example, you don't need a batsman(Sanga) of 50+ average batting at position 7. You need someone who can change the direction of game in an hour or so (like gilly or dhoni). You need somebody who can motivate tail enders. And also who can be very difficult to dislodge if situation demands (saving test match).
both are very similar player. Really tough choice to make. Both are great players but I would still stick with Chanderpaul. Reasons: 1) He is the most consistent batsman for past couple of years.
2) Hussey is yet to mark his authority outside Australia (avg 44+).
3) Chanderpaul plays for very weak WI team so he plays under far greater pressure than Hussey which gives him a little edge.
1. would you not just pick someone like Michael Hussey ahead of Younis Khan? He's left handed and bats down the order. It might bring more balance to the side.
2. If you make this change then Sangakarra could be pushed a couple of spots up the batting order. But it is really hard to sort a batting line-up with that many great players.
3. Zaheer Khan is an exceptional player but we're quite happy to go for the most aggressive bowling line-up with Kallis' variation.
3rd thing: if given choice I would go for zaheer khan instead of Ishant. very difficult decision. reasons: 1) he has more experience than others in the list 2) he is in great bowling form 3) exceptional against left handers 4) swings ball both way(mitchell can't swing it in on consistent basis) 5) reverse swing 6) not express like johnson or steyn but definitely skids the ball thus adds variety to the attack.
Similarly Sangarkara. He is more of top order batsman than a keeper. On the basis of 2008 performance, I guess he is scoring over Ricky Ponting. So I would either put him there in ricky's place and pick one more all rounder like flintoff (this increases my chances of getting 20 wickets) or replace him with someone like dhoni who I believe has the best cricketing acumen among the present players.
1st Younis Khan. though he is in great form, he doesn't serve any purpose batting late in the innings. you need someone specialist or someone who can adjust to any batting position. also he is playing on extremely batters friendly wickets of Pakistan. I would therefore go for Chanderpaul.

3) Aggressive bowling strategy looks just fine.

guys I have 2-3 points to make here.
