  • Appall = Greatly dismay or horrify

  • I'm appalled because I didn't play this til I was 18 and a freshman in college. And even then, I still couldn't play it this well at this tempo. I applaud you good sir.

  • first thing is first! great job... your sound for a 14 year old is great, and you show much potential in the near furture. i agree with the last comment. i am playing this piece right now for the all-state auditions and recitals in california and its extremely hard. 4 sharps. styles, technique, even note length. this piece is extremely difficult. and you have done well. but also most commenters dont remember the pressure of a camera or a recorder. but your going to be a monster player! good job!

  • Practicing with a metronome is really good BUT what most commenters don't understand is the difficulty of this piece. It does sound fairly easy but if you have ever played it you would understand keeping exactly perfect time is the least of your worries when you are trying to get this piece down.

Great Job anyhow, there are some mess ups but I'm sure you have hit everything perfect at least a couple times while playing through this, it's just one of those things. Keep it up :)

  • muy bien tocado, espero Q en el concierto me salga ami como a ti , enhorabuena

  • the only things i would worry about

with this is to acquire a better hand position.

don't lift your fingers too high off the keys.

and i would also suggest working with

a metronome every time you practice

it will help a ton. =]

  • I am writing a paper on this movement. Does anyone know the form?

  • I'm 14 and have played this piece at the Junior RNCM so know that there are some quite tricky parts. Although it was played competently, so much more could have been done with dynamics, articulation and vibrato especially just to make it relate more to the title of the movement, dance of the young girls

  • I would like to see you performing this piece. Your comment history shows a lot of educated criticisms for a 14 year old... which leaves me mildly skeptical at the moment.

  • maybe you palyed it, but I am going to guess you played it quite poorly...maybe you have the technique...BUT technique is the least important part of music. Without musicality, music is no longer music.

  • nice comment i completely agree with you. yes this was a good performance but some minor things could have been altered and would have made it so much better.

  • overall very nice job, like others said a metronome would have helped. I think you have all of the notes there, only place to really improve is the dynamics, choose destinations or "peak" notes and move the melody towards them. Also as ENsaxist stated, adding a bouncy feel will make the piece much more melodic and even more fun to play!

Like I said very good overall, just some fine tuning will make it that much better!

  • romaneeconti02.

that comment about technique is completely wrong... in this piece of music you need technique to even look at it. This isn't an easy piece so if you dont have technique first you wont even be able to learn it.... you obviously have little experience with challenging music.

  • It is extremely important to practice this movement with a metronome. There were some parts that could have benefited from some extra practice, but overall nice job.

  • you must practice with metronome.

  • very, very, good overall, especially for being only sixteen, but i think your tone is better than the video lets on, and use more vibrato!

  • A couple comments I might say are to add more vibrato into the longer notes - it will really make it glow. Also, maybe make the piece more "bouncy" if you know what I mean. Lifting the end of the notes at the end of the phrases really adds a lot to the piece.

  • Very delicate and precise: well done!

  • nice job. are those shoulder straps? that must be more comfortable... my neck hurts after a while

  • Hey there.

I'm working on this piece right now as well. Overall a good job, especially for your age :)

Your tone is very nice! If you practise double tounge you might be able to play some pieces a bit faster. The 5th movment is a little high for you level though, I think.

    But good job! Keep playing.

  • waaaa, c'est ma "maman" avec sa signature d'enfeeeerr !!! xD ouais Yann tu joues trop bien du saxo ! (charlotte du solfège)

  • Lovely.
