why is everyone complaining that it isn't enough like the books? It is "based" on the series not a complete cut and paste re-creation of them. It sucks when things get totally changed but most of the changes were made with reason. For example why they ride western too, not just english. It just makes more sense because it IS a ranch for one and a lot of the time trail riding is easier with western tack. If the horse spooks, you have a horn and often a breast collar to help you.

Yea h but if everything was the same then it would all be so predictable. Besides, I think by the end of season 1 Ty redeems himself in a way and some of the characteristics he had in the books are made more evident. Like how he has knowledge for horses except in the show he has a natural knack for it. =) I can't wait to watch season 2 this weekend

I completly agree that the books are better. This TV show is OK, but focuses more on the drama and personal lives than the actual horses. I have only seen them working with a horse once so far.

Also Lou grew up in England, and why does it seem that there are no other horses on the ranch. And what about Pegasus?

If Heartland would have been made into a film only, it likely would have been the same as the books but since this is a TV series, changes had to me made to make the show an on-going one with surprise storylines and new characters. These changes have all been made to ensure that the show remains competitive in today's cutthroat network television world where shows get cancelled with the snap of an exec's fingers.
