i wholly agree with every bit of 1pascal83; the fellow playing is italian. as we say, he sounds "freddo", and with too much pedale. yet, his technique is not this bad - I mean, he has "musicalità", even though he sometimes indeed strikes wrong chords. I mean again: play it better, if you can, and then post it!!

HEY, don't you know that the best Jazz improvisors learn their craft by immitating the improvisations of other great musicians?

This is one of the pieces that strongly made me want to do improvisation on piano, that was over 25 years ago. I'm still working hard at it after thousands of dollars of lessons and the same amount of hours of practice time. You're doing a very complex and subtle piece. And, it has more than enough feeling to be moving for me. Please keep up the great work. :)

NIce place. Upright pianos never cut the mix...unless you're Tom Waits. Try outputting some piano through a great keyboard directly to computer, or to your camera, if you can get the levels right. ... Then you'll get much better sound. And pick up the Harold Arland sheet music book.(the big one) ..it will change you forever.

OK, nice try; this hurts my ears dude. It's one thing to reiterate and interpretate the likes of the great composers, but this is just not the way forward. I'd rather hear your own improvs not an attempt at someone elses (what's the point of that?) You might get a kick out of it, but calling your video of the great improvisor to then be fronted with your attempt is a damn cheek - get that piano tuned and buy a microphone to record your stuff too.

I think you play nice, but you can't be a very bright guy when you play that fantastic peace of work... there's no sence to ruin that one. When Keith Jarrett played that in Köln, it was that special moment. You can never capture it again, you're just spoiling it. How about you going back to the standards. No affence, I just don't like that. Not one bit.

You say your Kawai is somewhat out of tune; not a problem with this piece, because in the Carr biography KJ had to work with an off tune old piano for this legendary concert. You indeed capture the haunting spirit of the performance, great job sir!

Brilliant playing man...It is a valiant effort to transpose any Keith Jarrett piece.

You should try something off of Bremen and Lausanne as well, to me they are even more exquisite performances than the Koln concert.

Extremely well done mate - I am amazed - thought nobody would ever be able to come so close to Keith's original! But like the others say - get the piano tuned - then record it again please! I will never be able to play it (this way). Bought the Koln Concert notes recently to play bits and pieces - but to play it is as per this official book, is virtually impossible - you seem to have found a way - keeping the right hand as close as possible to the original, and somewhat simplified the left.
