  • i have the same light when panning it the motor stops and will shake with all controls any ideas on how to fix it or what i should do

  • Can I add my own customized gobo slides or I can only use the gobo that comes with the unit?

  • I'm probably going to invest into four of the RGBW style ones that are on the market..... great light!

  • Hi.

If you have 2 of those moving heads. Can you have them do the same thing without using DMX controller or anything. Just by connecting them both by dmx cable? Sorry im new to all of the 'DMX area' Thanx

  • @TheRailworksMaster if no one gets back to you ....yes you can 1 head set as master 2 head set as slave and so on....hope this helps

  • Love your video... I just got my Promo video for the Mini Spot on my site.

  • We put 6 of these in a local tit bar to replace their old wore out Martin Mini Mac's... 1st off these looked awesome being LED the colors ore vibrant! Digital addressing instead of DIP switches so set up was super easy!....Awesome lights....this is where the lighting business is going!

  • fOR ANY NIGHT CLUB:

Just use your DMX board to program a few standard scenes where detail is needed...but during th emain part of your night...Just run the lights in audio mode...You wont need a light guy and the light show will look awesome!

  • I think 2 of these on a t bar with a color strip on top would be pretty good for a small light show

  • Hello

I am from the UK and have purchased two of these lights.

I am just wondering how do I program them to a white wash with no gobo, will I have to link it directly to the lighting desk and program it ?

  • are these lights the same as the chuavet min spots??? please answer quickly im looking to buy them if they are! thankz!!

    cgi.ebay.com/2X-Qspot-15W-LED-Mini-Moving-Head-Club-DJ-Stage-Lights-

  • are these lights the same as the one in the vid??? please answer quickly im looking to buy them if they are! thankz!!

  • hey i am looking at adding onto a lighting system i have in a youth center and am wondering how 4 of these and 4 min washes would do alongside 8 par 64's and 5 par 56's?

  • great video, worth watching

  • ok im a dj out of dallas tx..and i am lookin at some of these...the one question i have is how far will it project till its blurry and non adjustable to make it clear

  • btw, the Showtec has a "spot" and a "wash" do u know if the brightness and the watt is difrent on those?

  • Hay brian, is this Chauvet the same as the Showtec miniled?

im thinking of buying a fiew

  • hi man. i just bought a pair of these. the red does not work on one of them and im looking for a replacement led rgb diode. was it hard to open the unit up? any pointers to prevent me from ruining it when i open it up to check the diode?

  • brian, can i put my own costume Gobo?

  • hello

in the mini movinghead is a jack hole can you be a Showtec ScanMaster to close (if not what can we then to close)

  • Can you insert a different lens with a wider beam? cause 13 degrees isn't that much :(

  • @Erwinismyname it is what it is

  • These moving heads are dark! VERY NICE strobing effect though but wont cut through a crowd! This guy did a show down here and had 4 of them..honestly he looked silly doing a school dance of 300 kids in a large gym. his scanners were brighter than his moving heads. Great for house party (they would do amazing) but not for a normal gig! Maybe f they came out with a halogen/discharge type mini head i think it might be ideal! :)

  • hi all ! can anyone help?I have bought one of these second hand but no manuel and Im a newb at this whole thing and cant get it to run 13 chan dmx HELP!!!

  • @phantom923 download it from the chauvet website

  • hey, would two of these be bright enough for a gig of 200 people or more?

  • @DJKKRAFT no they would not

  • dj world store have start selling a 50w led mini head unit its bit bigger unit that puts a true 250w discharge power it will cut threw great keep a look out for the c.d.s pro! and NEON-TEC moving heads and the mk-2 of this unit is the cds. pro! robo its 15w comes in a white housing and not 14w newer gobos so yes great mini heads great value great demo brain

  • How do you configure it to be sound active?

  • Thanks pal,

I was just looking for a simple video that showed them in action, but a full review.... wow!

  • What was the name of the song in this video

  • How bright are they compared to other lights?

  • not bright enough i think:(

  • so it's sound active for us mobile dj's!

  • briansredd,

I'm from Brasil, I'm 13 years old,and I want buy this little moving head (if possible). What I doing? Please, help me...

  • can you do a brightness and other things vidio between the adj x-move led and min spot please

  • does the mounting bracket come with it?

  • okay how can u afford so many lights if they cos a fortinue??

  • now what is the name of that song

  • tim deluxe - just won't do ;)

  • And since you like that one, you'd prob also like lee cabrera - shake it (move a little closer).

  • Thanks for the review Brian! I'm selling my MinSpot on eBay if anyone is interested. Not much time left though. It's really a great light!

    -jthtiger

  • does it come with the hanging bracket?

  • Comment removed

  • very good video!!! What do you think of two of this moving heads in a little teathre? more heads or it's a right number?

  • Brian, I would like to use the Minspot without gobo or strobe effects, and maybe more in the orange, turqoise and pink colour, haven't seen much of these colours, is that a limitation of RGB or can a DMX controller do this?

    Thanks,

  • Comment removed

  • You can mix red, green and blue as you want with a dmx board.

I have one from showtec but the same thing and a mix the colour as in a led par can.

  • is this bright enought!!!!!!!!!

  • Great review, Thanks!!

  • I'm looking into lighting and everything, do you have any easy to use light system suggestions?

  • Hey i am from germany so my english isn´t the best sry.

Would the min spot be bright enough when it would hang next to some LED pars ?

  • This light is best for smaller venues. It may get washed out by bright pars

  • Is the Sound to Light mode good?

  • can u make it audio active???

  • Yes it runs Sound Active :)

  • on ur opinion wats better vueIII or the mini spot?

  • @briansredd How do u make it on sound activated mode?

  • wats the name of the track your playing at the end

  • The D in LED stands for Diode; you don't need to say that its an LED diode.

  • Do you believe that 2 250 watt scanners would over power this?

  • yeah I'm pretty sure

  • @briansredd I was gonna buy this but then I bought a Dj Spot 250!

  • @HopScotchN64 rule of thumb with modern LED technology add a 0 on to the end and thats roughly what its equivalent to. For example 14 watt diode is roughly the same as a 140watt discharge lamp 25watt diode is roughly the same as a 250watt discharge etc

  • @bacos21: Halogen you mean, not discharge. No way on this earth a 14 watt LED is as bright as a 140 Watt Discharge.... 140 Watt halogen, yes, discharge, not even close.

  • Hi Brian, i was wondering have it Gobo Rotation ?

  • Now the gobo's themselves don't rotate. It has the gobo wheel spin effect but no gobo rotation.

  • Hi Brian, i'm looking at purchasing a few of these but if i do they'll be used in a cover band with 150w halogen scanners. How will the brighntess compare? will i need to go the Xmove? i just really love the no color wheel makes slow transitions beautiful!

  • hi my name is chris you done a good video and if you want my skype adress its djchristopherj12

  • the question is, IS IT BRIGHTER than a 250W Halogen moving head????

  • Nah, it's a great little moving head for small environments though :)

  • Just saw a demo of these min spots and min washes. I'm interested in buying 4. I already have 12 par 38's on a 12 foot truss. What type of controller would i use to operate both the DMX lights and these par cans? I'd perfer one that has a joystick to be able to move the heads and rotate them manually. Plus do chases with the par cans.

  • You could look into the Elation Operator 192. I have demos up on this unit if you search for some of my DMX tutorials (I've switched to computer based DMX in the later tutes)

  • the only thing im deciding on is the candle length between the two products im thinking on purchasing in the future because yes the min spot does have good...well perry much everything but the intimidator 2.0 hti's have 800+ more candle length but their a greed on power i need long throw for the spot and at the same time it still looking like a spot instead of a wash

  • get the intimidator 2.0 but get rid of the cheap HTI's that chauvet provide and replace them with Osram HTI 150, they will provide a longer throw, and will be brighter. i use these lamps and my whole Martin roboscan 812 uses only 190watt, not that much, but they get over thrown by my martin Roboscan Pro 218 with the MSD200(i have hte MSD250/2's in them) and they only use 290 watts yet nearly 20,000 lumens of power and a colour temp of 8500K

  • cuanto valen

  • Good video, I'm thinking of buying a couple of these lights. Either the Chauvet ones or the Showtec ones.

How would you say the output compares to say an I-Solution 200watt ELC bulb moving head ?

A few years ago I bought a couple of LED twisters and was very disappointed with them, and could only really use them at home so brightness is a worry factor for me.

    MAny thanks

  • well ELC's are quite dull(ok i use discharge probally why i think this) they have a low colour temprature of 3000K where as (im gussing) LED's have a colour temprature of around 4200K this will make them seem brighter, but not nessarly so, because Chauvet are cheap lighting effects, the optical system will be rubbish meaning you wont get as much power out of LED's or lamps, ELC's would be brighter, but buy discharge they do notuse loads of power a 150 HTI is around a 400watt halogen!

  • They are nice little moving heads!. I especially like the rgb colour mixing and the rapid strobe rate due to the use of leds. This could be the beginning of the end for filament and discharge lamps in this type of fixture. Excellent video.

  • Hi brian

i got a little question can you put the ADJ X-move if you can still get one and this chauvet unit and compare in a video side by side and bring them both to their best and say wich one you like better in functionallity and programmabillity with a pc because im stil looking for the perfect new fixture and its gonna be an X-Scan a X-move or chauvet(it looks promesing but the X-move has a 20 watt LED and the chauvet just 14 so if your gonna make a video thanks if not then so be it.

  • Im looking at some lighting, but dont know which. I also need something under $400, which this is perfect.

But i do have a question, lighting ranges in prices from only a hundred to a couple thousand. Why? Whats the diff. from this $400 light compared to one thats $800-$1000?

Im looking for something cheap, since I also need 4+ lights. Im a magician, and I need it for my shows. If you have seen David Copperfield, I want to use lighting like his. Is this perfect for what I need?

  • Also, only want to use like 2, maybe 3 gobos.

The solid open one, the spiral circle one, and the one with many circles. Those are pretty much all I like with this one. Can you also exchange some for other ones? or do u need to buy new ones?

One more thing. I want to use the light, but it must be programmed to perform how I want it, in the direction, which gobo, colour, etc. Can I program it to do the exact same action every show? Do I need those switch boards @ the back theater, how much?

  • Whats this multi-dye tri-color? Can't I program it to have only solid colours instead of mixed ones? I dont get that.

Like stated before, I want it programmed, I can program it to the solid colours only, and change instantly into another colour programmed at the specific time.

  • if you want a rig with nice and MOST IMPORTANTLY reliable lights then get your budget higher because you need at least 1000dollars to buy some fine dmx lights like scans and maybe heads.( with that budget you cant buy more then 2 scans or 1 head) in my oppinion the best thing for you is to find a few nice lights maybe 2 dmx controlled megabars for the strobe and colour effects and wait til you can get a few descend scanners the ratio i use is 1 movinghead is 2 sometimes even better scans.

  • Thanks for the great information on the MinSpot. I'm researching the Chauvet systems and this was very helpful.

    Thanks again from Chicago Area!

  • Hi, does the clamp come with the light? thanks

  • No, but the bracket to attatch the clamp does

  • Brian- Does the hanging clamp mounting bracket come with the light or did you have to buy that somewhere else?

  • It's included with the MiN Spot :)

  • I'm pretty sure it has seperate red, blue & green led's inside..

  • Nope, according to Chauvetlighting, The LED is a multi-dye tri-color

  • Must be a new thing then, sorry. :-)

  • I think it would be great to see a side by side demo of minispot and the x-move!

    Thanks, for the vid bri!

    Chris

  • I also asked for this in brians video effect forum.

  • Hey Brian, Thanks for the great video. great tip on the screws, we store ours the same way. The LED is a multi-dye tri-color.

  • Thank YOU, Robert :) Great info!

  • very good

  • Now which one is better ADJ x-move or this one can you do an A&B please!!!

  • I think the only question you need to ask yourself is which one you can afford... especially if you plan on buying several of them

  • I only won't 2, whats the price difference on them can be to much?? but im really not to worried about the price ill pay for a good product

  • Watch the end of the video. I tell some prices there. There's even a link in the discription to Music Trends where you can pick a pair up.

  • Thank you bri I guess I have to pay closer attention

  • Oh ya $350 thats a good deal wow!!

  • He's got the refurbished units for $299

  • where at?

  • sweet light!!!

  • Hey Brian no microphone then eh? So you were just running a dmx program during the music I take it? Nice light for sure!

  • That was Sound Active. Forgot to point out the Mic on the video. Sorry about that

  • Just added an annotation to point out the mic

  • Hey Great tip on the Screws, but check this out my buddy is very handy with wood and he makes me a small box that you can use the rubber feet. What he does is basically just cuts a hole in the top of the box so the clamp sits inside the box and then the you can sit the light flat on the ground, its real simple. ( I hope you understand that ). He also does the same thing with other lights useing a speaker mounting bracket inside the box, so he can use it on a tripod. Just a few more tips.Cheers

  • Hi, im looking to get a few of these as well as the mini wash, do you know if they are x/y assignable? also at 3:50 you say that your full on RGB, and yet the spot is blue? whats up with that?

    Thanks

    Adam

  • I'm pretty sure they are. It appears in the DMX chain and the control panel menu is quite extensive.

When doing RGB with LED, I've found that White is usually a light icy blue. It's probably a bit more White when not being seen thru the lense of a video camera

  • Assuming by X/y you mean Pan and Tilt then yes they have 8 bit and 16 bit x/y.

  • no, im not sure what its called, its like if youve got two fixtures and they are linked together - when one pans left the other pans right, do you know what i mean?

  • Now i understand. We call that "invert" or "reverse" and yes both MiN's are capable of doing that. If you take a look in the manual(you can get it on our website on the MiN spot product page) on page 11. you are looking for the rPAn and the rtil functions. Another added benefit is that with the rdiS you can invert the display to make it easily readable if you hang the light inverted.

  • very clever, well done im definetly looking at getting some of those! thanks

  • Yup, I can only demo that kind of stuff if I get a pair to demo.... HA!

  • good vid bri

  • about the size of a paint can. It aint no mac, but does a killer job

  • love that light...... looks pretty compact in design.... love the random movement...

  • So, is it just ONE LED that can turn any color? Or is there three 4.5ish watt LEDs? The X-Move doesn't do that, it has a color wheel right? Great video, by the way!

  • That's a great question. It looks like just one LED, but I'll try to find out for sure because I'm not 100% certian.

  • Brian, the Minspot & Minwash both use a single 14w RGB LED source, not 3. This is why the light beam is a single beam, not multiple like the Revo etc.

I have like these since they first appeared a few months ago, but found that the 14W LED to be a little low on output for larger rooms.

If they could up the power to that similar to the ADJ 20w LED, then it would be a killer fixture. Still, time will tell, it's still early days for LED.

    Paul.

  • nice video , since you get so many new lights what do you do with the old lights

  • I Won one of these at the NYC stop of the Interstate tour - (Cool Swag too) Kinda weak, and without DMX, it isn't so great. It is sound active, but kinda quirky...

    *Practicing and Enjoying...LOL*

  • nvm. u already posted the song title. awesome song

  • I dig just about anything Sam Obernick sings

  • wats the song starting at 5:00? i heard this in a fatboy slim concert called Beach Boutique 2 i think.

  • Brian, as usual a very informative video. Would you be able to do a side-by-side comparison with the X-Move in Sound Active Mode?

  • thanks brian

  • so is it as bright as the x move?..

  • No, the X Move is brighter at 20w

  • haha...I'm sorry Brian...I hope you mean that in a joking manner.

  • Compared to the X-move...this thing is a joke. IMHO...it isn't worth 399.00!

  • 1 - It's $349

2 - There usually isn't much humble about your oppinions

  • How comparable is this light in brightness, to say a Chauvet Intimidator 1.0, with a 250 Watt halogen bulb?

  • It's been a while since I've had a pair of Intimidator 1.0's, but it seems to be at LEAST that bright if not brighter.

  • hi brian showtec has de sam moving head but its name is micro spot

  • I think for the mobile guy if you have coverted a moving head light a pair or four of these would be a good option, working on the less is more option... 2 of these a revo 3 some washes would prob do it as basic good lighting show..... and if you want something on top ask captain laser! ha je

  • hey brian how would you compare this light to the amdj x move?

  • Well, price wise, this one is for sure more affordable. The X Move is quite a bit brighter with a 20w LED where the MiniSpot has a 14W LED.

  • finaly

you gonna look like a european:Plol

    good luck with it

  • ps witch song is thst i know its old bt didnt remeber it

    thanx

  • It Just Won't Do - Sam Obernick & Tim DeLux

  • Hi Brian - Hatching DJ's!!! Anybody tell ya you are looking more and more like Tony Blair every day!!!

  • I just bought 2 of them from musicians friend for $289 each

  • Is this brighter than the X-move?

  • no, the X Move has a 20 watt LED

  • Is it really noticable? If you could only have one, which one would you get, the X-move or the minspot? With money a factor?

  • Wow, that's a pretty cool light!

How would you compare it to the ADJ LED X-Move?
