The explorer did a very good job clearing the car I didn't even know that we were supposed to clear it especially on foot pursuits but that was very smart I wish we would do more foot pursuits I am with the TRAVIS COUNTY EXPLORER POST 1099 if you guys weren't so far away I would definitely go train with y'all....
I'm in an explorer program in North Carolina. I've only been to two sessions though... All, I know is how to handle a pistol and how to Recover, Clear and Secure a weapon off a suspect. Explorers are fun. I'm a bit shy and would rather go in last. But one of the other people there made a good point. By doing it yourself is a learning experience. So, when I go next week I am going to do what I can myself. I have spectated a couple of times and have an idea of what to do. If I mess up They'll help
Police explorers looks like a total blast, and a great experience, I would join but I don't think I'm going to be an LEO, I'm starting an EMS explorers program soon. Hope you enjoy it, and good luck to you.
Only 1/3 of police explorers nationwide go into law enforcement careers. It's a wonderful experience whether you're interesting in police work or something else.
Well as you can see when the officer runs by the car he has his gun pointed at the truck. This was a regular traffic stop i dont know what you learn Rockspimp but when someone bails out the car most of the time the officer chases the suspect
this is no traffic stop this is more like a felony and you never pass the car you never know who is there officer safety don't you guys get teached anything similar
First off this was a REGULAR traffic stop where people ran, I"m guessing in your post, they tell you exactly what is going to happen before it happens? So YOU suggest, when people run we just watch them go? The officer in this pursuit, did quickly clear the vehicle as he ran past. I'd love to have you come to our post so you can see real REALITY based training.
i'd love to go too, anyway no they don't tell us anything we just know the diffrence in a traffic stop and a felony stop; we know this cause were trained by officers and high agencies oh if your confuse im just 16 not what my age appears in the profile
Well, So you know, I'm actually the police officer that conducted these training sessions. Are mistakes made at times? YES, Did these Explorers to good? Absolutely. We discuss any issues at the end of the scenario. Remember, just because things aren't done Rockspimp's way doesn't make them wrong.
@ExplorerPost1255 Yeah I was wondering about this as well. I've always been told... Well, this is not info I would want public, I will message you with my question.
@ExplorerPost1255 Wrong, you never pass a car in a dangerous traffic stop, if someone had a gun in the car and you chased a suspect past the car, you would get shot. Instead, you should set up a good perimeter rather than chase a suspect you might get shot trying to pursue.
@ExplorerPost1255 You have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know how they train you in this explorer post but in my explorer post you NEVER run past a car in a dangerous traffic stop. And you never do anything unless you have more numbers than the people you are stopping. One person should not be doing everything, there should be people on both sides of the car slowly approaching, and checking the trunk first. But it is good that you are in the explorers.
Uhm, wouldn't anyone, who wanted to have a career that is taking steps to achieve that be a "wannabe"? Wouldn't someone going to college to have a specific job when they are done, be a "wannabe" too?
kind of but the uniforms on kids and such look more humorous then they are respected. The kid with the supposed gun in this vehicle, needs a stronger voice. Doesn't sound much of a command presence tone.
we did traffic stops today, mainly routine but when i was doing it and i went back to the squad car to run the drivers information he bailed and it has been raining here and i tried to jump over a pile of sticks and fell in the mud and didnt get him
Nicely done, I spent 6 years in the Tampa Police Explorer Post #275. Just graduated the academy and am going through the hiring process with a few of the state agencies. My tenure with the explorer post has helped me alot. Its a great program and keep up the good work.
we cant post vids of our program :(
