Singapore is extremely close to Malaysia, and for a matter of fact, we are linked by a bridge. Our durians are imported from Malaysia everyday. The durian hotspot in Singapore is Geylang. Durians are also imported from Thailand and Indonesia. You can find them in Singapore because we love them and it's in great demand especially during the June -August period.
there's something weird about how soft the durian skin is, i dont think ive ever seen one that soft... btw, i love the the way you pronounce the word "durian" ... :)
I'm from Singapore where Durian is in abundant supply. But in that video it looks too strange. Durains should be VERY sharp and I have never come across a durian that opens so easily =P. Some interesting facts about durian, using the "shell" to drink water is known to neutralise the heaty nature of durian, so it is to avoid a possible fever if u eat to much durian. Ideally durian "flesh" shouldn't be too soggy or wet.
Durian is good. But I have only tasted a frosen one. I can imagine how wonderful a fresh one must be. Unfortunately, I cannot get any kinds of durian where I live now anymore. Too far North... Strange, I also got a feeling of nausea when I ate my durian, but I didn't care and ate all of it. And the day after I wanted more. I still do.
Did you hear her say now she likes it and goes to the store every week to get one? That is what happens if you like it. I love them, now I have to go to the Asian district every week to get one. I swear they are addictive. However my wife made me eat it in the garage because it smells. I am amazed she opened it with out a knife.
Wow it depends on where you buy it. I usually don't bye it. My father does. But the last one I ever bought was about $7. I think they're cheaper now. I'll check it out ;)

Fun vid. I tried durian when I was first starting out raw and it was horrible. I think now I would/should give it another go.
You can get fresh durian from asian markets, I've yet to try the frozen ones. Anyhoo, take care!
