  • One of her finest hours! Brilliant song ;-)

  • Heh. I remember being transfixed by this video on TV when I was a kid.

  • pile of shit.

  • @trashcanalive - As are you and your shallow bullshit comment!

  • I've always loved this song (had the 7" & 12" as a kid) but had never seen the video, although there's not much too it I couldn't take my eyes off her! Loved it!

  • wow loved Toyah scince i was 13 i am now 44 long time scince i saw this video i think Pink is Toyah`s love secret love child HA by the way another great artist who i hope i will be remembering in another 30yrs xx

  • What would you do her in that dress? Fab video what a difference to the way she is in quadrophenia.

  • She looks much taller than her 5 feet here. (150cm)

  • OMG! This is the first time in 25 years I see this. I used to watch her all the time on Music Box, the first music channel we got in the Netherlands. Anyone remember that channel? I used to watch it non stop. I learned English from watching that old station.

As a young teen I thought Toyah was amazing. I loved the dress and hair.

  • "Don't fall in love, I thaid." God I love her, she's adorable and unique. These new pop divas hailed as being "unique" are just cheap imitations of Toyah, Nina, and Lene.

  • @MordaciousFilms Yes, they're also cheap wannabee imitators of Kim Wilde, Stevie Nicks, Bangles, Cyndi Lauper, Kirsty MacColl, Voice Of The Beehive, Aimee Mann, Grace Jones, Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde.

  • this could have won us eurovision easily

  • "Euphoria is a silver state"...Don't fall in love!.. and I agree, THE PRICE is too much... lols

  • talented, beautiful, sexy, with more than a hint of mischief in those wonderful eyes, all coupled with this song equals perfect.............................

  • she looks good enought to eat in this video..........real woman..........

  • "warrior Rock" is on CD by the way, I have a copy, Edsel Records released it a few years back, look it up on amazon

  • god I loved this song as a kid. I heard it on Kenny Everett & the song blew my mond because it was so powerful & you could understand every word she sung

  • What a babe.

  • Never seen this video until now, and talking as a 31 year old I think she rocks! Much better than the pretentious crap we get nowadays.

  • Am I the only one here in America who loves Toyah? I have all her records (not kidding) I wish her "Warrior Rock" live album was available on dvd..a dream come true if only...

love this song, and as someone mentioned before, "Snow Covers The Kiss" is a killer track, and deserved to be a single, glad it is available to us. on vinyl and cd.

    Greetings to Toyah fans everywhere.

  • one of my top fav toyah songs!! soooooo awesome!!!!!!

  • ahh the memories.85,yts scheme,£25.25 a week,shite job,maggie thatcher.but the best music in the world.wouldnt change a thing....

  • Luved Toyah, then some one told her she could sell records if she was sexy. Ta!ra! Danced.

  • Is it me or does this have Bowie over tones ? I just think that the way she acts and the way the song goes it reminds me of him ... I love this tune but its just what I think :)

  • FIT wasn't she!! & she could turn on the raunch too.

MMMMMM - I'm privilaged have 'the changling' album signed by her

  • I wouldn't half love to bum her.

    Tidy, very tidy.

  • @brianblessedsbellend - good lord man where did you come up with that name, your either completely bonkers or a god damn genius :)

  • @bermondseystu

I think it was in Viz years ago. I don't know why, but it stuck in my mind, and may look a bit groovy as a username on youtube.

I wish to make it clear that I don't wish to have anything to do with the penis of Mr Brian Blessed.

  • wr's the party

  • ez iz un pilun uv ebsolute shizer,ez ve sey in Freiburg.

  • Sex on legs!

  • Toyah at her Absolute Best!!!!!!

  • I so wanted this dress....in fact I still do!

  • love this song...great performance by toyah

  • genial....esto es pop electronico de calidad...me encantan estas canciones que crean evolucion en su transcurrir.....buenisimo

  • looks like the middle of winter when this vid was shot - bet her nipples were like Scammel Truck wheel nuts in that scanty outfit! *tiger-like growl!*

  • what crap

  • what a tigh body.

  • that suit she is wearing is like she is begging for a make-out session . not sex, just make-out .

  • This is Toyah's best song by, should have done much better than no.25 or whatever it got to.

  • Why do I like this?

  • What's not to like?

  • Because it's fab!!!

  • pmsl

  • none of her 80s stuff ever got released in america; we had to get everything on imports, and never heard her on the radio..I wanted to move to the UK

  • Wow, amazing!!! I'm an 80's kid, and I just love this!!!

  • And everyone reckons that lady gaga is sooooo theatrical and kool...give me Toyah, nina Hagen...80's anyday!

  • i met toyah on saturday during a concert. amazing but tbh lady gaga is far more creative and artistic

  • LOL

    Toyah is an icon

Lady gaga is just nothing compared to this creative Lady

  • @prettybionic i totally agree with you, the singers today only last 5mins because they cant go the distance as far as talent and class go. I have seen Toyah many times in concert and would love to see Nina Hagen in concert but unfortunately Nina doesnt do any world tours only European tours which doesnt include the UK unfortunalty , i dont do open air gigs but if Nina ever did Glastonbury i`d be there no danger. as it is i have to settle for youtube videos.

  • @prettybionic I think Toyah's more edgy than Lady Gaga... a lot more feisty, and shows feminine independence. And Toyah's got actual theatrical talent and experience.

  • @prettybionic I AM OK WITH YOU Prettybionic

  • Mmmmm yum x;)

  • Love her vids and songs. Go Toyah!

  • wat for a woman! Great!!!

  • seeing her live on saturday along with rick astley belinda carlile mitch ure and curiosity killed the cat :D

  • she was lady gaga of that time i admire her for that good voice 2

  • you`ve just got to love Toyah haven`t you.god bless her!

  • Wicked Awesme! 80's flashback!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • All her songs have such catchy tunes. No joke. She's amazing.

  • I grew up listening 2 toyah .She was ahead of her time

  • This is an cool song, shes an amazing performer and i dont give a damn where shes from.

  • Countries arent physically real u guys. they r abstract concepts only existing on maps and in ur minds, by the armies that force people apart. were all human beings, and its one world without boundaries (if you look at it from higher up). Its divided up into countries so few can rule many using deceptive divide n rule.

  • How the hell did she keep her hair immobile? I could NEVER get my to stand up through the Pacific Northwest rain.

  • she's an English punk! Of course she can make her hair stand up.

  • Haha! :D

  • The answer is soap & plenty of it !

  • To the person who sent me 'im not your flower' it's poe faced people like you that make life just a little bit greyer. It was meant to make you smile (remember smiling...people used to do it a lot before they took themselves too seriously)

  • God damn! she is beautiful in this video

  • a great song to mime to and pretend your in the video

  • I think we all just saw your life then petal

  • I love this! She is great. Great style!

  • Man I love that outfit and her hair is awesome. She must have industrial strength glue in it to stand the wind, lol.

  • Shes nothing like Kate Bush! Kate Bush was never punk now was she, idiot.

  • I love that dress! The hair colour reminds me of Final Fantasy IV and VI...

  • she looks fierce!

    =]

  • She's just copying Kate Bush

  • she was before kate bush

  • um no she wasnt,

and its apples and oranges to compare them

  • Copying Kate Bush my arse! I am a fan of both Toyah and Kate, they are NOTHING alike. Toyah came from punk and is her own warrior with lots of edge and Kate Bush is theatrical and classic. THIS is supreme,,, Toyah's look in this video is purely SUPERB! She looks stunning in that dress and the hair is FABULOUS!... THe B-Side to this track is actually my FAV Toyah track ever "Snow Covers The Kiss". I wish that was the A-Side, it's perfection... They dohn't make pop stars like this anymore, cry!

  • I agree TOTALLY, she's a massive star, always renewing herself, a creative and charismatic lady. Exactly like Kate Bush but they have nothing in common, indeed

  • Available on the 2CD set "Good Morning Universe- The very Best Of Toyah" which is released on 30th June 2008.

  • Those shoulders! That skin! That hair. That dress. That voice Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.Beautiful

  • Toyah looks STUNNING! I envy her good looks! ♥

  • my heroine of the 80s, I tried all the hairstyles

  • the synchronisation sucks

  • She must have been colder than when she appeared in The Ebony Tower. She had marginally less on! Honey, you are the reason I'm still single. Never, ever stop. XXX

  • i think toyah is fab

  • love her hair, she was my hero in my teens :-)

    thanks for the post

    :-)

  • never heard of her, where is she from?

  • She started out as a punk rock singer back in the late 1970's (1977- Jubileee, 1979, Quadrophenia). You can find out more at her wikipedia entry.

  • from UK

  • Toyah was HUGE in the UK back in the 80's...Still a regular on UK TV networks as well as cable and satelite stations...her best hit in my oppinion was 'it's a mystery' look it up ;-)

  • She's still really well known in the UK. She was in Closer Magazine,Daily Mail and Sunday Mail newspapers last week. She also presented "Tonight" on primetime ITV1 last Friday.

  • she was a complete unknown in the USA...

  • Her management never arranged for her to go to the USA. She was apparently fairly well known across mainland Europe, Australia and South Africa.

  • I knew her only as "Monkey" in Quadrophenia until about a year ago. She's far better than Madonna ever was and it's a shame she didn't get more exposure here.

  • Not really...my friends and I knew of her back in the 80's...she had a cult following here. I remember her look before Cyndi Lauper broke through.

  • she was probably just under the radar, i dont remember her at all. neither do any of my friends

  • Probably. I first saw her round '79 or '80 in Jubilee and not long after that her song DANCE! In Urgh A Music War.

  • Where were you??? she was huge in the early 80's absolutely bloody everywhere, mobbed by screaming fans etc etc

  • she was a virtual unknown in the USA, it seems that the majority of her success was confined to her native UK...

  • Oh i see...sorry i thought you were in the UK

  • ok.......

  • well.of course the us is well known as a directive and frontleading music frontier........lol..........Toyah ruled the British charts in the early 80's........and , as we all know, we rule the world when it comes to music..the fact that you have not heard of her displays ur ignorance.......have you heard of the Beatles ??

  • No. 1 - learn to spell

    No. 2- ask Safari records

No.3 - I refer you to The Beatles, Elton John and the Rolling Stones

    No.4 - LEARN TO SPELL

    that's all

  • its pretty lame when your argument consists of pointing out typos..thanks teach, i WILL use spell check next time, learn your facts, it was portrait records a subsidiary of CBS that didnt or wouldnt released her here....elton john, the beatles, rolling stones...all "pre-historic" acts some 30 plus years old....i still think boy george better represents the UK

  • "and i think paris hilton represents ths US"....you call that thinking??...lol

  • nice intro

  • toyah has a sexy body in this dress because it's tight and shiny rubber and rubber is very very sexy when shined up

    the song fab as well.

  • Her older work was about something other than love songs, which I believe gave her a more interesting edge. That chorus is so canned sounding-hallmark of the late 80's. I like the old work so much more.

  • yeh well what do you know you prat....nothing by the sounds of it!! if your gonna start dissin stuff dont feckin watch it,moron!

  • ye would.nt fit in it ye fat twat

  • another great comment STEDANAHER!!! you are so witty and clever!! wow your comments are some of the very best.... have you ever thought about learning English?

  • Mate that made me laugh out loud

  • Amazing song, amazing dress! ;-D

  • i always liked singing along with this in the mirror..toyahs fabbest moment

  • I once read that the dress was modelled from Grace Jones's body, doesn't she have the same dress in green????

  • Toyah at her BEST???

  • Hey sheepfarminginternet this is TriballisticRebellion off The Toyah- Dreamscape Fan Forum.

I agree, Toyah's hair is a work of art in this vid and the dress and gloves are bloody fantastic.

  • i was going to say she deserves an emmy or academy award for acting in this vid! you can see her breath AND a fan blowing at her outdoors... as a Canadian... YOU DA BEST GIRLIE!

  • Yeh... I was 16 when i watched that vid and this is the first time i've seen it since 85 and yes...it still give's me wood, what a woman xxx and the kinky dress

  • its aged pretty well that, good job toyah!

  • The things that video did for me when I was 15 ! ! !

  • Wow! forgot just how sexy she was (and probably still is).

  • i like it veeeeeeeeeeeeery much!

  • God I love this video!

Is anyone one else reminded of the much-later 'Sensual world' video by Kate Bush as they watch this?

    ;-)

    ?

  • a brilliant woman who is also really hot, in a patent leather dress...i need a towel.

  • lol a towel? dream on....

  • now now sam5, it is a very hot dress but I am busy watching her gorgeous little face and trying to decide if that was really filmed outdoors...I think they just imposed fog and near her mouth, mist...to make the coldness real. I think sh'e indoors, does anyone know for sure? Anyhow it's a very great catchy song and video and I love her hair.

  • This is 85 and the video cost about £3,000. Of course it's outside. Considering it's about -3 I think she did an amazing job...

  • Nope they filmed it in some woods - cant remember where. Then they she wore it for tv recording and it was so hot she sweated buckets in it and it slid off in front of loads of people, cooled and shrank so she couldnt pull it back up. She was stark naked underneath

  • Oh dear poor Toyah!

I bet she had a great sense of humour about it though LOL!

  • Actually I don't have a fear of theatrics, I was just saying that some of her songs I like and some I don't.

    :)

  • That was her style. Unlike many manafactured bland personality brainless singers these days she had her own style and a brain and done some great stuff.

  • I bought this was and is good song. Saw her live on the here and now tour in 2002 she had still got it.

  • god you and your fear of theatrics1.

its all cool toyah is not a "shit" singer she stands the test of time great lady and yes the song was a top 30 hit in todays terms that is 100s of thousands of copies sold so it is probably 5 no 1s compared to todays contrived drivel!

  • I don't think the song and her singing are that bad, but I must admit that Toyah can be a bit over-the-top theatrical at times.

  • That's a big part of why I love her.

  • i never really thought i was a fan of toyah...

but she definitely proved me wrong with this song

    its fucking cool

  • Like the song its original and the video and it was a big hit

  • this was when she was trying to go mainstream...not many people got it.

  • From an OLD Toyah Fan

Loved the Song but Hate the video

  • one of the best reminders of good 80's music

  • Degenerateen, are you deaf?

  • i liked it,shows everyones opions are different

  • how would you know ye stone fucking deaf

  • i like the way your comments make no sense at all - good work - are you foreign?

  • Nobody on the internet seems capable of forming coherent sentences. Whatever happened to punctuation?

  • ,./;'?
