I love the iroc because it is like the 64 gto of the 80's. It is, in my opinion, is the start of the rebirth of the muscle car. I personally prefer the 80's muscle to 60's muscle because they were fast and they make their power from the same size or smaller displacements. Also, the third gen camaro was a much better design than the first, by nature of the design and the design process. The first gen z28 started as a base car made faster while the thirdgen started as a z28 and was made cheaper.
I'll be damned if I can remember one single night at New England Dragway when one of these showed up. Not once. Lots of turbo Regals and Mustangs. But zero F-body Firebirds or Camaros. The Guidos could either chase big haired chicks or chase the tail lights of real cars. I guess they chose the Stellas.
@nimaxx38 Nice... the 1990 IROC-Z Camaro was the fastest of the 85-90 models. It should have the G92 option (performance package) so it should be a nice runner... take good care of it. Check out my website for tons of info on the 1990 model StreetShowDriftDrags(dot)com there is plenty of video footage, history, facts, pictures, etc... drop me an email if you need some tips on cheap easy modifications to kill those ever popular 5.0 Mustangs...LOL!!! I'd be more than happy to help out.
I have an 88 iroc-z with the 5.7 tpi, same engine that is in the corvettes from this time period, i love it my favorite body style camaro. Fixing it up to be painted, it's almost ready! :D
I don't know what it is about the IROC style of Camaros, but for my money, they are my favorite Camaro design ever. Yes, other years of Camaros have had better this and that, but the IROC is the one that I will always remember as THE Camaro. It has a modern car look while retaining that badass, old school style that never gets old. Camaros fucking rule!
@kohlerjo lol lol God only knows what happend. I think alot has to do with the fact that most if not all cars today have carbon fiber bodies. With the IROC, they still made look tough and agressive and still looked like a muscle car...I think the entire car industry lost their minds soon after that. I know Carbon Fiber bodies drastically help in an accident and im truly greatfull for that, but fuckin A, that doesnt mean we have to make cars look like electric shavers now do we? lol
@ryano2099 Carbon fiber bodies on most cars? Think again. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Carerra GT. So with the exception of MAYBE a few exotics out there, most if not all car bodies are still made of steel. Some fenders are some sort of plastic or fiberglass but rarely carbon fiber.
Its been mentioned already..but pound for pound, more American women were nailed in an IROC Z that any other car EVER..just a fact...let it soak in....soak...
@phatcamaro Febreez removes "vaj jay jay" secretions from cloth seats..sheesh you cant own an IROC and not know about the pussy juice...back in 1987 the dealer even warned me of that
Sabbath7, do you realize how full of ignorance your comment is? Comparable 82-92 Firebirds weighed hundreds of pounds more than the Camaros, and were powered mainly by the same exact 305's.
What does the bodystyle of the Mustangs have to do with what they could beat? What a damn noob.
I guess you don't know that Firebirds, Camaros, and Buick GN's are all GM cars.
I'll love my Third Gen forever, at least you have nothing to forget. Don't worry, you'll get your first car someday!
stock 350 88 iroc is 230 horsepower see mine on you tube at irocz-1.mpg,irocz-2.mpg,irocz-3.mpg,and irocz-4.mpg thats the sound of 550 horses stroked 383 cubic inch motor, watch and enjoy let me know what you think.
340 ho stock iroc-z??? u smoking crack? they put out around 230hp and r dogs, heavy and under powered, Better than the 205 5.0 mustang tho but any car in the late 70's and 80's sucked ass period
These were fun to drive. They didnt dick around with the motors to meet fuel economy standards back then. When you stepped on the throttle it would snap your neck. Today all mass produced cars feel weak unless you gun it.
GM gears all its V8's for fuel economy now. The V8's of the 80's were geared for torque. You had to really step on the newer Camaros to get that 'neck snap' kind of power.
ok if u think thts so well why could a 69 copo camaro tht now 40yrs old woop a new 09 gt500kr thts 80,000 dollars the camaro has 550hp and the ugly stang has 500+ hp and the camaro was about 8,000 dollars back then and the stang is 80,000 dollars yes im talking about a STOCK copo camaro and they still have 550hp camaro could blast a stang off the road anytime like they have done with any other car

3rd generation Camaros are the ones Chevy guys try to forget. Buick GN's, Firebirds and Notchback Mustangs were raping them early and often.

The IROC makes you FEEL like a champion. You're really not one, you just FEEL like one.
The only thing those two cars had in common was the name.
