@NCHollop Well, chickens are going to differ from one to another. If you are looking for a more docile breed in general, you can try Barred Plymouth Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, or Black Australorps.
@NCHollop I have both the Barred Plymouth Rock and Black Australorps. Neither of them make much noise when they're by themselves, but if I open the coop up or walk around the run, the Barred Plymouth Rock will squawk loudly for treats until I leave. The Black Australorps won't make any noise at all, though. This is only in my experience of course.
They're pretty but they aren't the best examples of the breed. Their lacing is poor and their body shape doesn't have the roundness the wyandotte should. Pretty all the same.
You can tell those hens were just put in that coop. Notice how tenative they were when coming out and then heads held hight and tails erect, very suspicious of their new surroundings.
@SheWhoFeels : We'd love to see a picture of Willow! Also, we're always looking for folks to go on video and tell us what they like about chickens. If you'd like to share, you can e-mail us pictures, videos or stories. We love to see them!
About how much would 5 chickens cost to maintain? Food, shavings, etc.? thank you

I think these are some of the prettiest chickens I've ever seen. I hope to have some myself someday!

These are not typical of the breed. Mine are much larger, rounder and have smaller fan shaped tails, not held erect like those.
