  • HOLY SHIT! is that slatten ranch? I used to work at that target over there. They treat their employees as expendable hardware. The harder you work, the more they will keep you in that position not being able to move up.

  • Anyone with updates on the situation?

  • What progress has been made? I don't think the views have increased much since this was posted. Perhaps with more exposure, customers will write letters into the corporate office asking that something fair should be done. If you know about this, tell 20 people and hopefully a chain reaction will happen.

  • @mushu1475 but the chain reaction has to start in a key critical way. There has to be something that would outrage the public. They aren't going to care if hours are cut due to and economic recession, and since that's happening everywhere. Yes shitty companies like Bevmo ARE exploiting this and using it to their advantage.

  • All I have to say is when you have your Friday store meeting don't give in.

  • Why so much disagreement and misunderstanding among the ranks? We are all on the same side, people! Let's start figuring out what our "united front" should look like and sound like. All employees will be attending mandatory meetings this week where their loyalty to the union will be challenged. Are we ready to go into battle?

  • @roming4homes

I totally agree! Please go to facebook and read the discussion board. Maybe this will help people on here understand things a little bit more. PLEASE pass this information along.

  • Many of management inside Bev Mo' are former Liquor Barn & Safeway personnel.

They were UFCW members in the beginning of their careers. They had benefits for their families. It helped to pay for child birth, glasses, braces, prescriptions for themselves and their family members. They received sick leave and vacation and accrued retirement.

Some of these same folks telling you the union is no good will are applying for their UFCW retirement in a few years. Don't be fooled by their hypocrisy.

  • @albanyfan1

This is what the employees need to hear!! We need to get more employees involved. A lot of employees do not know, nor understand what is going on with the company right now and a lot our afraid of speaking out. We need to spread the word before the "HUGE" meeting taking place on Wednesday.

  • @dominogiz2010

D.M's and S.M's are telling all clerks who actually know about what's going on to hush about it. but i think that every bevmo employees should know about this and i think that union should make their way to sacramento to.. i'm sure there are some employees who are expecting union to be there on there side.

  • (CONTINUED) No one should sign these contracts because it is not the responsibility of the UFCW to pay our wage, to supply our benefits, to give us hours. Those are all things our employer needs to be responsible for. The UFCW is here to assist us in the process of collective bargaining, and to support our *worker-led* movement. As soon as Alan Johnson's name appears at the bottom of that contract, we're in business.

  • There has been a lot of discussion about the agreement being given out by corporate, I'd like to clear some things up: It is NOT an agreement prohibiting workers from engaging in union activity; that would be illegal. It is a contract, written by BevMo! lawyers. They've outlined the demands we've set forth, but rather than assuming the responsibility of carrying out those demands, they've put that responsibility solely on the UFCW. The only signature it calls for is that of the UFCW. (MORE)

  • FYI...those in the corporate office received DOUBLE bonuses this year! They didn't make these cuts to full time employees because of the economy. They made their numbers and then some in 2009. They are doing it to be greedy.

  • @mushu1475

Let's not forget the fact that BevMo Is Attempting to go IPO this year, what a better way to Pad the Initial Stock prices.. Alan Johnson said this move was to "better position the company to provide good service to its customers". I disagree. It put them in a better position to gain more off of that initial IPO stock!

  • Stand together- unite brothers and sisters!

  • People....don't sign anything! Employees are receiving UFCW agreements which is a paper for you to give to union reps. It is essentially a list of demands for you to put on the union which they are supposed to agree to. Unions cannot possibly agree to something like this, especially if generated from the company they are questioning. Until you understand completely what you are reading and what it means, don't sign anything!

  • DO NOT sign ANYTHING BevMo Sends you in your mail, or that your managers give you to sign. They WILL do ANYTHING to stop their workers from Unionizing and standing up for themselves. they don't care about the employees, they only care about their profits!!! Management is only concerned with keeping THEIR jobs, and doing what the Corp offices tell them to do!

  • @dominogiz2010

The Union is trying to FIGHT for these people. what your saying sounds like your telling them NOT to work with the Union who is TRYING to stand up for these people.

  • @whatsurproblemcb

You are misinformed.. What the management is trying to get the clerks to sign is an agreement to take no part in what the union is trying to do, Completely countering the union & workers. I'd almost wager that you are nothing more than a Corp Lapdog trying to discredit the attempt of the workers to band together & fight BevMo for more respect & better treatment. lapdogs like you need to be taken to the back 40 & put down

"Next time reread the comments before you miss speak. Now go tame yourself." perhaps you should re-read what you wrote. I read it several times before i responded to your statements, and to me it seemed as though you were against what the union was trying to accomplish. perhaps next time you post you should be a little more clear with your statements to avoid such issues as this, and not need to get into flaming sessions

  • @whatsurproblemcb

Actually to my knowledge Bevmo Management aren't approaching any clerks to sign any agreement! The Bevmo Management are voting no, on the behalf for their clerks! so therefore non of the clerks knows anything about signing any damn form!

  • (Continued from Below) to relive her before she could leave to go to the hospital.. and to top it all off, she's forced to take unpaid maternity leave, since they refused to classify her as a full time employee. we were forced to get financial assistance from the state, and had to get her on medical to cover the hospital costs. BevMo should NOT be allowed to treat any of there workers like chattel, and should be FORCED to treat those who work for them as PEOPLE, not a number on a timecard.

  • My Fiance works for BevMo, when she notified management that she was pregnant, They Removed all her Responsibilities, Cut her hours down to 12 a week stating that she was "no longer reliable", was forced to work for hours without breaks, not provided a chair to sit in, but rather, was given a stack of wine boxes to sit on while she was on shift. She had a few complications during the pregnancy, and at on point was hemorrhaging @ work, but was forced to stay till someone could be called

  • Just a FYI, keep all comments to yourselves and do not communicate them to your management teams. They are the watchdogs for Corp. Anyone caught speaking to union reps will be having their hrs cut. I am sure that most of the Bevmo employees have heard more on the meetings....do not be afraid to stand up for your rights. What bothers me the most is that coporate is totally denying all wrong doing in this video and are "trying" to brainwash the management staff. Hopefully they have sense.

  • @MsLolitaG I totally agree!!!!!!

  • I worked for BevMo for 13 years. When TB took over and the new CEO and Pres. came in everything started to change. They started firing corp. employees and started bringing in their friends from old jobs they have left. At the same time all of the cuts started happening at store level. Managers and Asst. Managers started quiting right and left. It was a great com. to work for for a long time. Jim Simpson, Steve Mac. I'm sure you are sorry this is all happening. It's just not the same.

  • For the record, Doug is not Bevmo. Maria now is. Doug however is just lost in her tukus. From what I hear. I'm just saying.

  • How do we get the leaflets from you so we can pass them around?

  • I am not with the company anymore, but I am still down for my bevmo brothers and sisters; so I have removed my pointed remark.

  • Managers are taking direction from Corporate. Instead of commenting specifically on individuals working at the store, please comment on what bothers you about BevMo corporation.
