thanks guy! this worked flawlessly. for people who are having problem's downloading gingerbreak and don't want to install opera, i downloaded to my macbook and moved it onto my sd card, no issues whatsoever.

TIPS and TROUBLES:

- Use the Opera browser to download the file to your phone (stock browser doesn't allow it).

WARNINGS:

- Does NOT work for 2.2.2.

- Wipes out your SD card, so best to use a spare if you can.

** Based on downloading the apk directly to device and running as shown in vid. Exploit never completed; had to reboot phone.

it worked for me. the only problem i had was with my sd card. it disconnected the first time and then restarted the phone. so i just switched to a different card and it worked like a charm thanks.

okay so i got it rooted using this link. I however did it a little different. My phone was not downloading it from that link prob. because of the web browser issue. I took out my sd card and inserted it into my laptop and went to the website and downloaded it to my sd card. then opened it on my phone,IT WORKED!!!! I have tried so many different rooting methods and spent atleast 5 hours the other day trying to do it!!!!! Thank you for making it the easy way every!

ok i got it to download. just couldnt do it with the stock browser so i did it with the opera browser. so i did everything and even got the superuser. but when i went to the about phone setting it still showed android version 2.2.1. how do i know its a 2.3 version? does it show in the superuser app?

@kingamin77 Rooting it doesn't change the version of android, it just gives you root permissions to the device. You will have to install a custom ROM to get 2.3. Watch my other video on how to do that.

@kingamin77 Youre gonna have to hook it up to your computer and copy it over. I think some of the newer versions of android for this phone don't allow you to download things directly to the phone. I had this problem on a new phone i had but not my old one.
