If someone is hitting you or screaming in your ear, or a friend is abusing you, are you just suposed to tollerate it and never complain about it??? I'M CONFUSED!!
Tsem Rinpoche actually thanks the participants for attending the talk ,how humble is the lama. But it shows in Malaysia, Buddhism is not deeply rooted as the people do not know the benefits of the dharma, those people should be thanking the lama for getting more knowledge and wisdom to fight samsara.
Rinpoche told the story of how all the masters in Nalanda were asked by someone to compose manjushri prayers. And all the prayers turned out to be the same through manjushri inspiration during the night despite the thousands of monks not consulting one another. .
Someone who is accomplished in tantra one can use afflictive emotions with Bodhicitta to tame sentient beings, though he has no afflictive emotions himself . Nice.
Lama Atisha is such a great practitioner to bring an old monk to Tibet who constantly criticizes him throughout. And Lama Atisha even served the old monk despite the old monk disturbing even when Lama Atisha was teaching .
Whenever we meet people who are ill tempered we need to treat them like a previous jewel. When we meet such beings it is like giving a meter for us to check our level, if we are disturbed it gives us a measure of our self cherishing
We can develop penetrative insight into a subject by contemplating on the subject again and again , to mix it with our mind. Our afflictive emotion will become less if we keep on contemplating the disbenefits of afflictive emotion that harms ourselves and others.
Like Rinpoche said, any ordinary being would have done the unspeakable to this old monk but not Lama Atisha. This is testimony that dharma works and the teachings of Lord Buddha is faultless. So everyone who has the good fortune to "bump" into these teachings should make every effort to find out more. Be Thirsty for it! Be Greedy for it! Be Ready for it!
Yes, Rinpoche is very kind, and he does cares alot for all his student, Thats why till today, Rinpoche has so many students, and the Center is growing bigger and bigger to benefit more people.....
Callalils i agree what you said here. Just like Rinpoche, he's so kind to bring all of us near him to practise the Dharma, Rinpoche want us to transform, so that we wont suffer anymore life after life.......
Even Lama Atisha has people who disagree with him. So let alone ordinary beings like us. Instead of avoiding, Atisha brought the monk closer to remind himself to practice patience. So we ordinary beings must put much more effort to our practice.
Most of us are so full of delusions. So if we have no delusions, we will naturally have peace and tranquil. Delusion obstructs liberation and destroy mental peace. If we can curtail our delusions, no external problems can have the power to disturb our minds UNLESS we respond to them by developing DELUSIONS
I wish I be like Atisha :) It seems that I have difficulties to love aggressive people(to me) or people who hurt or torture other people or animals...
Hahaha,....Agree with you Shoujian, How i wish i can participate in this holy teaching, and start it at that time, but lucky is not too bad now, at least now i'm here to practise dharma, to help Rinpoche grows his Dharma work and projects.....I'm blessed.......
I feel the audience here is so blessed! I thinks it was posted is another video that Tsem Rinpoche get the teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself. How i wish to be in the group of audience in front of Rinpoche now.
The 8 verse of mind transformation will be my main practice now. I will constanly remind myself of the 8 verse, Thank you Rinpoche!
it's really hard to imagine how a person can wish to be close to his enemy...unless he or she happens to be enlightened. It might be difficult to do, but we could try our best to emulate..
i am so glad you got a new camera. you should redo this teaching, because noise and bad filmage is sooo distracting. i like the story about atisha. plz dun drop an h bomb on me. bad karma. i run fast any way. lol.
i have been really afflicted the past two days with memories of people that afflict me, even though I wrote out the 8 verses like so many times, I can't focus and i can't stop thinking about this person. i saw one of them in the library and smiled at them, but they just ignored me like i was a bad person. so i am just going to write out them some more.
writing the 8 verses down without contemplation or whatsoever is not of any use at all. We should really contemplate deeply on how we can apply it in daily situations instead of writing it down like a zombie or a machine. Then, the 8 verses will be helpful in combatting your problems.
to think about the point again and again and again helps you to penetrate through it and finally learn what it is all about. All the great inventors have used this way to get their inventions out as well...

Merits that arise due to us doing actions free of the eight worldly concerns is inexhaustible until we become enlightened.

When medicines no long work , when our doctors give up on us , when whatever I do is futile only the dharma can be of benefit to us.

I'm so happy for you to be able to assist Rinpoche to grow his dharma work. It is such a blessing.
Speaking of the video, do you know where I can get a copy? it would be beneficial if we can share this video with our friends and family.
