@410and443 Dumbest thing i've ever heard. LOL! The first thing that comes to a persons mind when this position is brought up (WR) or in a conversation about who is the greatest WR ever? It's Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice was voted by the NFL as the GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME.
No I am not a 49er whiner fan, However I give credit when credit is due.
@aMSkEes your right,Jerry Rice is the greatest receiver of all time,no doubt about it,but at the beginning of his statement,he clearly said "in my opinion",let the dude have his own opinion and respect it bro...
i remeber back when i was a kid and football was football u could dance when in the endzone u could hit shitty recivers that duck/slide into your helmet QB's where fearless WR went to get the ball and just the beast that was football now it is some bullshit dont hit too hard on these mommy boys coming out of college who cant play with a cramped pinky and these QB's who are scared to get hit or anything WR who will let ball's go goes they are scared to get hit I WANT THE OLD FOOTBALL BACK
@eagleboy201 I can respect that bro. I have a cousin that is an Eagles fan from Philly and, he told me that the majority of the Eagle fans were happy to see Irvin hurt, not because they hated him, but because they got tired of him beating up on the Eagle DBs.
@TheTexanBorn That is true. and the eagles have rising stars at the WR position Desean Jckson is one of the best in the game but it pisses me off and probly alot of other eagle fans when he wont go across the middle Michael Irvin would never hesitate to do that
@eagleboy201 Understood! DeSean and Jeremy Maclin has the potential to be one of the great recieving duos in the league. But like you said, you can not be afraid to go over the middle. That deep ball will not always be there and when you can't go deep, you need to atleast be able to move the chains. If the Eagles can shore up the o-line as well as the secondary, you guys definitely have something up there in Philly. I like Avant as y'all's 3rd reciever as well.
@TheTexanBorn yup Desean lives by the deep ball i understand that he is probly the smallest player in the leauge but if the game is on the line ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. yeah but i cant wait till this upcoming season.....should be a good one
@eagleboy201 It'll definitely be interesting. It's good to talk football with a rival and not have to argue or curse each other out. LOL! Much respect bro!
@Tragedy559 Man...I hope so. The thing about Irvin is that, besides our offensive lines, Irvin was THE heart and soul of our Super Bowl teams. Aikman was great as well as Emmitt but, without Irvin and those o-lines, we were nothing. Not to mention, Irvin didn't take plays off like a lot of these recievers do today. He played hard every down! Hopefully, Dez can do the same.
@jeremytexas i bet it saddens you to know that even though he did drugs and slept with hooters girls(which i dont see bad in the first place, besides the fact that he committed adultry) he still has millions more than you...
@deseanjackson1010 mike Irvin is better than any receiver that the eagles have ever had,the fact that you had to name a different teams receiver prooves it,and d.jackson will never even be on the same planet as irvin...
I would take Michael over the T.O'S AND Mosses of the nfl any day..Michael was not worried about catching balls he just wanted to do what was best for the team..Moss and T.O could give a rats ass if the team wins as long as they get the ball. How many times did Michael catch 3 or 4 passes and walked off the field happy as could be as long as they won..T.O and moss play when they feel like it..Michael gave 100% every down. The other 2 are just worried about stats.
@MrFburgos You is a damn lie! Michael wanted the ball alot of times...if he didn't get the ball when they was losing...he would act a damn fool! You must was born in the 90s???
Put in 100% every single game.Unlike the mosses and owens of the world they play when they feel like it..I would take Michael any day on my team. The cowboys had talent but there where plenty of leaders on that team and that is why they won...
The One and Only Paymaker. He may not have the eye-popping numbers, but he showed up every game, work hard, and made plays in the biggest games on the biggest stages. The bigger the stage the bigger he showed up and that sustained from college to the pros. A tue Hall of Famer. My favorite All-time Football Player Period!!!

One of the most underrated receivers in history but definitely a playmaker in the truest form.....he was the soul of those dominant Cowboy teams from 90's that made them Super Bowl contenders year in and year out.
@ForeverYoung2708 Michael Irvin is a great receiver hands down! However, I don't think he's underrated. He played for one of the greatest football teams of all time, he has 11,000 yards and 90 TDs. Even though Carter played way longer his numbers are way better and yet he doesn't really get much attention. I'm bias though, just thought I would share my humble opinion though.
I don't think there will ever be another receiver who played as hard, who gave as much, who tried every single down of every play.... like Michael Irvin.
This video may be poor quality - but it sure brought a smile to my face.
LOL, gee I wonder why. Still don't know? He admits partying with Dieon getting all cracked out and staying up all night before the noon game. I still like the guy though...lol
You can say whatever you want about Jerry Rice being the best WR of all time but Irvin is deffinately the most exciting WR to watch... EVER. No one did it like The Playmaker.
XXPUDDLES... You accuse me of "extending the argument." Argh! what part of, you need not reply, or, "just go play", don't you understand???
Your dad aside, being a potty-mouth 14 yo doesn't entitle you to say that you were raised particularly well. So, spare me the self-serving and highly debatable drivel. btw: You can block me, (I'd actually appreciate the honor) or I just might email you later; cause you've certainly have a lot to learn.
All Time Greatest Wide Receivers: Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Art Monk, Paul Warfield, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, John Jefferson, James Lofton & Howard Camichel.
The best of the best is Jerry Rice; the most graceful is a tie between Paul Warfield & Lynn Swann; the most talented and feared is a 3-way tie between Randy Moss, John Stallworth & John Jefferson.
I like your picks as well as my own: Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Art Monk, Paul Warfield, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, John Jefferson, James Lofton & Howard Carmichael.
My list kinda shows my age tho. For me, the "business" of football (free agency and mega salaries/contracts/renegotiations) seemed to suck a lot of the fun/innocence out of the game, and I'm no longer glued to the T.V. on Sun.
@hattrick116 My first thought was, r u kidding me? but those guys (both Hall of Famers) were actually very good. Thanks!
Add Bob Hayes (rip), who was GREAT!!! Named "world's fastest man"/held world records (60,100 & 220 yds.); only guy to win Olympic gold medal & Super Bowl ring. He translated that speed to stretch the field and achieve separation (in stride) from man-to-man and/or zone defenses in the blink of an eye. I saw it happen.
Anyway, I dunno about "superstardom", but Fred Biletnikoff (Raiders) and Howard Twilley (Dolphins) should be in the mix. Both "possession receivers" w/great HANDS. Neither had blinding speed to be deep threats (nor flashy), but they were especially deadly in 3rd & long situations.
@hattrick116 Maybe not "superstardom" but Fred Biletnikoff (Raiders) & Howard Twilley (Dolphins) should be in the mix: "possession receivers" w/great HANDS, who didn't have blinding speed to be deep threats (nor flashy) like Ervin; were both deadly in 3rd & long situations.
The slow but nimble catch and run guys are a dying breed. I guess you had to be there, 1970s. =)
@hattrick116 ...if they catch the ball at all, most WRs today are so stretched out, they look like they're hoping to get hit so they can just flop down behind the first down marker. (ditto: kick-off & punt returners).
Part of the problem is QBs don't know how to lead w/touch anymore under pressure.
@speedoflite1 Hank Stram????????? Did you see the TD he had in that game. Come on. I'm not even a Chiefs fan. Otis Taylor was 6'3 215 lbs and had speed and power. If Irvin is in the Hall of Fame Otis Taylor should be. He could do everything Irvin could do and more. Don't get me wrong Irvin was good, but name one year when Irvin was the best receiver in the league????????? Otis Taylor could play today easy. With the soft coverage they have now. He would catch 80 balls easy.
@rtyryu You're just mad cuz he didn't quite make the cut. OT was good, but few ppl remember him and his stats are fairly low. close but no HOF.
I remember Lenny Dawson, Curly Culp, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan being the physical/inspirational leaders on the team; all Hall of Famers by now. ditto: Coach Stram who appeared approx 5'7, 205 lbs.
@speedoflite1 yeah for all of his stunts and problems..T.O after randy moss is 3rd behind jerry rice in career stats...t.o was never fast like moss.. nor ran great routes like rice..he was very physical with the defenders which led to blown coverages and lots of TDS
@fatpatlives1998 T.O. can be the poster child for tossing personal career stats out the window then. drops a lot/whines a lot. comes up short in big games. loves being a team distraction. hardly 3rd best
true, along with alvin harper, ernest givens, don beebe, steve largent, brian blades, john taylor, webster slaughter, mark carrier, drew pearson, sterling-shannon sharpe even though their te's, jimmy smith so many more and come on how can you forget billy white shoes johnson lol
irvin is top 5 best wr all-time jerry is hands down the best wr he was a better all around wr than irvin and im not dogging irvin im a cowboys fan no matter he is my favorivate wr all-time, but too to everybody who said cuzz irvin ended his carrer to soon your right, but u have too understand the cowboys got old at that time aikman wasnt what he used to be emmith wasnt the 1# rb anymore ,oh and for the cowboys now get rid of romo and get a good back not a 3man tandem oh your secondary sucks
i have a football autographed by 95-96 cowboys. if interested in purchasing contact me. so far i know it was autographed by 1. Darrin Smith 2. Larry Allen 3. Ray Donaldson 4. Darren Woodson 5.Bill Bates 6. Sherman Williams 7. Michael Irvin 8. David Lang And more !!!!
Michael was stiff and horrible on Dancin - Series 9, but I've gained newfound respect for the man. (I'm really no better on the dance floor). Rather than dumb & arrogant, he's a very likeable family man; 3 Xs Super Bowl and Hall of Famer. Good job, No. 88!
XX Wrong! Imagine a running back who took a tremendous pounding (practically every play) over many years (Emmitt Smith), who actually won "Dancing With The Stars," blows your argument completely to shit.
XXPUDDLES ????? What a foul-mouthed, gutless & cowardly butthole you have revealed yourself to be. I sense you're a fatherless, 22 year old couch slob, with total lack of self-respect. NO EXCUSE!
With love & warmth in my heart, in this glorious season of holiday cheer around me, how very ashamed your mother must be over you. (so wanting to do~to your face), Riddance!
no...im a well educated 14 year old boy. your probably the one whos 22 and still living with your mom. and i mean i guess you can judge me because of one thing i say on the internet. people like you are why the world is the way it is.
i have a father. want me to take a picture of him and send it to you? your a fucking 52 year old bag, go shave your balls you dusty old fart. hasnt your time come yet?
lol ~if my 15 yo son ever told anyone (his elder) in my presence to "shave their balls/dusty old fart," I'd wanna wash his mouth out with soap. Truth is, he's quite "the gentlemen" (most of the time) because he comes from good stock; contrary to your silly assertions, and apparently how your dad has raised you quite frankly.
You need not reply; you're way outta your league. ...just go play.
why do you put everything on my father if you have never met him? he has raised me quite fine, i dont get in trouble, im in 2 sports, and i get good grades. i have alot of things going for me. im raised well. i like how you keep extending the argument; if you were really the bigger person, then you would have ended it before the 2nd time i replied.
its not just about putting up the stats, the cowboys in the 90s where a running based team considering troy only had one season with 20+ tds, Micheal was the one of the greatest leaders of all time, but still a sick receiver =]
Emmitt Smith is at the level where the runningbacks can no longer be considered better than each other, but rather a member of the group that is immortal.
It's Irvin dumbass, and Randy Moss has about a quarter of the heart of Irvin. Nobody practiced harder. You know what they say about not hating the player, but hating the game?
wait did i say i hate him?? i respect anyone who plays in the nfl weather they are 3rd string or starers they are obviously good enough to make it into the NFL but i like randy moss better thats my opinion and no one said you cant have your own opinion. so dont hate my opinion just keep your own and thats all that matter, can no one kid around now holy shit, i say hes dancing because he is on the dancing with the stars show and its a joke fuckin simple comment leads to so much shit.
theres a lot of receivers better than this stupid diva
hed do better actin in da show toddlers & tiaras then he would in the nfl!

The best of the best is Jerry Rice; the most graceful is a tie between Paul Warfield & Lynn Swann; the most talented and feared is a 3-way tie between Randy Moss, John Stallworth & John Jefferson.
speedoflite1 2 years ago
You left quite a few guys off of this list....Issac Bruce, Tim Brown, Marvin Harrison, Tory Holt, Andre Reed...
Nicokid87 1 year ago
I like your picks as well as my own: Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Art Monk, Paul Warfield, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, John Jefferson, James Lofton & Howard Carmichael.
My list kinda shows my age tho. For me, the "business" of football (free agency and mega salaries/contracts/renegotiations) seemed to suck a lot of the fun/innocence out of the game, and I'm no longer glued to the T.V. on Sun.
speedoflite1 1 year ago 7
@speedoflite1 Don Maynard? Elroy Hirsch? I love your list. Just add a few and it will be perfect lol
hattrick116 1 year ago
@hattrick116 My first thought was, r u kidding me? but those guys (both Hall of Famers) were actually very good. Thanks!
Add Bob Hayes (rip), who was GREAT!!! Named "world's fastest man"/held world records (60,100 & 220 yds.); only guy to win Olympic gold medal & Super Bowl ring. He translated that speed to stretch the field and achieve separation (in stride) from man-to-man and/or zone defenses in the blink of an eye. I saw it happen.
A true "game changer".

@speedoflite1 Yah, I understand. VERY underrated superstars. Perfect list. I knew I missed something =)

@hattrick116 oops, I mentioned Lofton already.

speedoflite1 1 year ago
@hattrick116 ...if they catch the ball at all, most WRs today are so stretched out, they look like they're hoping to get hit so they can just flop down behind the first down marker. (ditto: kick-off & punt returners).
Part of the problem is QBs don't know how to lead w/touch anymore under pressure.
speedoflite1 1 year ago
@speedoflite1 Take out moss he doesn't play every down.
biziswinning 1 year ago
@biziswinning bro, I've yet to see any deep threat WR play "every down", and I'm older than natural turf (dirt); 1960s-pres.

speedoflite1 6 months ago
@speedoflite1 Otis Taylor watch the 1970 superbowl. Number 89 and you will see who I am talking about>
rtyryu 6 months ago
@rtyryu A pretty boring (7-23) Super Bowl as I recall. TV audience caught 89 ZZZs maybe. ...i sure did.
(HOF) Hank Stram was the most electric thing going for Chiefs that yr, not OT. sorry
speedoflite1 6 months ago
@speedoflite1 Hank Stram????????? Did you see the TD he had in that game. Come on. I'm not even a Chiefs fan. Otis Taylor was 6'3 215 lbs and had speed and power. If Irvin is in the Hall of Fame Otis Taylor should be. He could do everything Irvin could do and more. Don't get me wrong Irvin was good, but name one year when Irvin was the best receiver in the league????????? Otis Taylor could play today easy. With the soft coverage they have now. He would catch 80 balls easy.
rtyryu 6 months ago
@rtyryu You're just mad cuz he didn't quite make the cut. OT was good, but few ppl remember him and his stats are fairly low. close but no HOF.
I remember Lenny Dawson, Curly Culp, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan being the physical/inspirational leaders on the team; all Hall of Famers by now. ditto: Coach Stram who appeared approx 5'7, 205 lbs.
otis who?: restated!

@fatpatlives1998 2000-'03 he seemed to have his act together (consistentcy) in SF. you're not alone thinkin' HOF. funny
speedoflite1 3 months ago
@speedoflite1 yeah for all of his stunts and problems..T.O after randy moss is 3rd behind jerry rice in career stats...t.o was never fast like moss.. nor ran great routes like rice..he was very physical with the defenders which led to blown coverages and lots of TDS
fatpatlives1998 3 months ago
@fatpatlives1998 T.O. can be the poster child for tossing personal career stats out the window then. drops a lot/whines a lot. comes up short in big games. loves being a team distraction. hardly 3rd best

speedoflite1 2 years ago
come on man, you cant expect him to be that full of dance after however many years of football hes played, taking all those hard hits.
XXPUDDLES 2 years ago

XXPUDDLES 2 years ago
lol ~if my 15 yo son ever told anyone (his elder) in my presence to "shave their balls/dusty old fart," I'd wanna wash his mouth out with soap. Truth is, he's quite "the gentlemen" (most of the time) because he comes from good stock; contrary to your silly assertions, and apparently how your dad has raised you quite frankly.
You need not reply; you're way outta your league. ...just go play.
speedoflite1 2 years ago
why do you put everything on my father if you have never met him? he has raised me quite fine, i dont get in trouble, im in 2 sports, and i get good grades. i have alot of things going for me. im raised well. i like how you keep extending the argument; if you were really the bigger person, then you would have ended it before the 2nd time i replied.

its not just about putting up the stats, the cowboys in the 90s where a running based team considering troy only had one season with 20+ tds, Micheal was the one of the greatest leaders of all time, but still a sick receiver =]

abacobeachbum 2 years ago
wait did i say i hate him?? i respect anyone who plays in the nfl weather they are 3rd string or starers they are obviously good enough to make it into the NFL but i like randy moss better thats my opinion and no one said you cant have your own opinion. so dont hate my opinion just keep your own and thats all that matter, can no one kid around now holy shit, i say hes dancing because he is on the dancing with the stars show and its a joke fuckin simple comment leads to so much shit.
