I watched a documentary that explained how the islands were built. The engineers found a way to "shake" the sand under the water to release all the trapped air...that allowed the sand to settle in a more compact manner. It is a concept similar to viberating concrete. The more it is viberated the harder is is when it dries. These islands are an engineering marvel.

I live on the palm, and Im telling u this video is the exact opposite of what it really is like. When he says shops and spas....he dun mean it. There are no shops or spas. only in the hotels. But the atlantis is nice though. Also it aint that green.

the inlets in the palm don't have any water circulation so they're slowly filling up with pollution. I bet a lot of people don't know this, but the palm is slowly sinking. it won't be a problem for a while, but nobody in Dubai wants to live there because they all know about it, and the city spent so much money on the artificial islands and they're not making a profit now, which is part of the reason why Dubai is in a financial crisis.
