  • @KrayzieCMB it is a shortened name for Whycocomagh a nearby community to where the Rankins grew up, it borders a lake on one side hence "the shores" reference.

  • @KrayzieCMB you are referring to Ottawa 1995 on Parliament Hill and the vid was removed by the poster 'lbrankinfiles' because the person closed his/her youtube account. The Rankins have a FaceBook account the link is posted there too but does not work.

  • I saw the Rankin Family live years ago, and after all these years I still think it was pretty much the best concert I ever went to, and this was the best song of the whole night! So great to see live!

  • I've grown up listening them, on tapes and CD's and now on iTunes... My parents have actually seen them live a few times. I love the Rankin Family, they bring so much pride and happiness not only to several people but to all of Canada.

    I think they should blast this on Canada Day! <3

  • Gotta love the cape. I grew up there like mostly everyone else who commented. I'm from mabou and "mr MacNeil is my grandfather who just passed away 3 weeks ago. He was a legendary man if you heard everything about him

  • This song is by the Rankin Family from Cape Breton, Nova Scota. They grew up playing instruments and singing at a very early age and playing for friends and neighbours at weekly 'kitchen parties' as we like to call them here. Nova Scotia translates to New Scotland.
