Spoiler! Spoiler! When gabry was 5 she got left behind in the forest by her twin sister, annah. And the stranger is Elias a childhood friend who was also a reason that gabry got left behind. Gabriel lost her memory and was found by Mary her adoptive mother. I haven't read the dead tossed waves but I read the first and third book. Gabry makes it to the dark city. Now read the third book to find out about annah ( who is living in the dark city)

@rf1308 Because when mudo are together they teach the same rules over to other generations of mudo (I know right?) but all a breaker is is a mudo that lived alone and taught itself to run very fast and be very stealthy.

I loved the first one, i think its better than this one, even though this one's really good too. God, th trailer is crap! I was really annoyed when Gabry goes off with Elias instead of Catcher! I love catcher..i don't really like elias. This book is sad, but not as sad as the forest of hands and teeth. I love these books so much! I think about it all the time. I am really annoyed at Gabry though! Can't wait for the third one. Also, i thought Gabry was blond? I wish I could write like Carrie Ryan

i loved the book i just finished reading it and i couldnt believe it...the epilogue should have been something like...Months pass and when i least expect it i see someone in the horizon and i recognize the shape,the body,...the built...i gasp.It's him, my true and only love...Elias...Or something like that but no it just had to be bye bye Elias and DAMITT! i cant get over it :(

Mary, the main character in the first book, is Gabry's mother, the main character in the second book. The third book coming out in March, "The Dead and Hollow Places", should give more background to Elias and Catcher.

The trailer for The Forest of Hands and Teeth was just as horrible as this. First of all Gabry is blonde. Second they don't slide through the wall, they climb over it. Third, it's not winter! DUH! They are outstanding books, I own them both, but these trailers are horrifying. I do realize that it's going to be a movie, but I hope they have good looking and good actors.

Yeah, Gabry is blonde, and has tanned skin. While Mary is brunette with pale skin. : / In my opinion, the book is very good. But nothing can compare to Mary's story. And I suspect there will be a third book, I can almost promise it.
