Please folks, DO NOT collect your spirits with or in plastic, food grade or not. Use copper or stainless tubing, and a glass container to catch it in.
@ratman407 - yes this is true, in New Zealand, Austria, Italy, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, and the Ukraine it is perfectly legal to home distil for personal use, but elsewhere it is not. In Australia you will need to obtain a licence from the Customs & Excise Department.
hi i been doing some rescarch and found that there are fines if you get caught distilling spirits is this truth for nsw/qld or it just some old rule that is no longer in effect
@Hannible100 hi there, no you don't have to use distilled water to water down your spirit, and yes the T500 is available in the UK, visit our website for a list of retail stores.
@2dstill Hi Sue Done some reserch and this is the one for me i,m going to order one from Richard over at lovebrewing liverpool uk. Thanks again you are a nice lady
So I get the first part thats just like making home brew without the Wort. But when you mix the alco with water do you need to use distilled water? Also are these units available in Europe or the uk ,,I,m interested lol. Your husband is a lucky man do you make all the booze in the house?
what a crock of shit. i can,t believe i just wasted 10 mins of internet time watching this rubbish. turning your wash black with carbon now thats new. i condenser using a length of 10mm tube as the water carrier. cheap and nasty . it just goes to show how low the sheep shaggers will go to sell such crap.
In this video, you discard 50ml of heads, whereas in the Air Still video (and confirmed in comments) you don't do so. Is that because of the design of the still, or is it simply because of the yeast used? ( If I recall, the Air Still video used Triple Distilled Yeast, and this one used Classic. )
@Stonk73 you don't have to discard 50ml of heads with the air still because it is a pot still and doesn't concentrate any by-products. Also there is not enough wash in the still to cause problems if concentrated.
@2dstill never heard that before. Isn't the first shot methanol? It is in evey other still out there even with a small batch. What's the difference here?

I didn't hear any mention of ventilation. Ethanol vapour can pool on the floor creating a flash risk.

Yes, using Triple Distilled with the air still you don't need to remove the heads
