I think this is confirmation that, whatever he says, Matt was massively influenced by Radiohead back in the day. It's fair enough to distance yourself from your inspirations; he did, and they still got criticised as rip offs.

But they quite clearly aren't. I love this version, the lyrics are beautiful, some of the best I think he's written. In adding the rock element, the riff, they gained their own style, and certainly it's more 'rock' than Radiohead, but they also lost the intimacy. Shame.

I honestly don't understand how people think this sounds like sober or starlight, it clearly is plug in baby. exactly the same chords, exactly the same melody, only the bit we know as the chorus is the verse here and its in a lower key
