I use triggers while I'm drumming and they do absolutely nothing to effect my speed. Just makes the sound more distinguishable. Like hard2thakore666 said, with low tones at high speed it kinda falls behind no matter how hard you hit. Especially with a 22*24 bass drum.

but with triggers, you can do feather-touch double bassing, and still make it sound loud and even. the 'feather touch foot work' can help you play easily at insane speeds for insanely long....

sticks don't have to be light to play fast. he plays in probably the biggest black metal band ever so the sticks have to be very solid wouldn't surprise me if they are heavier than you expect as in something like 5a - 5b something fairly midweight compared to the heaviest sticks i've seen being a pair of 1a and the lightest being 11b. although tbh i'd never use any theing othe then 5a or b or possibly 6a or b at the lightest
