  • Fucking awesome, Imma show this to my new players thanks buddy :P

  • @HeathbrookBadhwar Anytime. :)

  • good vid

  • OWod is The Best !

    Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Demon !

  • Oh yeah, and it's basicly a thing to make peeps buy whole lot of new books... simple as that

  • New Vampire is like Masquerade was cut in half, mashed and bashed, grinded and left like just the simplest descryptions and guidelines... all the best mythos masacred...

  • @BloodyBay The oWoD is a 90ies clusterfuck. An overloaded turd of wannabe-fluff. Most of old time players look at it with nostalgia goggles. The nWoD got the fluff right this time. The irony is, that they polished the fluff that the oWoD SHOULD had. You can take what you want with the nWoD. Altough i like the oWoD theme of Mage better. I wish more old players gave the new system a chance, the books are well written ;_;

  • @Praioscal nWoD is just simplified game for tards who basicly go: Tooo long?! We don't want to read! LOL! Faceroll, faceroll, faceroll!

It has some nice updated mechanics, but lorewise it's a joke. No metaplot, what was awesome core for longer campaigns. Form me as a GM, nWoD Vampire the Requiem is a poorly designed book, even with Rome and Fall of Camarilla it's switched general lore, with specific lore.

  • @YuriPRIME general gave me the basic skeleton like the clans and story, and all the organisations, we were free to create inside, forge any conflict, any fraction, any division on each level between clans or sabbat and camarila... while here they sacrifice the general lore, to bring more rules in between organisations, bloodlines and such. Previously you had like an empty building to fill yourself, now you got like stores and columns, and got to put walls arround it.

  • In the end it's still a matter of personal choice. Some like the freedom of the new stuff, some like the old stuff with the hundred books full of things. As for the core rules, the new one works better with me, but i am more famiiar with the old. And if i want a flying turd angel to appear in my campaign, it will , no matter what version. Deal with it nerd.

  • @Praioscal lol, Whatever makes you happy. You can enjoy even a pony-nwod session for all I care, and yeah, the news system damn well suports fans of this kind of horror-RPG fun :P You can be whatever Buffy character you want now. Pardon me I do not sympathize with your taste... pitty you havent noticed I've barely spoke about mine before, just like you did now.

    So deal with it fanboy.

  • @YuriPRIME What the fuck are you talking about? And i am not in the slightest a fanboy. In oWoD you have corny and super silly saving the world, in nWoD you have CRAAAWLIN IN MAH SKIN type of idiots. Just remember kid, official fluff is almost as worse as fanfic from a furry site. So you have to make your own. Like in every other RPG, you end up with simplified houserules. ^_^

  • @Praioscal It looks like you've played or got into some compleetly different WoD then. And damn right the official stuff is silly. Hence why I stay away from nWoD. But saving the world in oWoD? Are you crazy or something or hae you ever even had a rulebook in hand? Their last oWoD book suplement releases are just a pack of scenarios as hints to use. In no VtM or VtDA, Mage or stuff you got anything about saving the world, kid.

  • @YuriPRIME Stop acting like you played oWoD and pretending to be older than you are and take your furry fanfic references to 4chan, unless your purpose is just to troll, well that at least I'd understand :P

  • I've been playing Vampire and Werewolf sooo much in the last year, and from what I've heard, the NWOD is pretty horrible in those two aspects

  • nWoD sucks, OWoD rocks!

  • @whitebishop1 fucking A!!

  • @whitebishop1 The problem was every 2nd people on earth was something else than human.Vampire, werewolf, mage, changeling fomor,mummy...

  • @eezys Actually, in most cities there is 1 vampire for 100.000 mortal, at least in Camarilla cities. For example the city I live right now, Istanbul, has 15 million people and that gives you 150 Camarilla kindred. And dont forget Sabbat and th others, let's say 200 cainites in a city.

Even if you add the Garou, Mages, Hunters and other extremely rare supernaturals (i don't think there are any Changelings in my neighbourhood lol) the number is less then 500. So 500 in 15 million... not so many.

  • @whitebishop1

    This.

Like seriously Werewolf:TA is better than the new version which is W:TF

  • @whitebishop1 nWoD sucks, OWoD rocks! Needed to be said again

  • @S1587915G I think the Christians would have a cow over a game that allows you to play Jesus. They had enough panic, "righteous" outrage and consternation over Demon: The Fallen, after all. :-p

  • I am familiar only with NWOD, but I would love to play OWOD games, in particular Hunter and Demon.

  • @PaulieRomanov My fave was still Mage: The Ascension (though Wraith and Changeling were close behind). It was the first of the OWoD games that I ever Storytold, and once you master Mage's fast and loose magic system, the other seven books are cake by comparison.

My most memorable campaign ran for about four years, with my players alternating between their paranormal characters and the Technocracy crack team hunting them. Our Technocracy characters soon became our favorites, oddly enough.

  • @BloodyBay The book of the Technocrasy is brilliant. Mage is also my favorite, such a damn great concept for a roleplaying game. I wish I could find a solid group.

  • @HeathbrookBadhwar The Player's Guide to the Technocracy was a must-have for any Mage campaign, I think. It's easy for Tradition mages and all other paranormals in the World of Darkness--and the players who sympathize with them--to paint the Technocracy up like the biggest bad guys. Then you actually put yourself in the Technocracy's shoes and see how they struggle to keep the world from spiralling into chaos everyday, and suddenly they don't look so bad anymore.

I miss my old WoD troupe. :(

  • @BloodyBay I hear ya man. That's the beauty of WoD, no one is right, or completely wrong etheir, no one is good or evil, all just a different shade of grey. Makes for an amazing setting for storytelling, all the politics and conflicting ideas on various levels, from within and without. White Wolf, through creating everyones varried beliefs and prejudices, painted a verry un-bias universe. The best villain is the one whom believes what he does is right. Leaves the truth open-ended. :)

  • the problem with new wod is that there r only 5 vampire clansn and only 5 were wolf tribes it get boring fast with so few clans and tribes.!!

  • @irbb07 At least Promethean: The Created lets you play one of SEVEN Lineages if you buy all the books. Still, nothing beats the Frankensteins, in my book. ;-)

  • @irbb07 Dude. They are enough clans, bloodlines and even rules to make your OWN. Just like with the tribes or the cabals. YOU DONE GOOFED BROTHER

  • There is one single redeeming feature of nWoD: the core system - the mere existence of this (which oWoD lacked) makes it much easier to do crossovers, not to mention the fact that it's a really good setting. However...the other systems - Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Changeling, Hunter and the others - they are shallow, dumbed down and badly executed compared to oWoD. There is no excuse for this. The ultimate solution would be the rules and core setting of nWoD (plus soaking!), but otherwise oWoD.

  • @Grevnor Don't forget Promethean, which is probably the only entirely original book of the nWoD. It's a pity that Promethean isn't receiving nearly as much fanfare as the rehashes; I picked up Promethean just for that reason, and WW not only gave us Frankensteins and golems (at long last) but they did a superb job with the theme; Prometheans are inherently very powerful alone, yet their abominable nature dooms them to lonely, miserable and threatened existences.

  • @Grevnor So I doubt that I'll ever find a local Promethean: The Created campaign, but I love my Frankenstein anyway, enough to make a few drawings of her for my DeviantArt profile. And judging by Promethean's following on DeviantArt, I'm not alone in my Promethean love. :-)

  • @BloodyBay Well, Promethean is a new addition - there isn't really anything in the oWoD like it - not any single game, at least. However, they do combine features of Mummy with Frankenstein-like creatures, and there are a few, despite the lack of them as a unique game - namely the Awakened creations made by the Sons of Ether mages, and Szlachta and Vozhd war ghouls made by the Tzimisce vampires. There is also a sample character in the Tzimisce book, which is basically a vampiric Frankenstein.

  • @Grevnor the saution 2 the new wod is 2 add more kindred to the vampires. add more tribes to the garou. that the mian problem with the new vamire and were wolf it get boring 2 fast with only 5 tribes and clans.

  • Actually the NWOD has come with great changes on the dice rolling and cover rule problems. They also make all the monsters playable on each other.

The mod is there, just make your own story, and also you can chose to play stories published by WW. This time is all in your hands

  • Hey, NWOD is not that bad, it may be somewhat more simplified, but at least it's nowhere near as bad as D&D 4e!

  • Well, I'll give you that! NWoD isn't bad, it's like the Star Wars prequels: Might have been great films by themselves, but compared to what they come from...

  • Old World of Darkness - Requiescat in Pacem. The new World of Darkness just isn't inspiring enough or intelligent enough. I'm sure it has its moments, but that is still no justification. I enjoy the idea of WW ending the old World of Darkness (since there was always a looming apocalypse at the horizon), but they could have made a much better job with its reincarnation.

But of course, the end could just be a new beginning...if you are prepared to make a new setting. Postapocalyptic horror ftw!

  • @Grevnor Agreed..

  • R.I.P. old World of Darkness :'(

  • Yeah, I still miss the old WoD too. I'd love to find another game table with other players who still play the old WoD, but I'm not having much luck here in East Texas. :-(

  • @BloodyBay you could do an online one, couldent you?

recruit hardcore players from around the world.

id even let you be the ST.

  • Same here. No players in my parts, so I turned to online play. Currently playing a Gangrel in a Vampire game, and I have a Lasombra in the works, for another. Fun stuff. :-)

  • its coming back!!!!!

  • know that i know much much more about the old World of darkness ive decided to watch this again

  • I think the whole conept is inspireing but I like Old WoD then new, cuz it´s more depth in Old World of Darkness, look at Werewolf: The Apocalypse and the other Shapeshifters (Fera).. much more complicated and deeper then Werewolf: The Forsaken! I don't say that I don't like nWod, cuz I do but as I told you, nWoD must be more deeper and I hope WW come with new and richer supplements to all of their current games.

  • Man. It's like looking in a mirror.

I too have little interest in New WoD. My favorite game was were-wolf, and the way it was explained to me, the new were-wolf mechanics don't even let you -soak- aggravated damage with your stamina anymore!!!

Promethean has to be my favorite out of the new ones, followed by Changling. Mage, Vampire and Were-wolf are just too 'Halo-gamer'ified.

  • Well, yeah, though that's less a nerfing of werewolves than the fact that the nWoD doesn't have a soak mechanic, period.

The nWoD wolves are generally less adept at face-tanking God, though, it's true. Their mechanics encourage wolfpack hit-and-run tactics and harrying with frequent withdrawals to rest up, then come back later to resume the hunt. Sort of like cinematic werewolves (think Dog Soldiers).

  • There's muich which I don't care for in the new WoD, and the removal of Soaking is one of them. So much for Rasputin-like feats of physical durability, unless you're one of the few blessed with Corporeum or Fortitude or whatever. Of course, the ST is always free to reinstate Soaking as a house rule....

And I do agree: the Garou always should have been more about Dexterity than Strength. Bears and oxen are known for great strength. Wolves--beasts of speed and tenacity--are not.

  • And with both the World of Darkness and the time-honored Dungeons & Dragons dumbing down their newest editions for the "new market" (video kiddies with gnat-like attention spans), I reflect on Bill Hicks and his rant against profiteering and marketing. Marketing and marketeers really are one big, subtle evil with a unique way of sucking the life out of everything they touch, aren't they?

  • This is HILARIOUS.

  • How so?

  • Woot Old WoD rules! (New WoD is OK.) Hunter the Reckoning: best table top RPG ever (at least in the World of Darkness).

  • I'll agree that the new WoD is not (storyline) as good as the old world of darkness. That being said I think systematically it is better and a lot more balanced.

  • I always liked that White Wolf had the balls to actually bring about the end. Shame the new WoD had to suck so bad. So far I've only liked Changeling: The Lost and Promeathean: The Created.

  • I've looked around for Changeling: The Lost, but every store I've visited has either sold out of it or has never stocked those books in the first place. I guess I'll have to drive all the way out to Dallas and look around there one of these days....

But yes, Promethean rocks. I even drew a nifty pic of my own Frankenstein (and the eight women who went into building her) and threw it up on Deviant Art. I rarely get that inspired. :-)

  • Very cool!

Changeling is well worth finding, if a little mopey. But hey, it is the World of Darkness, wasn't gonna cutsie...

  • I will named after this event: The Time of Judgement!

  • This Time of Judgement event gives me an' idea for a own homebrew rpg! with the WoD rules of course! In my version it is the final confrontation between Jehova (god) and Lucifer! Jehova, has in my rpg abondoned his creation and sacrificed it to the destructive force that´s will be the outcome of the Apocalypse. While Lucifer takes is chance for a finaly kill his former lord and roam over Jehova´s Creation! And Humanity, Fallen Angels and The Creatures of myth and legend in the middle!

  • the old WoD is the fuckin best! If i could i would reborn it! It´s fuckin better then the new! and one thing.... Wraith is goin to remake in the new WoD!

  • I haven't heard anything about a new Wraith book in the new WoD, but that would be a most excellent idea. Where did you hear this?

  • Wikipedia and White Wolf Wiki! they say that in all those limited supplements it will include a sentence like this in the new Hunter supplement: "GEIST: Summer 2009".

for in the Changeling supplement they got the sentence:thehuntersarrivetwothousandeight.

  • Yeah, but old Wraith was so great. I mean look what they did to the greatness of Hunter. While Vigil is an alright game, it just seems like a kick to Reckoning's balls. I'm a little leery of this new one.

  • Yeah your right! that's a damn problem!

  • I totally agreed with reBirthAngel, WW should expend some attention to the videogames and perhaps made a fucking movie too!

  • Wrong.

Mage: The Ascension was about magick too, and the many forms that magick takes. It doesn't have to be mystic chants and mystic books to be magick; technowizardry was as valid a path as Qabbalist sorcery, inner focus and spirit-invoking shamanism. The Technocracy was the embodiment of Clarke's Axiom; their science had become so greatly advanced that it was indistinguishable from mysticism.

So likening M:TA to The Matrix is a VERY limited view of the game's vast and varied scape.

  • He he, I actually remember when I was visiting the White wolf site, and saw the timer to the release of these books. Sad that I never knew that it also ment the end of the OWoD.

I'm not too upset, since that you can get the old revised books on the internet, and plus if they didn't end it, the games would probably get stale.

It's sad that White wolf has never gotten any good videogames out of there old games, some of the new WoD would be kind of cool to see in videogame form ((Promethian)).

  • I still have the ToJ videos for Werewolf and Mage on my hard drive somewhere, but now I can't find them. If only I could remember the file names or extensions....

And a Promethean video game would be excellent! I could recreate my Mercurius Frankenstein biochemist and have a blast, I'm sure. :-)

  • This is pretty sweet, man! Thanks! I was looking for this Time of Judgement promos everywhere! Say, speaking of those... I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find those flash promos that White-Wolf released in their old page advertising Apocalypse, Ascension and WOD: Time of Judgement?

  • Oh, I was just talking about the videos for Apocalypse and Ascension, too. If I can find those videos, I'll be sure to upload them. It behooves us to preserve White Wolf history for the public's perusal, eh? :-)

  • I also much preferred classic WoD to the new stuff. The only one thats actually an improvement in my opinion is Changeling: The Lost, as the previous Changeling was pretty meh.

  • I liked Changeling: The Dreaming; it had a lot of potential which people didn't tap into, but I ran a good Changeling campaign or two. But then, I'm also the guy who loved Wraith--and had some great campaigns off of Wraith--while everyone else was throwing up their hands and saying "It's took dark" or "Wraiths can't interact with my 9th Generation Ventrue, so wraiths suck".

  • i love bloodlines even though i never played it except for the character creation after that the game chrashed =( shows that real good games never make it

  • I wish White Wolf would try their hands at PC games again. Bloodlines was pretty sweet.

  • So were Redemption and the Hunter: The Reckoning games. Too bad their Werewolf: Heart of Gaia game got cancelled. I bet that one would have rocked. :-/

  • I had no idea they even did a game baesd on Hunter.

...and the werewolf fight in Redemption? Yikes.

  • 1) There are videos for Hunter: The Reckoning and its two sequels (Wayward and Redeemer) on YouTube, if you wanted to search for a few.

    2) I swear, no matter how many times Christof and friends ran around that wooden corral, I never took the werewolf bursting through that barrier in stride.

And I really wish I could find that tune from the beginning of this video (as it's also the theme for the Hunter video game). But the second tune is Organ Grinder from the Hunter soundtrack. :)
