She sing's beautifully and the lyrics are beautiful too, and all the different instruments playing together create such a magical atmosphere and feeling. Makes me feel like i'm walking in an enchanted forest. I really love this song. Monaco is nice too, but this one makes their song seem so ordinary and bland, because it's such a typical song " made just to win eurovision" =)
@jasonptify No, she's not ugly but you guys on the other hand are both Really and I mean really ugly old loser pigs:P she's a nice and beautiful girl and the song is something different, original, enchanting and magical, I love this song very much. it's Not just some straightforward pop music. Old farts like you just don't tolerate anything that's different. You're so boring yourself and you have no imagination

This is an amazing song and I LOVE the lyrics very much. I agree with you 100% Tasos, Monaco was IMO a more than deserved winner, but this is my real favourite of 1971.
Very glad we agree on this one, my friend (and I imagine that being able to understand the original Dutch lyrics makes one appreciate them even more).
Thank you so really much for uploading this song. I am from Holland. I love the winner Severine with "un banc, un arbre une rue" and Katja Ebstein from Germany. But i know this song from Saskia en Serge is popular by many people in the world.

Prachtig; zowel tekst als muziek!
So beautifull; both lyrics and the music!
Wat een pech met dat geluid. De dirigent had af moeten slaan en opnieuw beginnen.
What a pitty of that sound. The conductur should have stopped and start over again

Jij komt om mij te warmen, You come to warm me
De stip komt dichterbij, The spot, dot is coming closer
Ik voel al haast je armen, I almost feal your arms
Het wachten is voorbij, The waiting is over
De tijd bepaalt het ritme, Time sets the rhythm
En gaat zijn eigen gang, And goes its own way
En iemand die nog vlugger wil, And someone who wants to go even faster
Die maakt het eens zo lang, Makes it twice as long

Jij stuurde mij verhalen You sent me stories
Die las ik veel te vlug I read them way too quick
Een snoer met duizend kralen A necklace with thousand beads
En nog was jij niet terug And still you weren't back
Een vogel trekt naar 't zuiden A bird migrates southward
Precies op uur en dag On the exact hour and day
En wie geen tranen heeft geplengd And those who didn't shed tears
Herkent geen echte lach Don't recognise a real laugh

Jij stuurde mij je dromen You sent me your dreams
Maar dat was niet genoeg But that wasn't enough
Ik vroeg je zelf te komen I asked you to come yourself
Ik vroeg het veel te vroeg I asked it way too early
Verlangen is een bloesem Desire is a blossom
En bloesem wordt een vrucht And a blossom becomes a fruit
En stormen worden opgebouwd And storms are composed
Uit adem, zucht voor zucht Of breath, sigh by sigh

What happened with the sound technicians that night? Spain and The Netherlands started the song with their microphones switched off.
