  • Lucky you!! Enjoy!

  • returned from there last thu! Never forget that country!

  • I'm dying to go, too. I haven't been "there" since 1986!!!! I have relatives and friends from Dubrovnik (Trubaduri) to Opatija and then to Zagreb. --------------Glad you had a great time.

  • oh dear. it must be a " lump in throat" feeling for ya when hearing this song! Hope you get soon there!

  • hvala:P

  • zlatko tanevski

  • Since I heard them from the ESC performance I fell in love with their music. I wonder if anyone knows of more artists/bands who sing/play medieval-like music which includes flute playing?

I want to hear more Eastern European medieval music like that.

  • this isn't eastern european medieval music... it's mediterranean croatian old song :)

  • "Croatian pop band from Dubrovnik formed in 1962. They were very popular in former Yugoslavia for their mixture of pop-music and medieval traditions of their native ancient city on the Adriatic."

That was the description I found on them, so I am not too far off, right. And the outfits they wore on ESC were medieval style as well.

  • This is the most beautiful recording of "Marijana" that I've heard. Does anyone know if it is still possible to get this recording?

  • hvala JUGOTON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SUPER !!!

  • This is a second arrangement of "Marijana" from Dubrovacki Trubaduri. The first one was with Djelo and this one is with Oliver Dragojevic. The flip side of the record has the song "Spavaj, Spavaj Draga" that I had the pleasure of watching the Trubaduri perform at the Split Festival in 1973. (I voted for that song! It was a winner for me!!!)

  • Super. Hvala lepa.

  • o...lalala la ...nice!:)

  • ha ha ..ok ok. i relised..on the ingle it says- MONO/STEREO--- another X FILES IS NOW SOLVED.

anyway- great song and i love it so much !! bye!!

  • I´m Mulder and you Scully in that case ;o)

Well anyway, you are right the song is excellent. It is one of those songs that have followed me from the 70´s to the present :o)

  • i know iknow..but it's the opposite way- THE RECORD SAYS IT'S MONO... but you can hear the stereo..so the only way that's possible it's that this recording is not from that single but anotherstereo mix..:)

  • I can assure you that it is from that single because I recorded it from that single. It is my fathers single you see. And by the way..it also says stereo on the record ;o)

  • SUPER !! ali ova snimka nije MONO ?? ALI NA PLOCI PISE ??

  • The record is sstereo I think. But when you upload to you-tube it gets transferred to mono. (I think)

  • Svaka cast HRVATIMA,,, glazba je predivna.... Bog i Hrvati..

  • ena najlepših južnjaških pesmi

  • 5 stars!Neprevazidjeni su!

  • could someone post the whole translation?

  • That's basically the whole translation. It's not always possible to translate word for word, but it's a beautiful Croatian classic.

  • i see, thanks a lot anyway... so u mean the whole song is about these sentences u wrote before? because i feel he is singin different sentences.. although a very nice song

  • Marijana, sweet, little, Marijana, I will wait for you until the break of day.-----Some poor guy is obviously very sad because Marijana promised that she would meet him and then never showed up. Poor guy!! :)

  • hehe actually i know how he feels in another way.. this song fits perfect for me .. where are u from?

  • USA Around the New York area. U?

  • Europe, Austria -Vienna

    So u are from croatia?

  • Dubrovački trubaduri su imali nekoliko neprevazidjenih hitova, prepuni su emocija, topline i prave romantične ljubavi...5 stars!!!

  • Tocno je!

  • Ja se zovem Marianna :-) greetings from Slovakia

  • lijepo pozdravljena

  • The actual translation is more about a man waiting for Marijana who still hasn't come to meet him. It's after midnight and she's still not here. He's waiting, alone under the palm tree, with his eyes starting to close yet he's sad, waiting for his Marijana. He will wait for her until the sun comes up. (Tebe cu cekat ja, dok svane dan.)

  • Yes that is my take on it as well..but the below translation is very poetic as well;)

Is there actually a verse with the below translation in the song?

  • That would be something to look for. I am friends with the group members and we still keep in touch so I am going to ask them. I've never heard the Trubaduri sing it in English, but maybe someone else did. Regards.

  • Wow..pls say hello to them ;o)

I love much of their music you know :o)

  • Will do. I told them to check out what's on Youtube about their group. Occasionally three of the Trubaduri, Djelo, Marko and Luci sing together for special events. It would be great if they did more of that. They were on Croation TV a couple of times this year. Are you in Croatia?

  • No, I´m in Sweden. I´m half slovenian, halfswedish, but I have a great love for much of the music of Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia and so on.

I do hope they will come together and sing more :o) That goes for many of the artists of that era.

I just would have wished I would have made a more interesting video to go with this song but the recordcover (my dads record, Stefan Zrinski, by the way) was all that I had to "work" with ;o)

  • slatka mala marijanaaaaa....:)

  • Tonight, how enchanted was that June Night. As we vowed in the moonlight. Never more to part. Your lips were so very warm and tender. How they begged me to surrendor before we say I do. I won't forget you and that June Night when I met you. Oh Mary Ann be mine and say you care.

That is one verses of Marijana in English for those who didn't know.

  • Thank you very much for the translation:o)

And keep on being proud :o)

  • hey .. what does pesma means? i've seen it a lot lately

  • Isto jaz ljubim Hrvatsku :)

  • :-P

  • Or perhaps the correct grammar should have been...jaz tudi ljubim Hrvatsku? ;)

  • i am not a native croatian speaker, i only learn croatian by myself:P

  • Neither am I ;o) I just imagine I understand a lot of it ;o)

  • Beautiful song

    Bravo!

  • anyone got a rapidshare of this or anything of Dubrovački Trubaduri...plz mail me

  • Recently an old video of Trubaduri appeared on Croatian Television (CMC). I believe it was from 1971 because the group consisted of the same members who came to NYC in April 1971and had their first American concert in the now defunct Hotel Commodore in NYC on Easter Sunday.(Two more were in NJ and Queens.) When they returned the following year, Oliver Dragojevic was a group member. Recently original members of Trubaduri were featured singing on Croatian TV. "Evergreen!"

  • lucky you who could watch it :) cheers

  • legendarno !

    (posvec'ujem jednoj SRNI)

  • Vecna pjesma, bila sam jako mlada kada su je TRUBADARI PJEVALI, POSLJE 10 GODINA MOJU CERKU SAM NAZVALA mariana

  • A ja pod palmom sjedim sam, a oci sklapa san, i tuzan tekam davno sudjen dan----

  • What is the lyrics between "Noć je, oko mene svud je tama

Marijana spava sama i ne zna da sam tu." and "O Marijana, slatka mala Marijana,

Tebe ću čekat ja, dok svane dan"?

  • A ja pod palmom sijedim sam,

a ochi sklapa san i tuzhan chekam davno sudjen dan

I think this is the lyrics you ask for :o)

  • Clanovi su onda bili Marko Breskovic, Luci Capurso, Bobo Berdovic, Laci Padjen i Oliver Dragojevic. Odlicna pjesma. Steta da nema video. Hvala.
